  • About Make Guns Sound Like Bows
  •

Some hunters find the gun sounds loud and distracting, this mod replaces the gun sounds with the bow sounds. It only affects how the shooter hears things. There are no lua or XML files, only the audio files (from the original game) which get extracted to different filenames to override the other sounds.

I like the softer bow sounds, but I'm considering making an alternative mod with the gun sounds modified to be much more quiet. If you're interested in this instead, post a comment.

    You're now my new bestest friend. I've hated the distracting gun noise for 3 years. <3!

    I am thrilled about this mod!! But so far it won't work for me...I'm on the euroservers and put it in \Program Files\World of Warcraft\data\enGB. Will it not work for these servers? Help!

    It seems there are several people having problems with this addon not working. That's a shame too because for the gun users the sound change would be great. Any chance you will be fixing this?

    Very good modification. Makes the gunfire into peaceful bowfire > now i can play Wow all night long and not make soo much noise. Just put the sound folder under the "Data" folder alongside the "enUS" folder. So it should be at the same level as the "enUS" folder but as its own folder called "sound" as when you extracted it.

    Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\Sound

    hope this helps clear things up. this file must be added here in order to work.
    This "Sound" folder is the one you get after unzipping the file. Just copy and paste it alongside the enUS folder as a stand alone folder.

  • Hi, I know you can change the in game sound by adding wav files in Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\Sound, but i would like to have a list with all possible names so i can change other sounds as well. Would appreciate it! :D

    Is there any way you can make a mod to replace the annoying screeching sound of the bats/owls/carrion birds please? I want to use an owl but I cant stand the constant screeching!!! lol

    thanks =)

    I know this is going to sound odd, but can you make a sound to make the BOW sound like a GUN (or make the bow sound really loud)? I've used the arcanite pistol for months, and the loud sound of my autoshot makes it easier to adjust my shot rotation. Now that I'm back to a bow, the bow is so quiet i have to use visual cues or watch SCD to see when the autoshot goes. I miss the audible cue....

    Thank you very much for this mod! I avoided guns due to the fact they gave me a pounding headache after more than twenty minutes of use. This is great! Good job fixing something a multi-million dollar company hasn't had the foresight to do as of this post!

  • I would LOVE to have my gun sound like a silencer is being used!

    Is it as simple as placing a sound file with the proper name in the proper folder?

    Yes.
