simpleMinimap is a module-centric addon for modifying and personalizing one of the center-pieces of any UI - the minimap. the core simpleMinimap mod has these features... 

* left-click and drag the minimap anywhere
* hide and move the default minimap buttons
* zoom in and out with the mousewheel
* adjust the minimap's scale, outdoor alpha and strata
* bind a key to toggle the minimap and/or zoom it full-screen
* type '/smm' for a list of commands

simpleMinimap also comes with several modules. these modules can be disabled and/or the files can be deleted if you don't need or want access to the features. they are located in the simpleMinimap/modules folder... 

* Autozoom - automatically zoom-out minimap after delay
* Compass - NSEW markings on the minimap
* Coords - small frame that shows map coordinates
* GUI - dropdown setup menus (default is right-click on minimap)
* Movers - allows movement of UI frames attached to the minimap
* Pings - popup frame that shows the minimap pinger's name
* Skins - allows for changing the minimap's skin (square, corner)

    heah love this addon, but i can't seem to get the minimap to lock in the position i'm moving it to. can someone help me with this. i have to move it to the new location each time i log back into wow, and i would like to be able to get it to stay where i put it. thanks.

    Hi i just downloaded this addon. But it wont work. Atleast as i want it to work. I want to square the minimap and move it.
    I typed /smm skins skin 2
    And when I typ /smm skins skin. It says that square is on, but nothing happens.
    And when I restarting the game. The minimap is the same shape as it was before (the round shaped minimap in the right topcorner)
    Could need some help.

    If you follow the WowAce.com link, you'll find that there is a newer version uploaded by another author. Pretty much everything works fine with version r161

    Does anyone know of an addon that will go along with this to move the quest tracker? It appears to be attached to the minimap so when I use simpleminimap to move it to the bottom of my screen, the quest tracker is no longer viewable. Thanks!

    This mod was working fine for me up untill patch 3.3 now some of the mini map icons that should be turned off like voice chat main map and the zoom in and out buttens are there and i cant remove them.
    Will this mod be updated?

    Simpleminimap r161 is out, check http://www.wowace.com/addons/simple-minimap/files/477-r161/

    - Added a show/hide toggle for the dungeon difficulty indicator.
    - Updated support for the 3.3 LFG Icon.

    Restating this, people should make sure they are using either r160 or r161, not the old v30000-5 (from 3.0 in January) as it does not work with the newest patch. To get the newer versions you can't get them from Curse Gaming, you must go to http://www.wowace.com/addons/simple-minimap/ then select one of the alpha versions for 3.3.0 (e.g. A: r161) and then click download on the subsequent page.

    unfortunately r160 from WoWace features an unmovable dungeon finder button (sort of). see my ticket on http://www.wowace.com/addons/simple-minimap/ for more details.

    IF YOU CAN'T GET THE MENU:

    -ensure that you have r160 (or higher) installed from http://www.wowace.com/addons/simple-minimap/ (no menu is a known issue from patch 3.3 with any version under r160)

    -ensure that it's NOT on standby. type /simpleminimap to show the status and to toggle it on/off type '/simpleminimap standby'

    okay perhaps I'm doing something wrong - I downloaded the update from wowace, when I log in I can't do anything with it - I try to right click my current map to pull up the menu (which is what I've done in the past) and nothing happens - I also can't seem to get any sort of menu to pull up for it at all - if someone could give me some direction so I could get this mod (that I love) working again I would really appreciate it!

    Boazjuggalo you're using an old version.

    You need to go to http://www.wowace.com/addons/simple-minimap/

    On that page you need to click r160 (not the big Download link), then download that file. What you have downloaded is the last official release by the addon author which was in January this year.

    That's where I prefer to get all my addons, as they are automatically group updated, and since I am a loooong time user of simpleMinimap, it would be greatly appreciated.

    I don't want this addon to die! :(

    Take a look at the image. The "Before" is what SMM looked like for me before 3.3 hit. The "After" is with your release. How can I get rid of the background square that's visible in the lower left as well as the N/E/S/W compass points?
