Then you have most likely unzipped the wrong.

Is it possible that i dont have to unzip because when i opened the file, they stuff inside did not say .zip at the end. It doesn't work tho. i tried to unzip them but they wouldn't so i'm guessing they are already unzipped. But the button will not apear in wow.

I don't really understand how to "unzip" a file... the whole part about getting the three or so files is not clear... I can never actually get to the files... =/

"Looking inside" a .zip file and finding other files that don't end in .zip is NOT the same as actually un-zipping it.

Windows comes with native support for .zip files so that you can open them like you open normal folders and see the files inside - but the files are still packaged INSIDE a Zip file.

Windows also does other things by default, like hiding the file extension of known file types, so that Zip files look even more like normal Windows folders.

My advice to anyone with these problems using a Windows based OS is to do the following :

1.) Open up Windows Explorer (- that is WINDOWS Explorer for exploring folders and NOT the Internet)

2.) Now Click on "Tools" in the Menu bar

3.) Select "Folder Options..." from the Drop down menu

4.) Click on the "View" Tab

5.) In the scroll box, UN-Check the Option that says "Hide extensions for known file types"

6.) Navigate to the \Interface\AddOns folder

6.) Click on "View" in the Menu bar

7.) Click on "Details" in the drop down menu

Now when you look in the \Interface\AddOns folder you should be able to see clearly which folders are actually proper AddOn folders, and which are ".zip" files.

Carrying out the above procedure may show more clearly what is going on, and what Zip files are exactly.

To actually un-zip the file, try the following :
Google for 7-Zip and download it. It's completely free with no registration messages.
Run 7-Zip once you have it installed, and then open the downloaded Zip file with it.
Then click "Extract" or "Un-Zip", and extract the files to the \Interface\AddOns folder....

( You don't actually need a thrid party zip program within Windows, as you can simply cut and paste the files.... but I'd say absolute beginners will get a clearer idea of what Zip files are by using a program like 7-Zip. )

Well, I just had to format puter and reload all and now none of the addons I have download in the past are there. Why? you ask? I don't have an addon button. Where the heck did it go? How do I get it back?

I just purchased a computer with windows vista on it. when I download the addon/mod i can access the desired file path (C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface.20071213-003906\AddOns).

But....when i go to view the file path to extract the downloaded file i cant access it. it tells me when i open the Interface.20071213-003906 that the folder is empty.(C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface.20071213-003906)

I know the files are in there because when i go to download the addon/mod i see all of blizzards addons in there and the one i downloaded

I tried the blizzard repair (Interface.20071213-003906) i've also made sure all the privilages are permitid (admin) i've uninstalled and reinstalled the game (off the network) still nothing.

can someone please help me i tried also with dell support and they told me that the file is only accessible online through a network....doesn't make much since seeing as how i can get it just fine on my other computer (windows xp) just fine.

WoW looks for,
./WorldofWarcraft/Interface/Addons
and nothing else,
so the addon folder containing the Addon Files needs to be in the,
C:\Program Files\WorldofWarcraft\Interface\Addons folder
NOTE: no date/time extensions.
Someone has renamed you Interface folder, presumably due to addon corrpution of the UI.
