how do i install addons?

i have just downloaded quest helper but i dont know how to install it can any one please help me?

First exit completely WoW then create a folder on your desktop labeled "My Mods"

Next download the addon.

Next unzip in/to "My Mods" folder.

Next copy desired files (File with the name of the addon) into the Addon Folder*

Finish by starting WoW and using the addon.

*This folder is found by finding your installation path, or where WoW is held on your computer. Mine happens to be in my Program Files, once I am into Program files I go to the File World of Warcraft. Once inside find the Interface folder open it, find the addon folder, open it. Now copy/move the file from the "My Mods" folder to this folder.

i have dont all that u have said there Frosty, but thay still dont work when i start up WoW its still the same no omen treat meter or quest helper, could u or anyone help me here, thanks for anyone that posts a helpful post.

I am having the same Problem myself trying to install quest helper and autioneer put them both in the Addon folder but still no addons in the log in screen where you see all your toons. Pls help

Instead of copying to a folder on your desktop (which I think may be confusing you), just do this...

Download the addon you want
From wherever it saved - unzip
The unzip location should be C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons (verify this on your PC)
Don't make a new folder inside Addons, just put them right in there...unzip.
At the toon select screen, you should see Add Ons...click it and then make sure they are all there.

If you don't see it, you did something wrong. Look at the other posts on the forum for help. It's most likely a really basic step you are missing. Remember,you need to unzip it to the folder, not just move the file you downloaded.
