  • About TooManyAddons
  •

This mod is like an 'outfitter' of mods. Type a title and click new profile, select what addons you want to load with this profile, and whenever you click load profile the checked profile will load those, and only those, addons.

Directions:

   * There is a new 'addon' button in the game menu, that opens up the TooManyAddons interface.
   * '/TMA' will also open up the interface.
   * Create a profile by typing in the profile name and hitting enter, or you can use the Default profile.
   * Select which addons you want to load as part of the profile.
   * When it is time to change addons, select the profile, then click 'Load Profile'

features that aren't instantly obvious:

   * '/TMA aProfile' will instantly load that profile. Handy for you macrophiles. Spelling must be exact.
   * The interface can be moved by dragging the 'profile' frame. You have to click on the edge of the frame or a clear spot.
   * A profile called 'Default' is created at the very first use of TooManyAddons, for your convenience. Feel free to delete it.
   * A profile called 'Always Load These Addons' will always exist. Anything checked in this profile will always load, no matter what. The checked items will appear grey or shiny in other profiles. By default, TooManyAddons will be checked in this profile.
   * Tooltips show you the description, author and status of the addon.
   * Clicking an addon will automatically click all of its dependencies.
   * Profiles from other characters can be added to the current profiles using the 'import profiles' dropdown.
   * The addon can be closed with the 'esc' key.
   * Addons may be grouped by name. Collapse/Expand buttons allow you to hide addons that are groups, for example, the AltasMod. Clicking the group header will click all of the addons in the group. Turn this feature on by clicking 'grouping' in the options.
   * Hold down the Ctrl or Shift key when selecting profiles to load addons from multiple profiles. Changes made to addons will affect all selected profiles.
   * The last loaded profile(s) will appear green(ish).
   * Options exist in the interface menu (or click the little 'O' button) to hide the Game Menu button, tooltips, groups, and more.
   * Global profiles are now implemented. Global profiles are profiles that are the same across ALL characters.

  • daxdax,

Is there something I'm missing? I've encountered nothing but problems with your implementation of the Global Profiles concept. Loading my already defined add on sets does not work as expected. It either only loads what's in my "Always Load" set -OR- what's in my "Custom Set" but not the "Always Load" set. I much prefer your working non-global profile version ...

The way I would to do it would be to use the "Always Load These Addons" as the global addon list -or- designate lists that will be global rather than trying to maintain two separate windows for lists (like a toggle at the top of the addon list for each addon set). I'm sure that would be easier for the slash command /tma to work properly with the defined addon sets.

sorry about that. I just realized you use the /slash commands. I have never ever used them. Yeah, that bit of code was broken. It should be fixed now. my bad.

A working, stable version that uses Global Profiles has been created.

I have switched the way I upload to use the Subversion tools. I have not figured it all out yet, so if you upload a new version and doesn't do as advertised, it's because I/Subversion packaged and uploaded the wrong thing. Let me know if such an event does occur.

An option panel has been added. Find it under Game Menu -> Interface -> Addons -> Toomanyaddons.
The 'grouping' feature has not worked as well as I had hoped, and has been disabled by default. It may be turned on in the options.
    Tooltips may also be hidden.

    More options to come.

Thanks for this great addon. I have two problems with it, however.

I'd like an option to completely disable the grouping mechanism--including any visual treatment. Grouping doesn't work very well, and even if I select "Expand All" the grouping behavior persists (so addons that really don't belong in a group are listed there using the indented smaller buttons, for example).

Worse, if I have to enable the addon listed at the head of a group, it will automatically enable all members of that group. The especially problematic example is with Fubar addons. An (apparently) random addon is selected at the father of the group (and not Fubar 3.6), so if I need to enable that particular addon, I get them all--wanted or not.

The other problem I'm having is with profile management. I can copy a profile from one character to another, but what I really need to do is assign multiple characters the same profile--so a change by any of the characters on that profile is automatically reflected by any character that uses that profile. As it is now, importing a profile just creates a copy, which then operates independently. This means if I have say, eight bank toons that I want to all share the same profile, and I make a change through one of the toons, I then have to manually import that profile into the other seven characters. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks again. I know you've put in a lot of work.

I'll get right on it. There's nothing I hate more than addons that give me a new 'feature' that supposedly makes things better, but only ends up in frustration.

Thanks for your hard work and dedication to this addon - It really helps and simplifies things when I need to keep memory low, and change addons on the fly.

This addon is really great for lower-end computers as well so you can keep addons unloaded while you don't need them. Sure it takes an extra 10 seconds to reload the UI but can easily give a framerate boost of 10fps or more if your running on limited ram.

    Again, thank you!

I have a bunch of addons that begin with "Auto," are unrelated, and grouped. Is it possible to have an option to only group dependent addons?

Is there anyway to load 'load on demand' addons without doing a full reloadui?

I luv this addon. Thanks for your hard work!.
Two addons do not show up in TMA:
    Questhelper,
    MinimapButtonFrame.

Is this a Bug/ Feature/ or Something Im doing wrong?

    Excellent addon, I love it!

Is there any way to prevent TMA from hijacking the addons options through the interface menu? (ESC => Interface => Addons). I would prefer TMA only appear through /tma and continue to be able to customize my addons options the normal way without TMA getting in the way.

Yup. Next version will have a Command /tma hidebutton to do what you request.

Hey, I like what you have done with the highlighting in green of the various profiles that are loaded. Very nice touch. Thanks for continuing work on this awesome addon!

    New features added:

An expand/collapse everything button appears at the top.
Groups of 1 no longer group. This should fix most problems of unrelated mods grouping.
The most recent profile loaded will appear green.

And a couple minor bugs like the DBM not showing when you expand it and its at the bottom of the list. Just be sure to scroll down.

A couple issues, like many people I'm seeing the grouping problem RecipeRadar, RecipeBook become a group even though they're not related. Thats not a big deal though.

More of a problem, DBM appears last on the list for some reason and when I expand it's group I can't scroll the list to see the fully expanded list. So I can't see the various components of DBM to check/uncheck them.

There also doesn't seem to be a way to hide TMA after setting up a profile (other than applying a profile). If you use /tma again it hides the profile list but leaves the addons list still visible on screen. Again this isn't a massive issue as I just load my current profile. But it's a little annoying when it takes 2 minutes for WoW to do a reloadui :(

The DBM issue is probably because DBM appears last on the list in the default Addons list. However, since every part of DBM is load on demand, meaning it only loads if you load it or zone into an instance that DBM has a module installed for, it shouldn't be too much of a problem if the devs don't fix it.

That's fine if it's always DBM that is the last on the list, but if it's Xperl, or something else that I do want to turn bits and pieces off then it is a concern.

And for the dev, TMA is a really handy little addon. Even with the couple minor issues its very nice. Keep up the good work.
