Here I am, sitting at my computer, writing this blog in between Kil'jaeden wipe recoveries... because I am (astonishingly) not raiding as a class that buffs or heals! Amazing, no? My name is Shaelynx, Level 70 Rogue: hardcore girl gamer; raiding veteran of four years. I’m currently in a high-end raiding guild that runs with a medium-sized roster; and of a genuine “core” of 35 members, three of which are females (including myself). Proving myself to the guild’s officers was a trial of its own – my being female was the number one hindrance keeping me from being promoted to a true Member of the guild. It always irks me when I see new female applicants on our forums and I see some random guild mate say, “Do we really need more women in this guild?” With all due respect it could be a joke, but the mentality - the stigma - against women is ever present. All problems aside, it's always entertaining to have someone I don't know talk to me realize that I'm female. I definitely do...
