  • About Sunn - Viewport Art
  •

Sunn's Viewport Art allows you to change the size of the rendered world area (viewport) and adds textured artwork in the non-rendered areas.

v3.1 Update: This addon no longer uses the fubar / minimap icon. Settings are now available in the standard Interface>Addons menu.

Usage

Use /sunnart (or /sunn or /sa) for options

Keybindings

Bind a key in the wow options to show/hide the UI and SunnArt graphics

Art Packs

Art packs are optional and should be installed as if they were separate addons (although they are useless without the SunnArt addon).

Extract the zipped folder into your interface/addons folder for it to function.

Previews of the artwork in the packs are available in the screenshots on this page.

Art Packs are available on this site.

Custom Artwork

It's not difficult to create your own artwork if you have the right tools:

  • Resize your artwork to 1536*256 (1536x512 for wider panels)
  • Divide your artwork into 3 similar sized panels, left, centre and right, each with dimensions 128, 256 or 512 (these are the only dimensions that WoW will support).
  • Save each panel as (or convert them to) Targa (.tga) format and place then in the Interface/Addons/SunnArt folder with the names custom1.tga, custom2.tga and custom3.tga.
  • Select "Custom" from the themes menu in the options in-game.

eg. the left panel should be called custom1.tga, the center panel called custom2.tga and the right panel called custom3.tga.

To set an overlap (for artwork containing transparency) please see the CustomTheme.lua file.

To add addition custom themes, please see the CustomTheme.lua file.

CustomTheme.lua should be opened in any plain text editor such as notepad.

Submitting Artwork

If you have artwork that you would like to submit for Art Pack 10 and onward, please mail it to sunnart@uksf.com and if I like it then I will include it in the next release.

FAQ

Art Packs are not available?

Make sure the art packs are installed in your addons folder, NOT in the SunnArt folder

OK none of the art packs are showing up for use anymore. I'm updated on all of them they just wont show up as options in the drop down menu anymore. What can I do to fix that?

I have a little issue where I make my own background and the areas that I want to be transparent turn out white in game. I'm using photoshop CS3 and when I start a new canvas I make sure the background is transparent. Just wondering if you disabled transparency features for the new version because I can't seem to make it work anymore.

TGA format requires a transparency layer which Photoshop doesn't do automatically. The easiest way is to save it as a PSD or PNG and use a converter to convert it to TGA. Or you could do some research into the format and find out if there's a way to do it within photoshop. I don't use it so I don't know.

With only Sunn Viewport Art, Bug Grabber, Bug Sack and Addon Control Panel enabled, I'm getting the following error on player logout:

1x ...d_BattlefieldMinimap\Blizzard_BattlefieldMinimap.lua:103: attempt to index global 'BattlefieldMinimapOptions' (a nil value):

The error is only detectable by Bug Grabber and Bug Sack because it happens just as the player logs out or reloads their UI.

Also, if I go into the Advanced options in Sunnart and toggle the Show Battlefield Map option, I get a ton of different errors:

I think I have figured out how to reliably reproduce a related error at login:

    1. Login to a character with Sunnart enabled.
    2. Open the World map and change Zone Map in the top left corner to Never Show.
    3. Open Sunnart options and in Advanced, Frame Levels, turn on Show Battlefield Map.
    4. Logout and delete the Blizzard_BattlefieldMinimap.lua from your character's SavedVariables.
    5. Login again and the error occurs during loading.

And the errors are all listed in BugSack for the current session.

Yes, Sunnart does conflict with certain addons that manipulate the battlefield minimap. If anyone knows of an addon that will let me change the strata of the battlefield map then I will use that instead and take the function out of sunnart.

WOW 3.3, Ice Crown Citadel. If your a *gunner* in the Ice Crown air ship fight this mod bugs out. During combat your gun "ice blocks" and immediately auto kicks you out... immediately the bottom panel does not show the "basic" wow buttons when outside the gun, just all black/blank. Going back in the gun during the fight didnt bring up the UI. (Needless to say, we lost that time).

NOTE: The gun does work perfectly BEFORE the fight. Likely something with how wow auto-kicks you out of that "vechicle" UI.

When I disabled this mod, and did the fight again it didnt bug out the UI during combat (and we also won).

The artwork panels shouldn't affect your actionbars. What actionbar addon do you use?

I don't get this problem with Dominos.

I was curious to know if it was possible to use four panels instead of just three, with the 512px width format. My resolution is 1920x1080 and I'm actually downsizing my art to 1536 width only to have the addon blow up the art at a far lower quality to fill the screen (like stretching the image to make it fit).

If it was possible to use four panels and resize to 2040x256, for instance, it would help out these high res users that like crisp artwork. If not, eh. /shrug

You could resize each of your 3 artwork panels to 1024 width (and also the height to 512 if you wish). That's alot less complicated than modifying the lua and should give you more than enough resolution.
