  • About TradeSkill HD
  •

Enhances the TradeSkill Frame for better viewing on high resolutions and devices. Doubled window size and cleaned up all positioning and rendering. Improved performance over other Ui Enhancers. (Users should only experience a delay when opening the TradeSkill Frame for the first time.)

Author's Note:

Two days of coding and one day of debugging. Should work with any language since it only modifies the layout and textures. Found out half-way through this project that DoubleWide had a TradeSkill version. I installed it and didn't like the layout. Plus it seemed to cause the Ui to Lag on my computer. Open to comments and suggestions. Hope you all enjoy!

  • I would concur with others about the move-ability of the trade skill window. Also to not have the trade skill window close if I ctrl+left click an item to see a preview on my character. Mainly because I have to re-find that item in my long list of craft-able items. Otherwise I have to say this addon is awesome.

Seems broken under 3.2.2 today. I only see a tiny subset of my skills with Tradeskill HD enabled :-(

Since the upgrade to 1.06 after I've opened a trade skill window I am no longer able to trade with anyone! The error message I get on trying to trade is:

    Message: ..\AddOns\TradeskillHD\TradeFrameOverflow.lua line 6:
attempt to call global 'TradeSkillFrameCollapse' (a nil value)
    Debug:
    [C]: TradeSkillFrameCollapse()
    TradeskillHD\TradeFrameOverflow.lua:6:
    TradeskillHD\TradeFrameOverflow.lua:3

I agree that this addon would be great if you could have it open with the AH at the same time. Nice work on it so far!

Just recently got this addon...mainly for my JC and I thought this was an awesome addon.

But I was having a minor issue with one profession. Im finding its not possible to use this Addon with my Enchanter toon since its covering the Trade window completely with the Tradeskill window.

Not sure if it would be possible to do one of three things but if so then that would be Awesome:
    1) Make it movable.
    2) Have it act like the blizzard defualt tradeskill window when a trade window is opened. (shutted off to the side)
    3) Adjust the current fixed location to be able to click on all windows behind it.

I'm working on a seperate add-on that allows default windows to move, but you said it covers the Trade Window when it's open? Also, what windows are opening behind it? Also what Resolution are you running wow at?

Im running WoW in 1024x768 res.

I had every interface window of that same size as the trade window pane being covered by this addon.
I have no problems with the ones like the Character pane which has several tabs that stick down from the Window box allowing me to click back and forth. But the Trade window doesnt have anything like that and once covered by the addon to find the enchant was unable to go back to the trade window to enchant another player's gear.

I have already disabled it for my Enchant/Tailor. I still perfer it to any of the other trade addons available for my other crafting trades I currently use. Inscription, Jewelcrafting, Alchemy and there supporting professions being my main uses for this addon at this time.

For me Im not about to sit around and waste time on Dailies when I can craft and toss on the AH :)
so of course I will still be using this one and thanks for creating it

I would really like to see this work with EnhancedTradeskillUI. This mod's layout is perfect, but I absolutely hate any windows that I can't move. EnhancedTradeSkillUI unlocks the trade window, so that it can be moved, as well as scaling it to look more normal on large monitors (everything's so large, by default - makes me dizzy).

At the moment, I am sticking with ETUI (the previously mentioned mod) and leaving your mod disabled - even though your layout is much better, I simply cannot live with a locked tradeskill window. I need to move it around freely, else I go insane. Plus, scaling the size down to 85% is nice.

Maybe I'll just look for mods that allow me to unlock and resize everything... Or maybe parts of that are built into the game - I don't really know. I'm kinda new to WoW (I tried it several times, never could get into it - this time, I'm sticking around just because I have real life friends in the game, and they're making it worth playing, if not somewhat fun), so I'm working at figuring out everything, still.

150 folders (probably about 50 mods, many with multiple parts) in my AddOns folder, and counting!

  • I'm also looking for a Skillet/ATSW replacement. This looks promising, but I'd like to see a Queue made along with checking to see what's in your bank.

If your looking for a Queue ability, check out Cauldron. Personally I didn't care for it or a queue and I'm hoping the author of TradeskillHD will opt to keep their addon simple. About the only thing I see a need for is perhaps a few more sorting/hide/show options and the ability to move the window, that's it. Of course the fact that I already have three addons telling me what is in my bank may have something to do with it as well lol (Altoholic, Bagnon, Carbonite). Don't need another. ;)

I like the idea of color coding each item by it's quality and level. Also, is there a way to move the window?

I tried a couple of trade skill enhancement addons. In the end I came back to this. Simple and does what I need without any fancy gizmos or doo-dads. Hope it stays lean and mean. ;)

  • Like a lot of other people, I´m looking for an ATSW replacement.

The only reason I still use ASTW is the custom sorting feature, as I have a whole lot of recipes I don´t really care about any more.

Is this a feature you would consider?

I like how you think, Drac86! Please don't add a lot of situational functionality that degrades from the overall performance or interface. This addon is perfection as is.

Well, at least if you were to add a lot of complexity and features, you could just release a new addon and leave this gem as is!

I've been looking for an alternative to ATSW for a long time, since it doesn't seem to be under very active maintenance, nor does Skillet. This addon looks very promising! I have a few comments, and additions to Reeb's comment below me.

    1) I agree with having this show levels, color coded to item quality.

    2) I agree with tooltips. However, with ATSW I never have tooltips enabled since they were always the exact width of the skills list, and covered all the skills below where my mouse is. If you were to implement this, make sure the tooltip either uses the default tt anchor, or else has the top left corner of the tt anchored to the mouse. (Or let the user configure where to anchor tt to mouse)

    3) I would love to see options to have this sort by difficulty. That is one of the biggest reasons I haven't just dumped ATSW and gone back to the default profession UI yet. Sort by name is also useful every now and then.

If you feel that these requests are beyond the scope of your vision for the mod, would you mind me coding them in and have you incorporate them, or would you mind me forking this mod? (It's the only non-buggy base so far!)

There seems to be a lot of demand for sorting and hover additions to Tradeskill mods... I will be looking into it; However, the core of my programming is to enhance the default Ui for advanced users like myself. Whether it being High Definition Graphics or more Complex interfaces, I will NEVER sacrifice performance of the game for functionality. This project was almost scrapped due to a 3 second hang time upon updating the frame during inventory updates. I'm glad to know you all like my modding so far, but you haven't seen nothing yet. (As soon as forge becomes available again, I'll post a Mission Statement on there). Thanks for your comment. :)
