    A (hopefully) small change request.

Could you make it so that each time the mod notifies you it stops the playing sound and starts it again? Also if you change out of Viper it again stops playing the notify sound?

I only ask this, as I'd like to use music as the notify, but need it to not stack up and turn off when I change out of Viper.

Great addon though. Helps me immensely!

The function I use to play sounds can't be stopped. There is a different function used to loop music that can be stopped, but it would not be appropriate for playing short sounds at an interval.

The best I can suggest for you is to use a shorter music clip, and adjust the timer interval to match the length of the clip.

    This is a great add-on.
    Thank you for your work.

I have already found here in the comments section, a few soloutions to tweaks i wanted to make.

In the interest of helping to make this mod even better i have a couple of suggestions.
Would it be possible to add an option to disable subsequent warning sounds if you are performing a channelling function? (such as mining, or mounting up) As it can be a little annoying to get two warnings when unable to respond due to current channelling. Although setting the warning to ping at longer intervals might help with this.
Would it be possible to set ViperNotify to enable a preset Aspect when in Viperform and at full mana? (for example, in Viperform and have just reached full mana, then ViperNotify changes your aspect to Hawkform).

Thanks for the comment :) I'll consider putting in a check for channelling spells, I hadn't thought of it before. This also affects volley though, soo... I'll have to think about it ;)

As for changing your aspect at full mana, this cannot be done automatically by a mod while in combat. It may be possible out of combat, but I don't know how to do it.

I have a problem, it isn't displaying when I have full mana and Viper is still on... any solutions? :)

Are you using the version for 3.3.0? When you say it isn't displaying, does this mean you can still hear the sound? There is a slider that controls where the message is output to, you could try fiddling with that.

    I love this addon :-)

Any way to edit this so it notifies you when TBW expires and you still have AotB up?

If you don't mind spending some time to understand it you can do some quite intresting things like that using Power Auras

  • Thank you for a great and simple addon. I seem to have difficulty getting the text color to change even though it clearly changes it within the config, it still stays black. I checked to see if MikScrollingBattleText was interfering, but could not find anything associated with the black color. Any thoughts?

Hmm... it is only a problem when MSBT is enabled? I don't use it myself so I don't know if there are any conflicts. It sounds like the alpha might not be set correctly. Does the color stick when you use a different warning method?

  • When MSBT is disabled within its own config, the sound on Viper Notify still works, yet there is no notification at all. When MSBT is unloaded completely, Viper Notify sound works as well as the proper notification text color. So I guess it is somewhere within MSBT that I need to find to prevent this. No big deal now that I know where the issue is, I can work around it. Thanks so much for the response.

Found the problem, I'm sending the color info to MSBT in the wrong format. I'll get that fixed up soonish :)

  • You rock! It's working perfectly with MSBT enabled and my pretty pink color of choice ;)

Thanks again for the attention and the great addon.

For the last few days, I've noticed this addon acting oddly. It's been alerting me when my mana gets down to where I have it set to notify me... and that's it. If I turn viper on, it will still throw up a warning until my mana gets up past the % I have it set to, and it will not notify me at all at full mana. It does the same thing in and out of combat, though the "do not use while mounted" function still seems to work. I'm not getting any Lua errors, and neither deleting the settings files nor reinstalling the addon seem to affect it.

Apparently, the problem lies with Gryphonheart Item's "buffs", somehow. I went and disabled its custom buffs, and after the reload UI it prompred, ViperNotify is working properly. Odd!

Can u add your own .wav sounds?

    Reply Report Permalink
  • angelnorn said

Yup, just place your sound file anywhere in your WoW directory, and then provide the file path relative to the main WoW directory. I believe WoW also supports mp3 files.

So for example, if you have a file "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\ViperNotify\example.wav", then you would use "Interface\ViperNotify\example.wav"
