  • About IHateTrade
  •

Possibly the shortest most valuable bit of code I have ever wrote.

Filters out non-trade chat, and non-LFG chat from the trade and LFG channels respectively, so you only see things that are "LFM", "LFG", "WTS" etc, making World of Warcraft 10 times more playable with these chat channels open.

Awesome work, fantastic Addon. No need to /leave trade anymore.
In a future version, it would be nice to see more options to add/see the filter keywords.
    Thanks!

Hey hey, just got back. Yeah, adding a feature to see the white and black lists of trade and lfg might not be such a good idea.

For starters, there is so few string matches in white and black (black has 2) that it's not really necessarily to add them to a print out or some sort of adding system.

Another reason is that I'm using a form of Lua in some of the string matches called character classes, which are wildcard characters for the string matches that have special functions. So, if you haven't been using them for a while, you actually need a manual to look up what all the strange characters do. So it may create lots of user problems.

For example, if players could add "lf" to the white list, it wouldn't work so well. Should work right? Yes it does to an extent. But it will also white list any message with the word "elf" in it, or anything else with the characters "lf" somewhere.

Not one to usually comment on addons, but I have to say, this is just plain greatness. No mindless babble anymore... just the things I care about.

Added a new version. The string matching is a little better, and added "recruit" and "guild" as words to filter out. I'm surprised how little downloads there are, especially since this is one of my most valuable bits of code.

    FIVE STARS!!

First of all THANK YOU VERY MUCH for making this addon!
This is just what I have been looking for! I am so happy that I actually made a curse.com account just to leave this comment. Seeing it in action, it seems to be working as intended with no problems. I only see useful TRADE chat or LFG chat. I don't see spam, I don't see A**l [Misdirect], I don't see "omg [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker]," "dude, your guild sux" and other personal drama that doesn't belong anywhere in a public space... the list goes on.

I do rely heavily on trade chat for TRADE and LFG stuff. Very useful for selling professions (as you might imagine), and getting into a group. I didn't want to have to completely leave trade since among all the crap there is usually good posts as well for people looking for my professions or selling something useful to me for cheaper than AH prices.

Again, many thanks for this addon. All my characters use this addon now!
