You do realize that your "disclaimer" (which isn't a disclaimer at all) is entirely invalid or at least useless since you are distributing under the GPL? I wouldn't have mentioned if you hadn't acted like a total *** by posting that.

  • I am sorry if I upset you by posting this and I am not sure if you followed the case, but this is in place primarily in response to recent cases of the addon distribution program, WoWmatrix, hotlinking into Curse.com's file system and, thus, putting a great load on Curse's servers.

WoWmatrix was denied access around a week ago, and thus I expanded the legal notice in response to WoWmatrix hosting addons locally on their servers.

I hope you understand the Authors' wish to prevent WoWmatrix from distributing their addons, since that prevents Curse.com from recieving ad revenue which pays for the systems we (the authors) use for updating the addons you (the user) download - for example the version control system, Subversion.

You are correct, though, that it is not legally clear whether this notice actually affects the GPL I posted the addon under. I will review this and, if needed, make adjustments.

Thanks a lot for your honest input.

    regards,
    stolenlegacy

@asonethu is entirely correct. If you GPL'ed your addon, you've pretty much given up control as to who can download/host your addon. From the GPL.txt:

"Activities other than copying, distribution and modification are not
covered by this License; they are outside its scope."

    And further:

"1. You may copy and distribute verbatim copies of the Program's
source code as you receive it, in any medium, provided that you
conspicuously and appropriately publish on each copy an appropriate
copyright notice and disclaimer of warranty; keep intact all the
    notices that refer to this License and to the absence of any warranty;
and give any other recipients of the Program a copy of this License
    along with the Program.

You may charge a fee for the physical act of transferring a copy, and
you may at your option offer warranty protection in exchange for a fee."

So, wowmatrix, love 'em or hate 'em, are abiding well within the rights you've given them by GPL'ing your addon. = /

r28 decided to spam saying everyone's debuff dropped when we killed malygos.

  • Thanks a lot for your comment, I had forgot to re-enable the health check after disabling it to test on the "Aces high!" drakes.
Re-enabled it in r29, download that one!

I got the r14 version now I when I type /mflamer there's still no option in the "msg" function to broadcast in officer.

I tried /mflamer msg officer and nothing happen :(

  • It actually DID work, since you didn't get the "You have either specified no or an incorrect setting." spam.
What I did forget to add was
    a) the notification that "Fails are now broadcasted to your guild's officers"
    b) the entry in the description "Set the Channel to which the Fails should be broadcasted. RAID = Raid, GROUP = Party, GUILD = Guild, OFFICER = Officer, SELF = Local"

Both are fixed in r15. Thanks a lot for the report, I had completely overlooked that.
