Curse client security failure on Vista

Hoping someone can help me out with getting the curse client to install with Vista. I keep getting a message saying this:

"Failed to update security settings for World of Warcraft mod installation folder.
You will have to grant write on Interface/AddOns manually."

Now, what the hell does that mean, lol. Anyhow, I have tried running the client setup as admin with the same message. I tried doing it in compatability mode for XP SP/2 also, same result.

It appears to have installed and all, but, when I try to d/l and install add ons they never show in game. They also give me a weird grant write message when they are installing. The addon button never appears on the character screen......any help?

Thanks!

Damn Vista and it's over protective program files folder!

Always much easier to install WoW someplace else in the first place. :)

Navigate to your Interface folder (default C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface) and you should see the AddOns folder.

If it's not already there, just run WoW once in admin mode (right click the shortcut and select "Run as Administrator") and log in, then exit the game client. That should create the AddOns folder and populate the standard Blizzard Interface stuff.
Do it this way instead of manually creating the missing folder.

Now, right click the AddOns folder and select "Properties." Click the security tab, then the "Edit..." button (click through the normal security warning if it appears). In this window, click on "Users" in the first frame, then tick the "Modify" checkbox in the bottom frame. Click OK, click OK, and you're done. Run the Curse client install and it should complete without error this time.

Instead of granting permissions to the Users group, you have to press add and type 'Authenticated Users' and then Ok. Now grant full permissions to this group.
