  • About Are You Lookin' At Me?
  •

This is a trivial and small addon which adds a line to the mouseover tooltip for any player or NPC telling you the name of their target. It's most useful if you want to see if that guy standing next to you is inspecting you with having to target him first so that he doesn't know that you know he's checking you out :D

Hey, turns out (thanks to Wmambalamb) that there IS a use for this beyond vanity -- tanks can use it to quickly ensure that mobs are one the right target so they can decide whether to take action without having to lose their current target! Thanks Wmambalamb for making me feel less ashamed for writing this :D

  • Mundicani, I beg you, PLEASE update this to WoW 3.0.2
Im seriously missing this addon, Everytime I hover on someone/something I check the tooltip and its all empty

I hope you can do me this little favour, the code is small so it shouldnt be too hard to fix( wtb LUA scripting )

    Thanks in advance:P

  • Sorry about that -- I've been so wrapped up in Group Calendar and Outfitter that I forgot to update this. It's up now as 1.0.1 with no changes other than WotLK compatibility.

  • Hehe, you're right that focus can work. Here's a simple macro which will inspect your mouseover target:

    /focus [target=mouseover]
    /script InspectUnit("focus")

Lurkers of the world unite! (But don't tell anyone)

Now I'll have to add a feature to Lookin' At Me which shows the mouseover's focus target as well just to escalate this arms race (or is it an eyes race? hmm.)

Well you could try changing the "mouseover" to a specific name or you could try to save the name to focus (correct me if wrong, LUA and scripting in WoW isn't one of my strenghts). Go experiment and tell us how it went :P

  • You got me all excited by the "/script InspectUnit("mouseover")" thing, but it goes away once I move my mouse off :'(

  • It's most useful if you want to see if that guy standing next to you is inspecting you with having to target him first so that he doesn't know that you know he's checking you out :D

Rofl, now we just need some addon that allows you to inspect another player using the chat window without targetting him/her (like on right-click at party members) :>

Ohhh, you can do that by hovering over a player and then type:
    /script InspectUnit("mouseover")

    In your chat window :D

  • Cool, and um, yeah, that's why I wrote it -- for a useful thing like seeing who has aggro from a mob, not just to know if that guy who stopped next to me is sniffing my butt. Yeah, that's it :)

  • This actually IS useful...im a tankadin and when i tank for example Illhoof in kara, i want to see who got aggro from Kil'Rek, without deselecting my main target Illhoof, with this i can just mouseover kil'rek and keep attacking illhoof
also i was looking for this kind of addon for some time now, finally found it, cheers for it!

  • Yes, this is a silly addon purely for vanity, it has no real usefulness beyond that. It's extremely lightweight though, so you're not going to be giving up any noticeable memory or performance for using it.

    Accatly kinda useless , right ? =P
