I find this to be very very annoying curse client is now pointless because most of the toolbar and etc. has been restriced for curse preimum members only... now i can update all and i have to update my numerous addons one at a time. * i have heard a rumor but dont know if its true but you now have a limit on how many addons you can have from curse.com not sure if its true because again its a rumor*

I hope that rumor is a rumor.
Anyways, that email I've sent to curse 3 months ago has never been responded to. So, why would a curse user go premium if the support isn't all that great?

That rumor is not true. The only limit is the number of simultaneous downloads in the client. i.e. you can't have more than one download going at a time.

I don't think its legal to earn money with WoW according to Blizzards Rules, but ok, they give it a try.
It is really annoying to update one addon at a time, so leaving curse will be a hard choice, but one to consider.
What's your opinion?

I use it as a convenience.
I pay for WoW, and I am not going to pay for any addon updater.
Once I find an alternative, I will be switching.

Agreed, I am fairly dissapointed. I don't mind not having most of the features that premium offers, but not being allowed to update all of my addons at the same time is ridiculuos. It took more effort to limit that than it would have to just leave it alone.

Wowmatrix is not closed, where did you get that info. Google it. A few addon authors do not want their addons there (wowace is at least partially funded by curse)

I, too, will be shunning Curse and their Curse Client. They violate Blizzard policy just by having a premium version of a service related to add ons. Very stupid move. There are numerous other ways they could have raised funds if they are that hard up.

This is one of the reasons I was hesistant to pick up any addon manager after WoWAce died off. I miss that thing.
Same as everyone else, going to be ditching this updater and moving on here soon. It's not right to charge people a monthly fee for using something that we use probably once a week, if that, just to update a few mods. Especially so limiting the free version to one at a time and capping the download speeds on them.

@Caddir, we've been in contact with Blizzard and have satisfied any concerns they've had with Premium. There is no violation of any policy.

No one is being charged a monthly fee for using the Curse Client to update their addons. In fact, the free version of the client allows you to do the same exact thing you did when you had the trial version of the premium client. You are still informed of when each addon has been updated and you are provided with a means to get that addon without having to go to the curse website to obtain it. In addition to that, the client extracts the addon to your interface folder without you having to do anything. How is that functionality any different than what you had last month?
So you don't have an update all button anymore. Get over it. You are still getting virus free addons delivered directly to your addons folder with the click of a button.

I hate when people complain about no longer getting things for free. It costs money to host this website, and run the downloaders, that is why download sites charge...the providers and hardware vendors that these servers are hosted behind and running on are not given to curse for free, so why do you "deserve" a free service. First, it is STILL free, you can use the client and website with ads, you can still update your mods, you can still add a mod to your favorites and get alerts when a mod is updated. Also part of the subscription gives a kickback to addon developers that make the addons you love which is a good thing. Wowmatrix stole bandwidth from curse by linking to the curse download pages, curse simply cut off their ability to do that...that wasn't curse "sticking it to WM", WM was the one sticking it to curse. And last, this is not against blizzards terms, blizzard has said you cannot advertise for donations IN your mod and you can not offer Premium versions of "mods" for an additional cost. A Mod hosting site that is selling exclusive downloading and alerting functionality has nothing to do with blizzard, and as the mod above stated, they have cleared everything with blizzard anyway.
And to people talking about how great wowace was...there is a REASON WHY IT'S NO LONGER AROUND. When they shut down they had an explaination, and it came down to money...the cost of running the servers and the bandwidth required was putting them in the hole...if you move on to the next "free" thing then have fun with it while it lasts until they either discontinue the service or start charging for it.

@Caddir, I can't guarantee it, but I imagine you'll be waiting a long long time.
