Keylogger compromised?
use the aceupdater for your ace addons imo and you can always dl later and older versions of omen on curse and wowace, virus' can attach to any file or go in any folder usually it's more of a direct system folder or file then a game folder/file in less the virus is intended for that sole purpose to get info from the game, then it will attach to something involving that game
your guildie could have downloaded a third party/fake omen, that the non real omen developers released, or it can be from something entierly nothing to do with omen at all and it attached itself to the omen folder, just have your guildie report it to blizzard use his account restores then do a housecall and or format his machine and be careful who has his account info and what he is browsing

Yeah, his chars are almost all restored now, I am just curious how he got the logger unless he went to a "shady" site. He updates Omen from Curse and after he got hacked and ran the AV check, it showed up on the Omen addon. I know a while back the loggers hit KTM threat meter on here, was wondering if they were now targetting the Omen addon. He DLed the onem from here, and from what I saw, its the only one here, so I doubt he got it from a different party. And if everything gets scanned prior to getting uploaded here, I don't see how a fake Omen could have gotten through.
My guess is the logger attached to Omen, but don't know why. I'm not much of a programmer, I just thought the logger needed to be "activated" by some app, Omen being something that could trigger it.
I don't use an auto updater for this reason. I scan each addon and do a search for an exe, dll, bat, etc. in case the scan misses it.
Have him provide you with the exact link he used to update Omen from. All ACE related addons should be updated from either wowace.com or the windows ace updater program. In searching for Omen, you can only see this - http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/9101/
That is the legit upload and hasn't even been updated here since Jan 15th. If he is just updating Omen here in March and Curse has the last update as January, then you've got a problem. Nobody should be waiting 3 months to update their mods.
What more than likely happened is he got the keylogger from somewhere else. Using the auto updater is fine since even if it did come with a bat or exe, it does nothing unless you click on it and activate the command file. So if you downloaded a mod via an updater and never went into the folder and clicked the executable, nothing will happen.
When you make a post like this without full possession of the facts or when you are not the person itt happened to, you create fear and anxiety with people who are already leary of mods and keyloggers to begin with. For the most part, keyloggers are more a sign of PC knowledge and awareness than anything else.
The way to never get a keylogger, is never install from a bat or exe file. I always unzip it (get scanned by my virus scanner for anything bad) and move the files into the interface folder (or just use ace updater, or even curse (but keep download exe/bat off)).
Cannot get a keylogger from the WoW script files, can only get from running an exe/bat file, which I never do.
I would assume this person at one time downloaded an addon that was self-extracting exe and got it from that.

VortarA guild member and leader of ours got his account info logged recently after he updated his Omen from here. 5 70s cleared out and left naked.
I don't know if Omen was the cause or not, since keyloggers can get installed by just clicking a link, but I did find it odd that his virus scan had the keylogger found in the Omen addon folder that he just updated.
Coincidence?
I downloaded the Omen mod from here the next day and it showed no traces of a trojan or logger. Can these files get uploaded with loggers before they get checked, and will the virus check here catch EVERY trojan/logger?
I stopped dling mods from here after this, cause I know anyone can upload whatever they want. Usually they aren't as updated as the original source anyway. Just wondering how the keylogger showed up in his Omen folder after he updated it if it didn't come from here.
