Moncaí's Quest Tracker

I have been developing my modified quest tracker over the past few years. Each time Blizzard updated it's tracker, I updated mine with it. Coded from the ground up again for patch 3.3, I'm releasing it here so others may benefit.

New release!

Beta v0.1.2 has been released. Screenshots will be updated when I get the chance!

Current features

  • Tracker shows levels and colors but still stays true to the original by Blizzard
  • Includes all the questing goodies Blizzard has put into the 3.3 update
  • If you quest with someone else who has this tracker, you can track their progress
  • Works with QuestHelper 1.x.y, reflecting the order in which to do the quests (version 1.3.8 tested)
  • Shift-click a header in the Questlog to toggle the watches for all quests under that header
  • Access the new configuration screen by typing /mqt in the chat window
  • A few features I have missed

QuestHelper integration

For a successfull integration with QuestHelper, please mind the following things:

  • Please use version 1.3.7 or higher of QuestHelper
  • Make sure it's enabled in the configuration screen (type /mqt to access it)
  • Disable the built-in tracker of QuestHelper, either via it's configuration menu or via the slash command "/qh track" (without the quotes)

Upcoming features

  • Even more options!

Beta, what does that mean?

Oh yes, there will be bugs! Currently working towards a release. If you like, please give it a try, and help me make the addon better!

Feedback

Your feedback is important! Please submit bugreports, localizations in your language and suggestions. Have a problem? Tell me! Like my addon? Tell others :D

Where to post what

  • Bug reports, suggestions for new features and improvements: Preferably create a ticket on curse forge
  • Comments, questions, praise: Feel free to post right here :D

  • I can't move the tracker at all and it's stuck in an unusable location. I filed a ticket and I hope you will fix this soon.

  • To anyone else hoping this tracker could be moved, plz let Moncai know as he's said he might add that if enough ppl want it.

I'd like to be able to move and resize the tracker. I know I've already added my comment on the bug report but figured I'd add it here as well, hopefully to encourage others to add their requests as well.

Thanks for the new version, all seems to be working fine, although I can't seem to find any way to either move or resize the objectives frame. Am I missing something somewhere? In the absence of a working MQT I've been using CT Mods objectives settings that allowed me to resize, move and lock the objectives frame.

Seems I spoke too soon, getting an error now, so I've opened a tickect detailing the error.

The new version is up or will be momentarily. Thank you for your patience!

@Artkarate: The new version wasn't up yet when you posted. As I stated it needed a rewrite. Therefore your (long) posts were obsolete and thus deleted. And in the future: Please use the ticket system for long error posts. Thank you!

after a short dig through code i found that WATCHFRAMELINES_XOFFSET only apears once

    maxFrameWidth = self:GetWidth() - WATCHFRAMELINES_XOFFSET;

with no declaration or initialazation (eerrr im a noob coder so i hope that is the right termanology), after adding

    local WATCHFRAMELINES_XOFFSET = 0;

im now told the same error but with WATCHFRAME_QUESTTIMER_HEIGHT

wish me luck finding all occurences

You got these errors because the old version was written for 3.2 and was not compatible with 3.3 since Blizzard changed their tracker code a lot *again*. The missing variables were global variables Blizzard had defined in 3.2 but are gone now. You can stop trying to fix the old version and enjoy the new one instead :).

MQt is currently in internal testing. It will once again sit nicely between the standard tracker and Questhelper, bringing you the merits of both. Parts were rewritten from te ground up to blend with the new features introduced by Blizzard in 3.3.

Patch 3.3 will introduce some of the functionality my addon provides. My addon will have to be rebuilt around these changes. I therefore cannot guarantee that it will be ready when the patch goes live.

A big thanks to the fans who like this addon! And please be patient with me :)

Well, I am interested in using your add-on however.. I have 5 or so quests selected for tracking, and they dont appear to show up anywhere on my interface aside from my quest log :)

Any idea at where they might be?

No idea. What other addons do you use that interact with questing?

v0.1.1 just released. New option: You can now set a fixed width for the tracker when in simple mode! (Simple mode is enabled/disabled from Interface->Game->Objectives->Advanced Objectives Tracking)

I don't know much about how this AddOn stuff works, so please forgive me if my questions seem obvious to you.
I do know that I have several AddOns installed that provide alternate quest trackers. QuestGuru, MobMap, QuestHelper, and more. I can enable or disable any of them as I see fit; I can display more than one, even several, of them at a time. So, my question is: does your quest tracker have to override, replace, or conflict in any way with QuestGuru? Can it not be simply another alternate tracker added to the rest?

I do like QuestGuru's tracker, but my Friday and Saturday night groups are looking for something to replace the functionality of another AddOn we used to use until it broke with a WoW patch or expansion. I don't remember the name of it, but it would show party quest progress in the quest tracker. We have since then been using things like QuestAgent with which we can open up a quest log window showing party members' progress, but the tracker display was much more convenient.

    Thank you.
