IRP - Continued

Since the patch, whenever I open the IRP frame I get an error. Trying to submit a ticket on CurseForge as to not clutter up comments.

Thanks for the update.
A small remark: Could you please repack the addon, because I heard some times people installed it as "it is" in the /addon folder. But that doesn't work, due to the folder /IRP/ImmersionRP.
I think it would be a bit clearer, if the "IRP" folder is replaced, so in the package you only find directly when you unpack it: ImmersionRP and ImmersionRPSocial.

Yes, please. This is highly annoying to have to extract from the zip then pull the folders out of the IRP folder. I usually do mass updates and sometimes forget that IRP is the exception to the rule and don't get the update.

Really LOVE this addon though. Far superior to FRSP and MRP.

It's wonderful to see someone keeping this addon alive.

I have translated most texts in /ImmersionRP and /ImmersionRPSocial folders to German, here are the changed files: http://www.stifthelden.com/ImmersionRP-German.zip
Please install ImmersionRP normally and then copy the 4 files above in the "yourwow"/interface/Addons/ folder.

EDIT: Translation should be finished (also help texts). The files above are updated. I know I have color hardcoded the IRP_STRING_DELTA"XYZ"_TOOLTIP but I think it's easier to read and guess then which level another player has when activated "Show relative levels".
Unfortunately umlauts (äöü and so on) can't be displayed with using the [[blabla]]; brackets, so the two strings IRP_STRING_SOCIAL_ALTERNATEINFONOTE and IRP_STRING_EXTENDEDHELP also use the "blabla"; ones. Unfortunately the editing of the .lua isn't that comfortable, but you can use umlauts. Hope this slight adjustments are allowed.

My RP-guild really likes IRP. Thanks very much.

Hey, thanks for continuing ImmersionRP! I just searched for alternatives for flagRSP2 and tested flagRSP BC, MyRolePlay and ImmersionRP and I must say that IRP is, in my opinion, the best of all four.
But I've got a little question. flagRSP2 was supported by FuBar, and I'm kinda missing it as my minimap is just overloaded with buttons. If there is the possibility to place IRP in FuBar, I wasn't able to find it. If there isn't one - I'd be grateful if you or someone else could handle that. It defenitely would be a nice addition, and you could place something like a shift + left-click function for the RP mode button to the FuBar element.

EDIT: I just wanted to copy my character's description from flagRSP2 to IRP manually, but I quickly saw that there are too few letters allowed. Yeah, I know, a character description should be short and stuff, but I typically begin with a note that the information in the flag get more and more specifically and that the first lines fit for the most RP occasions (so that only those who want to read on after these lines)...and as I can't remember all the stuff with the background story and so on exactly, I write it down at the end of the flag (and I'd do so with IRP, too, if there would be enough space...). Sure, I could simply write notes about the background story to remember it. But if I'm thinking of a background story, it's, in fact, a short story (!= notes)...and if I write a story, I want other people to be able to read it. So, long story short: I'd be pleased if you could set the maximum number of characters allowed higher (or even to unlimited) and/or add an additional info field where you can place the background story. That's the only thing I'm missing in comparison to MyRolePlay, by the way, and would - in my opinion - make IRP the perfect RP AddOn.

Aye, I can clearly understand your point, although I'd like the function. The problem with the background story is solved best with MRP, but I simply can't stand the layout of that AddOn - and the German translation is or at least was when I gave MRP a try, errh, moderate.
You said that there's no fun in being able to read the stories of other charakters, and on the one hand, you're right with that, no question. If someone writes too much about the character, it's e.g. not that surprising if suddenly a dark secret comes out inplay, but I refer back to the "too much"; dark secrets and stuff shouldn't even be noted in a background story. The background story visible to everyone should be a brief description of the character's, well, backgrounds, his or her childhood (if that won't tell too much), the way to adulthood (if the character is an adult)...just a little background information that supports the understandibility of the appearance which won't spoil the roleplay, but should be definitely kept outside the other character's knowledge until these characters learn about the stuff.
What I'm trying to say...it's all about what people do with the possibility of writing a background story, and still, nobody is forced to write one, even with the possibility. If someone doesn't want to read the background story, that's fine - that would work fine if the background story would be in a separate text box, similar to the description and notes inside the flag. As it's originally your AddOn, Seagale, and as you, Shannae, have chosen to carry on in working on it, I can only ask if you would implement it that or a similar way as some kind of a compromise; it's totally up to you how you handle it, and I fully respect whichever choice you make. Even if you won't add a place for the background story, I'll recommend IRP to everyone who doesn't need that much space for the character description, even if I won't use it myself.

Okay, I understand. To be compatible with every other RP addon, every RP addon has to feature exactly the same things, for instance, the same text fields. As I think that compatibility with other RP addons is one of the highest priorities. That means the only possibility for being able to write a background story is to write the text in several parts...and that isn't possible as the character limit is too low for background information. But as you already said that you won't raise or remove the limit, alas, I have to stay with flagRSP2. Anyways, thanks for your fast response!

At the moment it does obscure myself aswell as my Pet, unless i add both myself and my pet to the social list

First of i hope IRP will still get better, (as flagRSP is not updated anymore again :-( )
Im not sure how easy it is or how feasible, but flagRSPs Friendlist feature (IRP Social) was not hidding my own name or the one of my Pet from me :-)
Can this be added? (atm i have to add myself nad my Pet to teh Social list to see my own Tooltip without using the "/irp owntooltip" option)
and any possibility to make keybinding available for adding people to teh social list? (and maybe two bindings one for people one for guilds)
I do know i can target a person and rightclick the UF and add them, but using a keybinding would be nicer i think (for some at least)

All in all, thanks for having picked it up, hope you stay with it, and keep it working for us :-)
