Description

myFriends is a World of Warcraft AddOn. It enhances the friends list display with less buttons and more friends displayed. The friends, ignores and mutes can be organized in groups. The friends list, ignore list and mute lists are shared by all the characters on a same realm. Friends can be added by the right-click menu on a character portrait or name.

Install

Extract the files into your ..\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns directory.

Features

  • Enhanced friends list display
  • Friends, ignores and mutes groups
  • Shared friends, ignores and mutes lists
  • Localization (english, french, german)
  • Low memory usage (~0.1MB)
  • myAddOns support

Usage

The enhanced friends, ignores and mutes lists replace the original one. You can access them as you did before. The friends, ignores and mutes of a character are automatically added to the shared lists the first time you log in with this character. Then the list is updated every time you add/remove a friend, ignore or mute. Your friends, ignores and mutes are shared by all your characters of a same faction on a same realm. Right-click on a friend, ignore or mute and choose "Change Group" to put him in the group you want. You can also drag and drop him in a group.

You can't ignore or mute a player if he's offline. So you might get a few "Player not found" messages when myFriends is trying to synchronise your current character's ignores and mutes lists with the shared one. This is not an error and myFriends will retry to add the ignore/mute at next login.

  • Interact with hundreds of thousands of other gamers on an open social network.
  • Post your stories, news, images, videos, and other content to share.
  • Create a network with your fellow gamers or join an existing one.
  • Gain reputation for everything you do.
  • Was having problems with myFriends deleteing newly added friends after a log out and in. Found the problem, got a fix.

You've hardcoded maximum number of friends as 50, Blizzard upped it to 100 some time ago.

Line 177: "GetNumFriends() < 50" is the offending check.

You might want to confirm the new maximum number of friends, but it's definately over 50.

Some of my friends are being removed from the list every time I log on, even though I manually add them again every time. Please make it so that when manually adding someone to the friends list, it forces them to be "on" the list, instead of thinking you still don't want them, just because they aren't on the list of all the characters yet.

This addon is useful and low memory use, thanks a lot! I'm a player in taiwan, and I translate the Localization.lua for use in zhTW. I upload this file at http://rapidshare.com/files/225642182/Localization.lua.html

This addon looks promising. However, I would like the option to show player's locations instead of their level/class. Perhaps a toggle on the window itself.

That's an option I'm considering. Depends on how it integrates in the UI and when I'll have time to do it lol ^o^

  • You could just do a quick /who and that shows their location... it's a non-issue.

I've been looking for a friends addon that would give me the ability to associate a main with the various alts owned by the same player. Although this mod doesn't do that, it's pretty close, in that it already does hierarchical display, so here's a feature request. :)

I am currently looking for an add-on to handle my friends list. If you're familiar with Trillian, what I want is something like Trillian's meta contacts - that is, the "container" has the name of the currently used alt.

For example, in my friends list, I might have

    + CharB (Note)

if I expand that out (the + sign rollup) you'd see

    - CharB (Note)
    - CharA
    - CharB
    - CharC
    - CharD

The idea is to be able to associate all characters that belong to a particular person, so looking at your friends list you'd see that I'm logged in as CharB and you know who I am as it shows you that you know CharB as whatever I put in the note field for this group - for example, I might put the person's Main in as the note for this group. The Character that's currently active would be the name displayed as the grouped title.

forgot to mention - I ran across something that appears to do exactly what I'm talking about, but it hasn't been updated in two years. http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7314-BetterFriends.html#info

Perhaps the code could be lifted? :)

Just found your mod a couple of days ago. Works Great! I finally have my list organized =) Would it be possible to add a filter to only show friends that are currently logged in? That would be really helpful when trying to make groups to see just the people actually on at the time.

I finaly updated myFriends. Sorry for taking so long, I have been very busy. To avoid future issues, I am back to the original way to add friends: open the friends panel and use the Add Friend button. I also added the notes icon for each friend (mouse over the friend if he has no notes already). Click on it to add/edit a note.

  • So if I add a friend by typing /friend [name] is that still working with your mod? I am having an issue where it seems that it is not always syncing my friends lists with my alts, but I haven't narrowed it down yet.
