  • About VisualHeal
  •

VisualHeal is a small and simple but powerful tool for all classes that visually shows your heals to others and heals incoming to you from others by means of two information-packed, yet intuitive bars:

The PlayerBar: Whenever anyone is healing you a bar will appear, showing you your own health, how much healing will be done by this particular heal, who is healing you and when it will complete. If several people are healing you, the heals will be sorted and stacked on a third bar at the end of the first two. The information about the next incoming heal will be displayed, and the part of the bar representing the next heal will gradually change color to green indicating the time left before the heal completes. This makes is easy to determine whether or not anyone is healing you, or you should drink a potion or use bandages (or heal yourself if you are a healer).

The HealBar: Whenever you cast a healing spell a bar will appear, which shows the health of the target, the incoming heal from others that will land before yours as well as the healing you are about to cast. This makes it extremely easy and fast to determine whether or not the heal is going to overheal.

VisualHeal significantly helps cooperation in large groups by showing exactly what is going on in a compact and easy to read format that makes it possible to react to the information before it is too late. It is also useful when not in a group, because it visually shows the size of the healing your are casting in relation to the health of your healing target, and instantly makes it clear whether or not the size of the heal is adequate.

Configuration: Type '/vh config'. To move the bars from the default position type '/vh show'.

Addon Communication: VisualHeal, PitBull, BunchOfBars, oUF, Grid, PerfectRaid, ag_unitframes, X-Perl and sRaidFrames all use LibHealComm-3.0 for communicating healing. Ideally all healers in the group should have VisualHeal or another addon that uses LibHealComm-3.0 installed. VisualHeal will continue to function even if some healers don't have it, but it will not be aware of healing cast by these players.

Same thing here, but only after switching talents. Almost every healing ability triggers this error. Rolled back to previous version for a while.

Should be fixed in 8.8. It was actually triggered whenever your maximum health change, and it only happens when not using LibQuickHealth-2.0 (which was why i didn't catch it!). Thanks for reporting this!

But IS there any reason to support LibQuickHealth-2.0? AFAIK, it's been unofficialy updated and still not triggering events like Spirit Release in Naxxaramas. What's the benefits of supporting his library?

The bug was not related to LibQuickHealth-2.0. It was introduced because as a side-effect of looking at the LibQuickHealth-2.0 example code, i realised that i needed to listen to UNIT_MAXHEALTH in addition to UNIT_HEALTH. I just added it the wrong way (i tried to make it use the same handler as UNIT_HEALTH, using a technique in Ace, but applied it to a normal WoW API, that didn't support it). If you don't have LibQuickHealth-2.0 it does the same as before, except that it now also listens to UNIT_MAXHEALTH.

Mmm, even looks good for a tank... you never know if that greater heal will hit on time, before slamming the potion button... :-)

  • This is an incredible addon and a must have. Would it be possible to make a similar addon for mana (it would, of course, move the other way typically)?

That would definitly be outside the scope of this addon, and personally i have no interest in it.

The only weirdness I'm seeing with this addon in 3.1 is related to my Prayer of Healing spell. Prior to this patch, it was always cast on my party and whenever I started casting it I'd see the vh healbar telling me that I was healing myself. Which was true, as I was healing my party -- including myself.

But starting in 3.1 I can now cast Prayer of Healing on any party in the raid. But yet when I start casting it, even if I'm healing a different party than mine, visual heal still shows the heal bar saying that I'm healing myself. (I'm not, and I see the heal go off on the other party, but it does tend to confuse me. :) )

I have no idea what's causing it, but wanted to report it!
