  • About VisualHeal
  •

VisualHeal is a small and simple but powerful tool for all classes that visually shows your heals to others and heals incoming to you from others by means of two information-packed, yet intuitive bars:

The PlayerBar: Whenever anyone is healing you a bar will appear, showing you your own health, how much healing will be done by this particular heal, who is healing you and when it will complete. If several people are healing you, the heals will be sorted and stacked on a third bar at the end of the first two. The information about the next incoming heal will be displayed, and the part of the bar representing the next heal will gradually change color to green indicating the time left before the heal completes. This makes is easy to determine whether or not anyone is healing you, or you should drink a potion or use bandages (or heal yourself if you are a healer).

The HealBar: Whenever you cast a healing spell a bar will appear, which shows the health of the target, the incoming heal from others that will land before yours as well as the healing you are about to cast. This makes it extremely easy and fast to determine whether or not the heal is going to overheal.

VisualHeal significantly helps cooperation in large groups by showing exactly what is going on in a compact and easy to read format that makes it possible to react to the information before it is too late. It is also useful when not in a group, because it visually shows the size of the healing your are casting in relation to the health of your healing target, and instantly makes it clear whether or not the size of the heal is adequate.

Configuration: Type '/vh' or '/visualheal'.

Addon Communication: VisualHeal uses LibHealComm-4.0 for communicating healing. Ideally all healers in the group should have VisualHeal or another addon that uses LibHealComm-4.0 installed. VisualHeal will continue to function even if some healers don't have it, but it will not be aware of healing cast by these players. VisualHeal also contains a backward compatibility layer so it will be able to communicate with LibHealComm-3.0 users.

    Hi,

Thanks for the AddOn, but for some reason I can't get it to work. I'm a Hunter, and my Priest friend and I want to use VisualHeal so I stop asking her to heal me when she's already halfway through casting it.

However, I can't seem to get it to work. It works fine on the Priest's system, but I never get a PlayerBar appear to tell me what's happening - in fact, if I show the bars in the /vh settings panel, it disappears as soon as a heal is started on me.

I don't have many addons installed - TitanPanel, Atlas, and VisualHeal. Can anyone help me figure out what's going wrong?

    Thanks!

Congratulations.Imo you have made the best healer add-on ever! But i'd like to know the HoTs healing amount on me and on my targets.Keep up the good work!

Thanks. It is planned to be able to show multiple healbars, and to have the healbars stay up as long as you have hots on the targets.

10.4 contains the fixed LibHealComm-4.0 that doesn't break on update. This will solve the issues with HealBot.

I thought it was Healbot that was throwing the LibHealComm 4.0 error, but it seems that the error only appears in VH versions 10.2 and 10.3

Version 10.1 plays well with Healbot and LibHealComm 4.0

The LibHealComm 4.0 error is thrown once the addons load and everytime a heal is cast using Healbot.

Check out the Healbot thread for the exact LibHealComm 4.0 error.

This has been identified as an error in the upgrade path for LibHealComm-4.0. The author of the library has been notified.

In the meanwhile this can be fixed by installing the *latest* standalone version of LibHealComm-4.0, as that will avoid the library upgrade (newest revision is always loaded first). I have verified in-game that this solves the problem.

This is the link to the *latest* standalone version: http://static.wowace.com/content/files/393/109/LibHealComm-4.0-1.5.2-release-2-g5d5f15f.zip

Alternatively you can set the Curse Client to get the Alpha version, and that will work too (right click the addon line and select "Install Type"->"Alpha").

  • VH does not work with healbot. I went through all my addons and turned them off, relogging and logging each time. When I turned off Healbot, VH worked (cast bars appeared), when I turned healbot back on and relogged, VH did not work.

This is a great mod and worked with Healbot before. Are you able to look into this matter so I can continue to enjoy VH? Thanks.

This addon does not have any direct interoperation with Healbot, so most probably this is an issue with the LibHealComm-4.0 library which is used by both. Can you try to install the LibHealComm-4.0 library as standalone (available from this site), as that will reduce the complexity of the code runtime behaviour, and may eliminate the error. Please report what you find.

Nope, stand alone doesn't fix the problem and LibHealComm 4.0 is throwing an error (nil). Player bar works with Healbot, but the main heal bar is not working.

  • I've been using it for a long time as well and enjoy the functionality but recently I've been having problems with it. Specifically it will display other people's heals but not my own. Any suggestions? I've downloaded what should be the latest release version of both libhealcom 4 and visualheal.

I can't do anything to help you unless you provide information that can actually reproduce the problem. Basically you leave me with "it doesn't work anymore" - how am i supposed to fix that? Please provide at least the basic information. For example: which class you are playing. does it happen only sometimes. by "recently" do you mean it suddenly stopped working, or did you upgrade and then it stopped working. have you tried without any other addons running? etc. etc. etc.

I've been using this addon for a very long time and I find it absolutely essential to any proper healer.

I do have a request to make. Sticky HealBar is useful, however, I'd ask for an option to keep it sticky only for my focus. Or make the healbar always appear, detailing heals on my current target. With the new HoT thingie, I'd love that feature.

There will be some changes to the healbar with multiple targets (multiple bars), and the bars will stay up as long as you have hots on these targets. I.e. the healbar will be generalised to treat casted heals and hots equally.

Also note your path to the file may differ. I'm lazy and have vista, so that's mine. XP shoudl look more like
    C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\VisualHeal\Libs\LibHealComm-4.0\LibHealComm-4.0.lua

be default and any custom installs, well your on your own, search for LibHealComm-4.0.lua and hope you don't have multiple install paths for it to find.

There are two errors in C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\VisualHeal\Libs\LibHealComm-4.0\LibHealComm-4.0.lua

the first is line 1495 appears there issue with an extra end there, I edited mine to
    ******************************************
-- Temporary to ensure the new fixed version is used even when upgrading from an older version
    if( HealComm.healingStackMods ) then
    HealComm.healingStackMods[getName(45242)] = function(name, rank, icon, stacks) return 1 + (stacks * (0.02 + rankNumbers[rank]))
    end
    end
    ***********************************

and that fixes that, then the next error shows up at line 1516 an end is missing to close the function after the if closes. Most likely someone accidentally dragged a highlighted end and "moved" it causing both errors.

    My edit looked like

    ********************
    local distribution
    local function sendMessage(msg)
    if( distribution ) then
    SendAddonMessage(COMM_PREFIX, msg, distribution)
    end
    end
    ************************

I do not have a way to post a fixed version of the lua file and I am sure the limit on the text here will not help.

Directions open up the file mentioned above using notepad, then click CTRL+G and enter the line numbers I posted above, locate the erroneous text and make it look like what I posted, save the file [do not do this while wow is open] and rerun wow. Should fix it for now if you have the slightest text editing skills. the rest of you will have to wait for a patch of some sort.
