The closes thing I can think of that resembles your description there is an addon called WoWEcon. Among other things, WoWEcon will keep track of items you've seen and list them in a window accessible vai a "/wowecon" command.

There was this AddOn I saw once, but I either neglected to download it or lost it, not reinstalling it when I switched UI packs. It kept track of every item you've ever seen, either had in your inventory/equipped, clicked the link to, or whatever. It was all accessible from the main window, which could sort them and things, and you could click them and see all the stats, equip them in the dressing room, etcetera. I was really hoping to get my hands on it again, if someone could remember its name!
