For gathering, I suggest using Cartographer and its various modules. Add the databases to fill your maps with the locations of found reagents.

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but Auctioneer is a great trader addon that scans AH in order to help calculate the best prices for your items.

Just a quick comment on the "guides" portion; we're in the process of getting a guide system set up, so expect the old v3 profession guides to be back, as well as the opportunity for the community to submit their own. :)
