  • About RABuffs
  •

RABuffs makes buffing and raid status monitoring easy by displaying information that you are interested in in a compact window. Each watched aspect is represented with a status bar, capable of displaying three different segments - typically divided into buffed, fading soon and expired buffs.

RABuffs helps you buff. Clicking on a bar out of combat automatically picks the right rank of a spell (including group- and class-wide buffs) and casts it on needy group member(s), greatly simplifying the process of buffing the groups assigned to you. Segments of status bars also begin to flash as the buff you're watching is about to expire, warning you in advance of a needed rebuff.

RABuffs is customizable. You may also narrow down the group of people a status bar checks - anything from "everyone" to "groups 1-3" to "shamans, druids and warlocks" to "shamans in groups 1-3 and Alice but not Bob" is possible using the easy-to-use Layout configuration interface. You can even create custom queries to watch for buffs and debuffs not included by default.

RABuffs does more than track buffs. Queries are not limited to simply checking for buffs - you can also monitor the raid's health and mana, PvP tags, location, cooldowns on various spells, point out who isn't wearing their Onyxia Scale Cloak on a Nefarian raid, intelligently and automatically pick resurrection targets, and much, much more.

Use /rab to show/hide the RABuffs window while out of combat and /rab config to display the configuration dialog.

Advanced Features

  • Holding down SHIFT while hovering over a bar inverts the information displayed in the tooltip; holding down ALT forces RABuffs to use a different kind of spell to buff (single vs group/class versions).
  • Clicking the Alive bar out of combat will attempt to res a nearby dead group member (if they have not released).
  • RABuffs generates text output for its queries. You can CTRL+Click on a bar to send a message to a customizable chat channel notifying people of the information the bar is displaying to you.
  • You can view the results of queries not present in your RABuffs window by using the /rq slash command (typing /rq brings up short help for the command). It can also be used to send the query result message to a chat channel of your choice.
  • RABuffs transforms queries typed in [square brackets] in chat to query links, allowing you to easily share assignments with your group. If you send a message containing [motw 123], RABuffs will transform it into a clickable link that'll let people add a Mark of the Wild status bar monitoring groups 1-3 to their RABuffs window.
  • RABuffs shares spell cooldown data with your group. You may also use RALight to share the same information. RALight requires no configuration and uses little resources, making it ideal for group members who want to share their spell cooldowns but do not wish to run RABuffs.
  • You can customize the appearance of the RABuffs interface using libSharedMedia (typically bundled with other addons; see also SharedMedia for additional textures). It is generally worthwhile checking RABuffs configuration to adjust the settings to match your preferences.
  • You may choose to display a different set of bars when in combat (or select a shorter list of queries when you don't need to see everything you would in the "full" view) using the "Show" dropdown in the edit bar dialog.

This addon was simple, easy to use, yet completely configurable. I really would like to see this addon updated to work with the patch. Please!
What are people using as a work-around?

Would really like to see an update for this also. Not sure what mod to use to replace this functionality.

Also, if it does get updated, one small request would be a way to get rid of the RABuffs title bar. Either way, I would really like to continue using this mod.

My favourite addon. What a hassle without it, I now have to think about what I'm doing, and I'm still trying to find where I put all the spells on my desktop!

    Please update!

Was wondering if there will be an update for 3.0. I like the idea of keeping track of who has their buffs in a small compact window :)

i must be blind... or is fel armor still not available in latest version of rabuffs?

  • I can confirm the 2 posts below this one. Entering combat will sometime bring RAbuffs back up. Also, it has difficulties keeping track of who you have already resurrected, as mishikal mentions.

  • Confirmed bug from 1.1.0 onwards - the "Show in xyz" settings are being ignored. Going to fix that in the next version.

I have to manually show RABuffs whenever I enter a party or raid. Same for leaving a party or raid, I have to manually hide it. I have RABuffs configured to be hidden while solo, and to be shown while in a party/raid.

  • It should tell you that they miss it (intended), but it shouldn't offer you to cast it on anyone but yourself (would be a bug if it did).

You can't directly specify that you only want to check yourself at the moment - selecting no groups is interpreted as selecting all groups. You may be able to fix this for most situations by just selecting group 8 (which would generally not exist outside battlegrounds), and adding yourself to the include list (target yourself, hit the + button in the bar detail dialog). This would display omen of clarity on you plus any druids in group 8 - there shouldn't be any, hopefully. I'll see what I can do about allowing some way to specify that you only want to check a buff on yourself.

Wasn't sure if this was a bug or intended, but when I'm grouped with other druids, at least some of the time RABuffs tells me they need the "Omen of Clarity" buff, which I can't cast on them since it's a self-only buff. Would it be possible to add some sort of option for the druid Omen of Clarity spell to only check self-status? I've tried de-selecting all groups but that option doesn't seem to save :(

    Thanks!

  • Part of 1.1.3; going live when I make sure that the code that does the inversion works correctly in all situations.

    Love the addon :)

Was curious if it might be possible to have an option to invert how the bars are colored; Meaning, I'd prefer if the bars were *not* colored if all buffs were applied, etc, then have the bars flash a color when expiration was near and become perma-colored based on the number of people without the buff instead of with. I think it'd be easier at a glance to see things ("Hey, it has color - I need to act!") for me, but wouldn't want to force it on people who love the current setup.

Either way, the mod is faboo and makes life a lot easier for me :) Thanks!
