You could unzip your addon files into a temporary folder because not all addons create the same folders. Then move the files to the game folder because it must end up in something like,

.\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\(the addon name)\(the files like TOC, LUA, XML)

Then before entering the world, sometimes you can click on the addon button on the bottom left corner to see if the addon in the list and available.

When you download an add on from curse, theyre usually in a zip folder. They look like normal folders, but have a zipper on them. These folder compress the files inside them to save space. You need to decompress them, or extract, to ensure they work properly. If you use XP, youll need to right click on the folder and choose 'Extract all...' Follow the extract wizard and extract them into your addons folder in your wow directory.

C:/ Program Files / World of Warcraft / Interface / AddOns

That is the default installation of WoW, so when you use the 'Extract All...' option, itll ask you where to extract them to. At that point, choose the browse options, and browse the that location and continue. It will then extract the add on into your AddOns folder.

I'd recommend to extract them to an empty folder on your desktop then into your AddOns folder. Reason being is that some add ons give different varients to thier add ons, so doing it this way will let you extract them, then choose what add ons you actually need. Although this normally isnt the case.

To make things even easier, Curse has an automatic installer, the Curse Client. When your on the page to choose a download mirror, you also have the option to install them automatically using the client, as long as you have the client running.

My only complaints with it, is that it automatically installs the most favorited add ons from Curse. If youd rather not have those, make sure you change settings from the system tray to not include those items.
