  • I have been trying to solve some differences between the various dps/damage tracking mods (I prefer Violation, most others I play with prefer recount). Anyhow, I did a simple test with a single mob kill and reporting on the damage done (not DPS) afterwards. It appears Violation counts "overkill" as damage done... im guessing this is the source of some of the differences (Violation usually higher than others). Is this proper, seems to me that overkill isnt technically damange done, but maybe im wrong.

  • Am I missing something, or is there no way to have a recap of the last 10 encounters ... or is it either a running total or a reset before or after each encounter?

  • And BTW why does it say "no module running" ... "set one up in the configuration menu". If the configuration menu is the flyout, then where do I start a module running?

In my guild we use Recount also, and it DOES NOT sync, we tried different dmg meters and the the one we liked best before wotlk was SW_Stats, it synced well and all got the same numbers even when not in same raid/party. Dunno though if sw works now. It's better to have consistent numbers rather then 'accurate' 'cause then you have something reliable to refer too when changing gear/cycles. Gonna give violation a try now

  • Enter /recount sync and take a look.

I am using Violation and love it. Not the mem hog that Recount is. But others in my raiding party are using Recount and they seem to get lower numbers for total damage and dps than I do. Is it more likely that Recount is missing some of the damage or that Violation is recording damage that really isn't there?

My Guildies tell me that Recount users sync with each other, so they "must" be more accurate. I seem to be the only user of Violation in my guild. So which really is more accurate? Recount or Violation?

  • just started using this over recount, a few problems.

1st - if i try to reset it then i have to go into the right click options and manualy set it to reshow, just clicking on mimi map button brings up a message saying its not set to show anything.

2 - compairing the damage and more importantly the DPS of other party members with someone using recount, it matches, BUT my DPS is ALLWAYS 2.2k. ive looked thro the options etc but realy can not see im doing anythin g wrong, and im pretty sure im not 100% constant 2.2k DPS. any ideas?

This addon is easier to use with a nice simple interface and is just as accurate as recount. Violation 5 Stars in my book. Good job.

Personally, I like this addon very much. Thus far a nice replacement to DamageMeters (no longer supported) and SW_STATS (no longer supported) without all the fluff, bs and bloat of Recount. I also have had no bugs with this whatsoever!

The only thing I would like to throw out there is that it is dependant on who is currently in your raid / group, once someone leaves it no longer reports their DPS. Is there a way to change this option that I have overlooked? If not can we put an option to turn that off on the list of things to do?

Thank you and keep up the great work.

Anyway to make this report similar to Recount? What I mean is when you report with Recount you get total Damage Done followed by DPS in parenthesis, so you get all the info you want/need and don't have to spam it twice. And less important you see the total percent of the damage you did to the boss/mobs, still nice to know but not as important as DPS and overall Damage.

    Example reporting from Recount:

Recount - Damage Done for Overall Data
    1. Jexx - 24980 (1580.0, 100%)

And before anyone suggests, I can't edit Violation myself for this change, because I have no clue how to do something like that , I can't imagine it would be that hard to add something like this, but as I said I don't really know...just throwing a suggestion out there. I'm trying to make the switch to Violation from Recount, because Recount is a HUGE memory hog when raiding.

Oh and I've noticed when comparing DPS from Violation to Recount, Violation always reports alot higher for me as well.

Does the DPS thing word correctly?
I don't think it does, cause it said i had 1.1k DPS the whole instance, and i tried different things... Spamming frost bolt and using wand had the same dps (1.1k DPS)

I am having no problems using or seeing Violation. The only issue I have is that the mini map button has to be repossitioned every time I log in. Is there a way to lock the possition of the mini map button?

    Great addon, thx.
