I'm 99% sure it can't be bartender. Don't you have some kind of UnitFrames addon installed also? Since a pet is a unit, all it's info should be shown in it's unit frame, Bartender only concerns pet actions. Post us what UnitFrames addon you use and maybe we can help you further.
From Pitbull I know it'll color the hp bar according the pet's happiness
