What is Who's That?

Who's That? provides extremely helpful information about your friends and guild members.

What kind of information?

Guild

If you're part of a guild, you know how frustrating it can be when someone logs on and you have no idea whether that person is a guild member or a friend. Who's That? will change the color of guild members' logons to your guild chat color, so you can easily tell who is who.

Friends

Have you ever noticed that your friends list got smaller because someone deleted their character or transferred servers, but you have no idea who? Who's That will tell you exactly which friend is no longer on your list.

Anything else?

Who's That? also allows you to use nicknames for your friends (or enemies?) that will replace their character name in messages.

There are lots of ideas that may be implemented into Who's That? in the near future. If you have anything you'd like to see in this addon, drop a comment and let me know!

AuldLangSyne is back and working now, so you may be able to have a look in to the code of it (if you're considering adding the option that is).

Since AuldLangSyne does a lot, and seems to break a fair bit when Blizzard updates, might be useful to have a mod out there that has the option to do similar things to it.

Check out what else AuldLangSyne does, like colouring classes, levels and so on. Might be interesting to experiment with those kind of things for this mod (unless it is spanning away from the intention of the mod). :)

Not sure if you have it in this addon or not, but I'd like to see the guild name of the friend listed next to their class.

Already got the ability to make notes about who the player is, but since AuldLangSyne has kind of died, I've been missing the ability to bring up my friends list and see what Guild they are from. It seemed to be able to check and update the information if the player left one guild and joined another.

...So it would be awesome if this was added into this addon. Kind of fits into the whole 'who's that' idea.

Missed that fix in 1.5.. Just fixed it in 1.6. Not sure when I'm releasing it yet, but it should be soon.

Leigheas: That issue should be fixed in 1.5, which will be available within the next few hours :)

Seems like the first time a char logs in with the addon installed you get

WhosThat.lua line 240: attempt to get length of global 'WhosThatFriendsList' (a nil value)

I just found that the 1.4 release has some bugs that I swear I tested for. I logged off and on between multiple characters without issues, but just minutes ago I was greeted with an error prompt when logging into a character I hadn't previously tried. However, These errors will NOT impact the functionality of Who's That? at all. If you come across anything not working as intended, please post here and I will add a fix into the 1.5 release.

    Thanks

    Hi daijitsu,

I'm not sure why it would be printing messages twice for you.. I can't reproduce it. I'll look further into that though. The issue of all characters being reported as deleted was a known one, and has been fixed in release 1.4, which should be available shortly (I uploaded it just before posting this). I am planning to add options at a later date (for logon colors/last online tracking/etc), but I'm concentrating on getting the functionality golden before I start tweaking. I'm glad you gave it a shot, and I hope 1.4 will give you a nice glimpse of things to come ;)

I only recently installed this, but I'm finding that not only is it doing what it's SUPPOSED to do with printing log on/off notices in guild or normal coloring, but it seems to be doubling the message. I can live with it, since I often don't notice people pop in and out of the game (especially during times I'm in a city and /2 is flying by), but the larger block of color in the corner of my vision could prove to be beneficial...

Another thing I noticed is that when I first started up warcraft, the mod listed EVERYONE on my friends list as having deleted their characters. I obviously haven't had a chance to wait for someone to ACTUALLY delete their character, so I'm not sure if the mod now sees everyone as non-existant or if it was just a screen-print test. I might get a friend to create a new character to test if it shows it upon first adding someone, upon restarting wow with them in friends for the first time, and of course what happens when they delete themselves.

At any rate, I think a basic options menu, or at the very least a couple of slash commands to turn on and off specific features, would be great. keep up the good work, I'm going to keep an eye on this one!

1.3 has been uploaded and should be available shortly. The dropdown menus have been fixed to show all the original options, plus I added a new "Add to Friends" option.

If anyone has time for a couple new translations, please post them here. I need the following text translated in German, Spanish and French. If you're interested in adding a new language, please leave a post here letting me know which language you'd like to add.

    Needed translations:

    Add to Friends
Add this player to your friends list

Hey folks.. to be honest I really didn't think anyone was using Who's That, now that Blizzard incorporated their own notes system into the game. But since there are apparently some users still left out there (myself included), I'll be releasing an update this week.

Thanks a lot for the kind words :)

I love this add-on and use it constantly. Thanks for making it and sharing it with us.

It seems like a lot of the functionality has gone poof in the new patch. I can still manually (using text command) add notes when I first add a friend, but I can't right click on any names in the menu or add a note later on, either with text or clicking. Any updates on the horizon?
