Healbot = bad healing?

Hello

I have been playing with my paladin on a spanish server for a couple of months and have an issue with HB. The thing is since I decided to try it my hps/healing done in raids has decreased GREATLY, I have like 1750 +healing with 18% crit and by the end of a Kara/Gruul/SSC game it looks like I was in blue and greens, I did setup bindings for healing spells with the desired ranks but still... The thing is the healer(s) who do NOT have HB installed get normal stats with just a bit of overhealing at the end of raid and me or anyone else using HB are at the bottom of the healing list with VERY low hps. I was asked to remove HB completely to raid but does anyone know the cause of this?

Your lower overall healing is due to the fact that when your target (likely a MT or OT) takes damage, that character continues to take damage after you begin to cast a ..rank 7 healing spell. In the time it took you to cast your heal, your target likely has taken enough damage to now need a rank 8 or 9 heal--thus, while you may avoid overhealing, you in-turn encourage underhealing.

To confront this obvious meters problem remind your raid leaders that, while you may have a lesser % on the heal meters, you have a greater effective healing for long boss fights where other healers might oom.

However, in a world of Super Mana Pots, Inervation, Mana Tide/Stream Totems, Vampiric Embrace, Symbol of Hope, and even Spellsurge, you can afford to overheal more often (like the normal healers).

Until an addon can predict the change in -health (by calculating avg -health/second I guess) and thus instead of initially casting rank 7 casting rank 8 or w/e, I suggest that you learn to live w/o your coveted HealBot :P

What does that answer have to do with healbot? Are we talking about the same mod? As far as I know Healbot does not have any functionality for picking spell rank, so what does spell rank have to do with the problem?

The rare difficulty I have with Healbot is that if your clicks aren't perfectly steady (such as when dual boxing a hard fight) you may end up dragging the window instead of clicking, whereas a keyboard click will never fail.

I'm competitive within my gear range as a holy priest using Healbot.

I have checked other forums and healbot uses predictive/conservative healing so I'm removing it, thx satanic

As a Holy Pally raiding in 10 and 25 mans I use SmartDeBuff in target mode. Right clicking on the person in the SDB window throws a Flash of Light on them and left click targets them for me to hit them with a Holy Light. I used to get bitched out in raids because my mana bar did not fall as fast as a priest or druid, until they saw i was topping the healing meter. My Flash of Light is way more mana conservative and mana point vs heal point, way better healing than Holy Light. Also, SDB allows me to cleanse in the matter of a second (holding down the alt key, in target mode). It makes fights like Maiden a cake walk removing Holy Fire.

My 2 cents worth...

I have not healed on my priest for quite some time and accordingly I am not familiar with what popular healing mods are currently in use. I assume, from my limited recollection, that HealBot does, in fact, cast varying ranks of a given healing spell based on target health/maxHealth.

Also, the faster your heal, the greater likelihood that you will have a greater-than-average healing % on the meters (if there are multiple healers for one target). You are less likely to overheal and for healers like Resto Shamans, which tend to overheal in such a situation more than any other healer, there is a definite advantage on the meters. 2-3k heal without overhealing > 4-6k heal with upwards of 50% overhealing and for 1.5-2x the mana (a guesstimate). Faster heals can definitely make an impact :P
kudos to you, Lazare.

healbot does not choose the rank for you if you have just the spell name inserted in the box it will cast the highest rank of that spell unless you have a certain rank included no mod will choose ranks for casts anymore blizzard destroyed those mods over a year ago
i play a resto druid and use healbot i have never had a problem of underhealing i overheal like crazy
just always use your highest rank of a spell because people do keep losing life after you start casting

in combat, healbot cannot choose a rank to cast, it will cast the rank you specified, or the highest rank if you don't specify.

outside of combat, it can choose the best rank of a spell to cast (my priest will cast the most appropriate rank of Renew depending on how much health the target is missing, so as not to overheal).

it also communicates with anyone else using healbot, and will show their incoming heals on your bars, adding extra overheal protection.

i've been meaning to give grid and clique a try, but i've been so happy with healbot that i just haven't gotten around to it. if you really don't like healbot, though, give grid a shot maybe.

Get rid of Heal Bot. :P

I know people get used to it and many are good with it. If you have the money for a programmable mouse, Id get one with many buttons, like the MX Revolution, along with UberOptions for Setpoint. Bind the buttons to the number pad, and bind spells to those numbers. (Bind Autorun to /, and walk/run toggle to * so that nun lock isnt changed.) Use a mod like X-Perl that can highlight those close to you and need a heal. Then just choose the highlighted player and click a mouse button. No need to worry about holding alt, cntrl, shift, alt+cntrl, shift+alt, Left click, right click.... do the hokey pokey and shake it all about. Once you have it set up its so much easier to do than the annoyance of all the special key configurations needed with HB.

Just one more suggestion and alternative to HB, although not practical for many due to the mouse.
