  • About WinterTime
  •

The latest version is always available at http://www.WinterTimeMod.com.

WinterTime is a timer/raid mod that uses many methods to keep track of the current time of Wintergrasp battles. There is a seperate frame to store the time or you are able to place the time in any DataBroker capable frame. WinterTime maintains a network that allows you to know the time no matter where you are as long as one other person has a valid time.

- Timer -
  • Wintertime gets valid times from
    • Other players in the WinterTime network
    • Every 5 minutes while in Northrend
    • Talking to a Dalaran portal keeper
    • Standing in Dalaran when a time is yelled
    • Entering Wintergrasp
  • Auto-Responses
    • Listens in Guild Chat for !wg and announce the time
    • Respondes to whispers of !wg
  • Displays kills and honor from a battle
  • Announces in guild at 30, 15, 5, 0 minutes before a battle
- Raid -
  • Automatically determines a raid to be for Wintergrasp if these conditions are met.
    • You are in a raid
    • You are in Dalaran or Wintergrasp
    • 50% of your raid is in Dalaran or Wintergrasp
  • Accepts invites whispered to you containing "inv" providing you are in a Wintergrasp raid
  • Auto-Raid can be enabled if you are determined to be the leader of a Wintergrasp raid
    • Announces in Trade chat every 1.5 or 2 minutes depending on the amount of trade traffic
  • Removes people from the raid who are Offline
  • Removes people from the raid who are low level
  • Removes people summoning portals or mole machines in the last 30 seconds before a battle
- Achievements -
  • WinterTime has a list of custom achievements to obtain, good luck!
- Command Line options -
  • /wt {assist | disband | demote | guild | options | reset | timer | version}
    • ""
      Displays current time
    • assist
Promotes everyone in the raid to assistant
    • disband
      Disbands the raid (requires leader)
    • demote
      Demotes everyone in the raid
    • guild
      Announces time in guild chat
    • options
      Opens the options GUI
    • reset
      Resets the timer to defaults
    • timer
      Displays timer frame
    • version

I've been using Wintertime for a long while now. It is a useful addon. Thank you for it.

I have only one issue, and I wonder if it can be removed from the addon.

When you are in a Raid, say ToC or any other raid, and a Mage opens a portal to leave the instance (say you finished ToC and are moving to Ony). As soon as the Mage starts casting a portal, he automatically gets kicked from the raid group by Wintertime. This happens only when WG has a battle going on and you have an assist in or leader of your non-WG raid.

I wasn't able to find an option to turn this off, but it is very annoying, and I don't actually see the point of it, even if you were in a WG group.

Can this "feature" either be removed from the code or at least be fixed to not kick Mages who are casting a portal but are not part of a WG raid? Or perhaps an option be added to disable it?

My guild is going to kill me one day if this keeps happening.

AGREED - this feature is so annoying that I've had to turn off the addon entirely. I got fed up with the addon taking automatic actions while I'm forming a raid for something non-WG related.

The auto-raid feature is now completely obsolete thanks to Blizzard's changes to WG, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE either take out all the auto-raid crap or give us an option to shut it off entirely.

Quite right that this is no longer required thanks to the new setup from Bliz.

For Outis, this was added because of idiot (or horde alt) mages that cast a portal over the WG portal in Dalaran as the battle started. This handy option therefore stopped the vast majority of your army from being ported so far away that they were unlikely to return to the battle in time.

I think wintertime is the source of this error:

can someone confirm this? If so - is this the best place to post to get it fixed?

The true usefulness of this addon is overshadowed by the asininity of fake achievements.

i hate the thing that it says when battle starts in /g ...its annoying and guild members dont like it, is there anyway to turn it off or remove it?or atleast change it a little so it only announces 10 mins before battle?

  • have you even tried to look? open the wintertime UI and there is a selection you can "unclick". viola. honestly i would love for this mod to have just the time till and chat spam abilities. the achievements are icing on the cake but just not a flavor i enjoy. :)

    Doesn't work.

You should be a little more specific.

What doesn't work? You don't get the frame? You don't get a time? You don't get a sync?

Most common problem is not having a general channel.

Try /join General if you left it previously.

  • So I unchecked the announce boxes for the fake achievements and thought i was done with them. Till I was in Wintergrasp today and had one of the boxes pop up showing me I had gotten one of them. It was really fun when it appeared right on top of where i keep my OhShit buttons. So yeah, couldn't click any of those and died. How do i turn off these things?

Correct, you unchecked the 'Announce' button. That means it will not announce that you received an achievement. However, you will still get a popup.

Maybe you could consider using a custom achievement system based on a library like http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/customachievements/ - UnderAchiever uses this and It seems to work very well

  • Yeah, that's what i said. I asked how to turn the things off. I unchecked the announce button, so at least the silly things don't announce anymore. But I'm still stuck with a pop up that is blocking parts of my I.U.

So, as I asked before, how do I turn these things off? If that can't be done, can they be moved? I have died twice now in wintergrasp because the fake achievement box has popped up over buttons on my action bar that I needed, and made them unusable until the thing faded.
Where is the option to turn them off, or at least a way to move their spawn point? If that is not possible, can you at least acknowledge that maybe this is an issue that needs some attention? Your idea with the fake achievements is cute, but when it disrupts actual game-play, I would think it would turn away users that would other wise enjoy your addon. I asked how to simply turn the things off because i can't imagine why that wouldn't be an option.
So what is your recommendation? Deal with the Wintergrasp deaths until all of the popups have been activated? Re-arrange my entire U.I. to accommodate the cutesy popups that I'd rather not have anyway?
Im still awaiting an answer, and not just a repeat of what I already said. Obviously, I've had to disable this addon in the meanwhile. Oddly enough, staying alive in Wintergrasp is more important to me than knowing when I've achieved some random goal that doesn't matter to anyone but the author of this addon.

You could always learn to key-bind?
If you're that worried about dying then key-binding would be faster than clicking ;D
