  • About MTLove 2
  •

This addon adds a "target of mouseover" function to the wow-client (the "mouseover" is the unit who is under your mouse-cursor).
The main advantage compared to Blizzard's built-in function is that you don't need to switch your target to get this information which is much faster, especially in combat and you can still cast spells on your target.
It was originally made to help tanks (therefore the name MTLove -> Main-Tanks-Love) but it may is also useful for any other class.
It provides a frame attached to your mouse and/or a additional tooltip next to the default one.

  • Gain reputation for everything you do.
  • I still need someone to confirm that oRA2 and/or CT_RaidAssist support is functional at all.
Please also report any other bugs and/or spelling/grammar mistakes!

The verification would be something like:
    * install both MTlove2 2.3.0 and oRA2 or CT_RaidAssist
    * enable "experimental oRA2 or CT_RaidAssist support" on the about page of MTLove's configuration
    * join a raid using one of both raid assistant tools
    * make the raid leader set one or more maintanks in those assistant tools, but not using blizzards default raid UI
    * either
A - wait for a fight and verify that these maintanks are shown in white letters when you mouseover a mob targeting them
B - enable party member players as units for both the mouseover and mouseovertarget and the "out of combat" option in MTLove's configuration and get someone in the raid to target the maintank, mouseover them and see if they show up in white
    * report what you found here or via email (address is displayed in your chat window when the addon is loaded, and on the about-page in MTLove's configuration)
    * be proud of your work and receive positive feedback ;-)

    Thank you!

Before you go I would like to thank you personally for your addon it is one of those pinacle addons that makes tanking easier on mult mob pulls. Thank you so very much mate.

Also as such a respected member of the WoW community I urgh you to post your reasons for leaving to the CM's on the WoW forums so maybe just maybe those changes you need might happen.

You are of course spot on with all the comments.

The slowness of determining who is, and who is not a tank can perhaps be done once, when a player has moved into combat, and not all the time during the combat. While of course a druid can change form during a combat, if he starts combat as a tank, it is probable that he is meant to be tanking for a while :)

Not being dependant on any 3rd party mod is good too.

Perhaps we could avoid all this by allowing the user to specify who is, and who is not a tank in the gui?

Anyways, it is currently very functional as it is. I get a good clue which mob I should be targetting next in a pull, which was the reason for the request in the first place. So thanks :)

I just had the same idea some days, and this is a feature on my list, but it is not as easy as you may think.

My first problem with it is, that I don't want to create any dependency on ANY other addon. And I don't use those "raid"-addons, because I think there just bogous and don't provide useful information you really need for doing my job. I could use the functions from Blizzards raid-Ui, but nobody uses it, because "any raid need crapy-raid-addon-X"....

The second one is that the pooling for the druid bear-icon is extremely slow and the result will always be just a guess, as its the API is not very accurate while doing that... (think about that mtlove does all its functions once for any frame that is "drawn" by the wow engine, and enabling the normal counters let you loose 1/3 FPS on a just 2 year old "high-performance"-PC [and *nothing* on my recent one =)] so image what it will cost to check lets say 5 Druids (in a 40-player-raid) more than 40 times a second with a really slow function which result may is false in 2 out of 10 times checking a list off buff-icons which may is larger than recognizable by your client...)

The last on: its not designed to classify players on there job, its just there armor, because thats the only thing thats absolutely sure...

anyway thats "on the list" and may gets into one of the next Beta-versions...

OK, tried using this beta class counter upgrade down kharazan last night.

The individual counters of different class types were certainly useful. It was really nice to know that some class was targetting the wrong mobs too :)

This is certainly an upgrade to MTLove and I'm very grateful for you having added it.

The only enhancement that I could think of in addition to the counts of the different classes would be quite a bit more work and would tell me the actual number of 'real tanks' targetting the mob.

You currently define a tank as a warrior or paladin class. i.e. a plate-wearer. I'd like something a little more accurate.  :)

By 'real tank' I mean the following:

If I'm in a raid and the oRA2 or CTRA main tank lists are defined and populated then treat any warrior, paladin, or druid in bear form on those lists as a tank.

If the lists are not available in a raid, or I'm just in a party, then just treat any warrior or druid in bear form as a tank. Optionally a paladin :) :)

A druid in bear form can easily be found by looking for the following buff texture on a target:

     Interface\Icons\Ability_Racial_BearForm

The oRA2 main tank list can be found from:

     oRAPMainTank.core.maintanktable

There is probably something very similar for CTRA.

    Thanks! :) :)

    check the beta-tab for a new BETA-Version:

It includes a "simple" counter for "checking the raid targets before shouting GO!"

Its not a list with names, but I think its not a good idea to "spam" your screen with names in a adequate size for reading. And as I am very lazy while playing its not bound to a key, because I dont want to control even more buttons...

    Hope you like it.

The new version with this feature will be released within the next week. Its ready implemented, but needs some testing, mostly this kind of features brake my check-routine, which was never designed for.
