  • About Trade Skill List
  •

Trade Skill List makes it easy to create attractive lists of the items you can crafts and the enchants you can perform that you can then post on the web to share with your guild or with others that might be interested in getting items from you.

The lists include the names of the items or enchants as well as their capabilities, and indicates which items are uncommon, rare, or epic. Links to Thottbot are provided for additional information.

To use it, just open the trade skill window you want to get a list from and then type "/tsl" in the chat window. A few moments later, a window pops up with the HTML you can copy and paste into your web site.

For details and an example of what the output looks like, visit http://www.syndicomm.com/wowstuff/tsl.

How about adding an option to turn off the descriptions so it's just a list with thottbot mouseovers please?

i was wondering if anyone was able to get this to work with wowhead or the new thottbot?

  • This looks like a great idea, but I can't get it to work. I open the window and type /tsl, and nothing happens, except that wow tells me to type /help to see commands.

I've checked my addons folder, and even disabled Advanced Trade Skill window, with no luck.

  • Nice and very useful. You even went to the trouble of generating tidy xhtml! Aside from davincikitti's comments about wowhead/bbcode/filters it might be nice to include the reagent costs as well, with wowhead/bbcode links for those too.

  • The Enchanting links (to Thottbot) aren't correct. Hovering over most enchanting links shows random other items and abilities. For example, Enchant Boots - Assault shows "item not found" and Enchant Bracers - Exceptional Intellect shows "Swift Mooncloth Carpet". All other tradeskills I tested looked to be fine.

This is a great tool. I have a few suggestions to make it a little more user friendly...
~ Allow the user to choose whether they want to use Wowhead or Thottbot tags
~ Allow the user to toggle publishing between the format for html as it is now and bbcode for forum use. Another commenter here adapted it for bbcode and it worked beautifully on my forum.
~ Allow the user to choose a skill range to export, so that instead of showing all 475 skill levels' worth of recipes for my tailor, I see only the ones I think are pertinent to level 80's.

Thanks for keeping up this mod!

OK, this is going to be a stupid question probably, but I can't get it to work. I brought up the HTML page using /tsl, it was highlighted so I pressed ctrl + c to copy, but when I ctrl+v into a forum post, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

  • You need to unmark the text, then mark it all again (CTRL + A) and then copy it (CTRL + C). For some reason the text isn't really marked even though it looks like it.

I modified the add-on to output the information in a forum friendly format (BBCode). It was a pretty simple and easy change that has helped the guild keep up to date on who has what patterns. :)

Thank you for such a helpful tool!

  • Is there anyway you could post the diff, or the changed files or something?

  • Thanks for this very simple but very awesome addon. I hope you don't mind me modifying it a bit. Changed the thottbot support to wowhead and made a few changes to the layout output.

Does not work says the file already exists when clearly it does not

Oh, I'm also going to add links at the top that will take you straight to each of the sections, which will also help.

The 0/0 thing is a known bug for enchanting. I'm planning to fix it soon.

I can totally do what you suggest with the different modes. I'll see what I can do. :)

  • Yeah, that's is a great idea Savant99, I was going to suggest the same, but you already mentioned it.

I am enchanter and the crafting list would take like 2 pages on my guild forum :D
So, Sheppe, could you please add this to your addon as fast as possible.

Keep up the good work, the addon looks very nice, I will download it later today.

I've been looking for something like this, although I would like to make some suggestions if I may. While having an HTML output is nice, there are occasions when a person might want a simple 'down and dirty' list of what they can do. I'm talking about plain text, which would allow them to post it on the forums (either the WoW forums or their own private guild forum). The WoW forum doesn't support HTML, and most guild forums only support basic HTML functions, if any. The other thing that would be handy would be to have the name of the skill and the description on the same line. With so many skills these lists get huge, so to save scrolling could you make a condensed view? Perhaps you could offer a few choices for output, using a / command switch to change modes...

HTML full (as you have it now)
HTML lite (would have skill and description on same line with no spaces between lines)
HTML titles (would have titles only, no descriptions, again, with no spaces between lines)
TEXT full (as you have it now, but put the link in text beside the skill name)
TEXT lite (would have skill and description on same line with no spaces between lines)
TEXT titles (would have titles only, no descriptions, again, with no spaces between lines)

Also to note, a minor bug, when I ran it the output displayed my skill as 0/0 - this might not be a big deal, or it may be intended, I couldn't tell.
