SimpleLFG - The way LFG should be.

SimpleLFG fixes everything I can't stand about the default LFG, and adds a few extra goodies. SimpleLFG came about after several days of frustration where I was sick of constantly re-clicking my LFG settings. I would set them, get invited to a group that disbanded immediately, and then have to re-click everything. The final straw came after forgetting to set them, and then several hours realizing I just wasted the last two hours not being queued.

I looked at all the other LFG mods out there - they are either too bulky, too archaic, or too complicated. SimpleLFG is intended to be fast, helpful, and intuitive to the point you don't notice it.

            • Features:
  • All LFG settings are automatically saved every time the LFG window is closed.
  • One-Click joining of LFG! Click on the default LFG button.
  • Right-clicking will bring up the original interface and allow you to change the saved instances.
  • The LFG button will animate if you are in LFG. No more thinking you are queued when you aren't!
  • Mouse-ing over the LFG button will show you what you are queued for. No more time wasted checking what you joined!
  • Sometimes, joining the queue would not put me in the LookingForGroup channel. EVen worse, sometimes the channel would be 'hidden' in the chat window options even though I definitely did not set it to hidden. SimpleLFG hopefully corrects these bugs.
  • A sound alert notifies you if you have successfully joined a queue.

With patch 3.3, SimpleLFG is no longer needed.

I've noticed the damage/tank/heal LFG setting added recently (wow 3.2?) is not preserved by simple LFG.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
    1. Use simple LFG to join some queues
    2. Change the damage/tank/heal checkboxes from their default setting of "everything on"
    3. Left click simpleLFG to leave all queues then again to rejoin
    4. Check "Looking for More"/Individuals on any queue you've joined and notice the damage/tank/heal checkboxes have reverted to their default state and are advertising the wrong services for your toon.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Please save and restore the checkbox settings, as that's pretty crucial to advertising on LFG.

What version of the product are you using?
    3.1

On a related note, it would also be very nice if simpleLFG saved and restored the LFG comment (since ppl usually use that to describe their qualifications)

I like the idea of simpleLFG but I find it very annoying that it overrides the default left-click behavior of the LFG button just to make it a right-click. I think this would be a less confusing addon if it left left-click on the LFG icon alone, and used right-click for the special simpleLFG behavior.

I flip-floped on that exact decision for a long time. i tested out both ways, and ultimately decided that joining/leaving the queue was something i did a lot, whereas changing the lists of instances i want to queue for was something I did very rarely - usually only when the Raid Schedule changed, I got my drop i wanted in that instance, or switched guilds. Thus, the primary button, the left click, should be used for the activity done the most.

I agree with jeskeca - changing the behavior of the left click in the default UI violates your stated goal of being "intuitive to the point you don't notice it". Users accustomed to a left click to open the window should not need to re-train themselves in order to use an "intuitive" addon.

How about making left click vs right click a user-configurable decision?

When resuming lfg it always sets me as a tank although I only want to dps, anyone else having this issue? Deleted .lua files and reinstalled with no resolution.

This is not working for me either. I'm not getting any errors and I can open the lfg window, but it's simply not doing anything when enabled.

This appears to be broken by 3.10 (not surprising). Error message appears when you close the new LFG window.

Using this along with LFGVoyeur has some conflicts. LFGVoyeur allows the player to queue for an instance instance via its own UI, as well as update the LFG note. But any changes made will not be detected by this addon, so the next time I want to queue up, it will restore only the instances and note that it saw from the real LFG window, which was outdated. Any chance you could get the updated list of instances and note when toggling LFG on/off?

On my UI i have a separated chat window for the LFG channel. Now since i installed this addon every time i'm using the LFG tool to find a group it turns on the LFG channel on the default chat window either. Is there any way to disable this or tell the mod some way to turn on the channel only in chat window number 2 or 3 or something?

Unless you changed your keybindings or this mod does, you can always press 'i' to bring up the LFG pane.
