Hackers Breach Blizzard

Last night our guild 'Stormreavers' on the Shadowmoon US Realm was disbanded. Not caused by anyone of ourselves, but by a hacker.

Basically a person named 'NAMED' was able to breech teh Blizzard Guild Framework and into Stormreavers. This person was considered an alt to us but was above all and had more power then even the guild master. When we tried to kick this person from the guild, it would not work. He spammed the GMOTD for about 15min asking for 10,000 gold or he would disband the guild. After that, the guild was disbanded.

A petition was sent into the GM's at blizzard to resolve the problem. Blizzard said they could re-establish our guild however "Stormreavers" was a name not allowed to be used since it is there IP supposidly. Back to business, this person has been doing this supposidly to many other realms and guilds on our server as well. Get the word out.

Sorry to hear about that happening. It's also odd that they're disallowing a name like Stormreavers due to IP issues. I could see a character name like that being disallowed, but a guild name?

At any rate, hopefully this person gets caught soon.

Yah the other thing is that even if they catch the guy, the bug may float to the net letting anyone do this to any guild. Blizzard better fix this.

Spelling out how to do this on a public forum isn't the smartest of ideas, but let me just say that it requires at least the co-operation of an officer in a guild to do this. There is a know way for someone of officer rank to demote the GM and promote someone else in there place, so someone in the guild must be at least partly at fault.

This actually happened to Nihilum as well, from what I understand. Fairly crappy situation to be put in when this happens. Hopefully it'll be fixed before too long.
