  • About Sunn - Viewport Art
  •

Sunn's Viewport Art allows you to change the size of the rendered world area (viewport) and adds textured artwork in the non-rendered areas.

v3.1 Update: This addon no longer uses the fubar / minimap icon. Settings are now available in the standard Interface>Addons menu.

Usage

Use /sunnart (or /sunn or /sa) for options

Keybindings

Bind a key in the wow options to show/hide the UI and SunnArt graphics

Art Packs

Art packs are optional and should be installed as if they were separate addons (although they are useless without the SunnArt addon).

Extract the zipped folder into your interface/addons folder for it to function.

Previews of the artwork in the packs are available in the screenshots on this page.

Art Packs are available on this site.

Custom Artwork

It's not difficult to create your own artwork if you have the right tools:

  • Resize your artwork to 1536*256 (1536x512 for wider panels)
  • Divide your artwork into 3 similar sized panels, left, centre and right, each with dimensions 128, 256 or 512 (these are the only dimensions that WoW will support).
  • Save each panel as (or convert them to) Targa (.tga) format and place then in the Interface/Addons/SunnArt folder with the names custom1.tga, custom2.tga and custom3.tga.
  • Select "Custom" from the themes menu in the options in-game.

eg. the left panel should be called custom1.tga, the center panel called custom2.tga and the right panel called custom3.tga.

To set an overlap (for artwork containing transparency) please see the CustomTheme.lua file.

To add addition custom themes, please see the CustomTheme.lua file.

CustomTheme.lua should be opened in any plain text editor such as notepad.

Submitting Artwork

If you have artwork that you would like to submit for Art Pack 10 and onward, please mail it to sunnart@uksf.com and if I like it then I will include it in the next release.

FAQ

Art Packs are not available?

Make sure the art packs are installed in your addons folder, NOT in the SunnArt folder

    Hello,
I was wandering whether there's a way to use different artwork for each of the panels (top, bottom, right, left)?
I know it's not in the addon interface, but perhaps there's a way to edit the lua files to make it happen? I'd try doing it myself, but I know nothing about programming.
Your help would be very appreciated.

I use the bottom artwork but no change in viewports. I set the bottom artwork's height to something like 27, but every time I log in a new session or reload the UI it resets to 20, and I don't want to have to reset the height every time I log in.

    Any idea what's wrong?

    I was wondering ...

I'm using only right and bottom panels (so my 'game window' gets shifted to the left abit).
Is there any way to configure Sunn, to shrink the bottom panel, when I make the right panel wider? (now it's the opposite - when I make bottom panel wider, the right panel shrinks up).
The idea behind this is fairly simple - if the bottom panel has some graphical elements centered - I want them to be still centered for the new location of the 'game window'.

  • Ever since the last patch this hasn't been working right for me at all. I lost all the artworks I was using on different chars but I still have the packs. I love this addon and I've been using it for a long time now. But I'd love to be able to use the artwork I was using. :(

Art Pack 6 won't do anything on it's own - you need to install Sunn Viewport Art too.

    Hi Sunn,

I sent you an email but maybe it got lost, so I figured Id try posting here. I am in the process of making an art pack for this addon. I got the .lua and .toc file to work correctly and they are loading just fine in-game.

I am just here asking if it would be alright if I upload them on curse for my friends and others to download.

Thanks for your time and the wonderful addon :D.

If it's your code and your own artwork, you do whatever you want with it.

  • I love this mod and have just started tinkering with the custom images. However since last update of curse client this mod always shows up tampered or broken. Am I reading the faq's correctly that my custom art is to be added directly into the sunnart folder?

It seems adding the additional lines in the customtheme.lua is causing the curse client to freak everytime. is thier a fix or am I installing my custom themes in the wrong place.

  • Quick question, I'm attempting to make my own art for this, and I created my image 1536x512. But I don't understand the next step fully... cut it into 3 512x512s? I'll try it just in case that's what you tell me anyway, but much help would be appreciated.

Been looking into the Overlap feature and been wondering if or how is it possible to use it in Addon art packs because it would be helpful to me and some of the authors if we can use this feature in there addon packs also.

The overlap feature has been there for quite a while. Look at Sunn Art Pack 6 lua, it's the same function.

Just got done looking into the custom art file info so far i have one Question/problem the custom art file only uses 3 tga files not 4 and alot of art i have found is setup to use 4 tga files is there a way to have sunn properly use the 4 files or am i just pipe dreaming.

My addon only uses 3 panels. Your only hope is to edit the file into one panel and chop it into 3.

Try paint.net if you don't have a tga editing application (http://getpaint.net)

  • Hey Sunn.

I posted this before but got no reply, so thought i'd try again...

My custom artwork has parts that are transparant, and so i want to be able to manually adjust where the edge of the viewport it...otherwise i get left with big black sections...I shall post a link to a screenshot of my UI so you can see my problem :)

    http://tinyurl.com/mw7hsv

The black areas above(and below the top artwork) are transparent, and work fine with CT_Viewport. However I would love to not have to have a seperate addon for this when your addon contains a viewport option.

    thanks for the help
