  • About Hit Assist for casters and melee

Hit Assist is an Easy addon to show you current hit needed per situation. This works for casters and melee.

Because of the big difference between different situations in required hit I decided to make this addon. For example when you are a caster and in an heroic with an draenei and an Shadow priest you don't need any hit and can purely focus on other stats and that way improve your dps. But when your raiding naxx without any +hit buffs your chance to miss will be that high that your dps will drastically decrease.

The addon checks: -If the player is a caster or melee -Current hit -Talents -Draenei Presence -Mob level

It also comes with a calculator to check some different setups.

  • Enhancement shamans should aim for a higher hit rating than is currently given. I think currently it's based on the yellow hit cap, but since a large portion of our damage comes from spells (LB,CL,ES,Flametongue)it should be based on the spell hit cap.

    This addon is suggesting that I get 3% hit via talents (destruction warlock). That is not true. I think the problem is that it has not been updated to the fact that "Cataclysm" in the destruction tree does not give hit any more.

    Another minor suggestion - currently the addon does not check whether Misery/IFF are present, and always simply assumes they are not. Would be nice if this default could be made slightly more intelligent - specifically, if a raid member has the "Moonkin Form" or "Shadow Form" buff, assume that Misery/IFF is present, otherwise assume it is not.

    Minor suggestion - since the only slash command that actually does anything useful is "/ha options" perhaps "/ha" by itself could simply bring up the GUI rather than telling the user to do "/ha help"? The shortcut would be appreciated.

    Yup, it does. But I question whether the numbers are accurate. It says I can stand to lose -225 hit rating. Why? What percentage is that?

    It also says I am -109 rating over the poison cap. Again, how? I'm only at 14% hit. 109 rating is a lot. Something doesn't seem right. If you could put a percentage by every rating, so I can compare them to my tooltips, that would be great.

    Awesome mod, btw, and desperately needed.

  • check to see what you are comparing your hit against, there is a drop down for what level you are comparing it to, i always have mine set to "Boss" option, and remember if you are going against a lvl 80 mob you don't need nearly as much as hit as you do on a boss.

  • hit assist is taking into account the Balance of power talent found in the druid balance tree 6th tier

  • Deathknights get 3% hit bonus from the 3 point talent Virulence

    also most DKs wield 2h so there is a difference in hit% and hit cap needed for them, if i get time once finals are over i'll try to read through your code and see if i can't help out any with it, i'm not very familiar with LUA but i'll see what i can do.

  • i am currently a duel spec resto/enh shaman and when i am set for enh dps and use hit assist i get the following error

  • Looks like everything is working great but may i make a small suggestion, since for enh shamans we work to hit the spell hit cap, allow for a check box or option that will let you switch between the spell hit cap and melee hit cap settings. thanks in advance :)

  • here's an idea to the enh shaman situation. since you have the code to set up spell hit cap for rogues for poison cap just add some lines in the shaman section that are similar to check for spell hit cap

    Hit values are nor refreshed when I open the window.
    I open the main windows, "current hit XX" "you need YY more hit rating"
    Fine, I close the windows and change some gear, open the window again and current hit is not refreshed and still says XX
    Am I missing something ?

    The stats are now reloaded when opening the calculator and there is a reload stats button so you don't have to open en close it when your changing gear. (version 2.4.4)
