  • About TrickOrTreat
  •

As I am no longer playing WoW, this mod will not be updated. Feel free to send me a PM if you wish to help maintain it.

A fairly simplistic addon to keep track of Tricks of the Trade. The latest release (2.0) introduces some improvements in code efficiency as well as some new features.

Use /tot or /trickortreat to configure.

Features:

  • Alerts you when you apply tricks to a target - Uses the RaidWarning frame and sends a tell to your target to let them know you are misdirecting. If the target is not a tank and they are over 50% threat, it will tell them their threat in relation to the tank.
  • Alerts you when you receive tricks from a rogue - Uses the RaidWarning frame and plays an audible alert.
  • Reports damage dealt over the duration of tricks when you misdirect a target.
  • Reports extra damage dealt by your target due to Tricks.
  • New in 2.0 Maintains a list of extra damage caused by party/raid members. This is monitored by the LDB plugin. This feature is not fully implemented yet. There will be options to report the data in various ways and control if and when the data is automatically reset.

Caveats:

  • LDB tooltip sometimes errors when joining a new group after leaving one.
  • Damage parsing on targets is not accurate for DoTs applied prior to tricks being applied.

Bugs:

  • Damage tracking on others isn't accurate because of a heinous bug I discovered. Fixed in next release. Fixed in 2.0
  • LibSink not declared properly. Will still run if you're using any number of other mods: Loggerhead, Parrot, TomQuest2, Prat3, many others... It's just a TOC declaration that I've goofed on. It's fixed in the next release as well. Fixed in 2.0

Um, sry for 2 posts but also, I don't see an embeds.xml file - I've re-downloaded it and extracted to a seperate place to check and I still don't see one.

  • embeds.xml is an old construct used back in the days of files.wowace.com. Dependencies are rolled up into the TOC. Sounds to me like you're running your addons disembedded, and that's why you're getting the strange behavior. Why not delete ToT entirely and reinstall?

"Why not delete ToT entirely and reinstall?"

    I did try that.
It's wierd, I got it working without ticktimer but it's still dependent on another addon being active (I think at the moment it'll only work when slice commander is active) - I'm still getting the same Callback error when I log in without Slicecommander active and again the menu isn't available. I thught initially the problem was my chat addon, which was BasicChatMods - I saw an older comment below about Phanx, so switched to that - and that enabled me to get rid of Ticktimer, but I'm not sure if I had slicecommander active at the time. Hope that makes sense. Anyway, I'll try a reinstall again and see what happens. Thanks for the response.

I have a problem with this add-on. I enabled it at the same time I decided to enable ticktimer (I had previously not used either) - everything was fine, "great addon" thought I. Aaaanyway, I did't really like ticktimer so I disabled it. Then, trickortreat stopped working. No menu and a wierd LUA, Callback error upon logging in. Odd, I thought. So, I re-enabled ticktimer and ... voila, trickortreat menu is back. Now, I don't really want ticktimer, but I DO want trickortreat. Any ideas?
p.s Version is the 2.01 beta

    sorry for bad english

    wonderful mod
I would love to see the feature to whisper the threat that i've dome to the target. its .71x of demage done. An a broadcast option in /p, /ra or /rw would be awsome too

again sorry for my bad english

  • I've been reluctant to do this... It's entirely possible that you'll be using Tricks in conjunction with Blade Flurry, Fan, or just switching targets manually. In these cases, a flat threat number is less meaningful. Would you pick your own target and only filter out damage done to that one? Would you report the damage as a whole?

Don't expect to see this implemented.

  • Definitely something I've wanted to do. There's a "2.0" somewhere on the horizon. I'll do my best to include this feature.

Sadly, I keep getting an error; odd, because I downloaded the library separately, and I do see that it's in the folder for Tricks itself.

  • Sometimes when using this in raid on my focus target the whisper does not get sent and after it ends it sends my focus target that they did 0 extra damage.

  • This is working as intended.

What you're assuming isn't what the tell is describing. The first half is the amount of damage you, the Rogue dealt. This is to give you an idea of how much threat was given to your target in the case of a tank. The second part is the extra damage your target deals because of the 15% or 25% damage boost.

  • Umm this addon looks great but it doesnt seem to be working properly.... this is what happens when i use it on people:

[04:05:15] [W To] [80:Naussicaa]: Just trixed you bru
[04:05:20] TrickOrTreat: 314 damage dealt during Tricks. Target did 2 extra.
[04:05:20] [W To] [80:Naussicaa]: Tricks gave you 2 extra damage.

Note: Naussicaa did well over 314 dmg X_x!, the same damage comes up every time, i dunno if u can fix or or not, thanks!

  • After fiddling around with other mods it seems to work fine now, dunno what caused the issues.

  • I've been testing it a bit now and sometimes it works but 90% of the time it seems to not record the damage done by me correctly or the extra damage done by my tott target. It gives me values like : my dmg = 300, tott target dmg = 1. This is while we're all out nuking a boss so it seems like it's failing to register the correct damage done.

  • Any plans on implementing the options to turn off the RW and tell messages? Nice mod though!
