What is GupPet:

GupPet is an add-on that gives an extension for mounting and calling critters. By a single click it mounts a ground, swimming or fly mount depending on the players location. Because most players have plenty of mounts and companions, and you probably like more than one, the add-on can randomly select mounts/companions depending on the selections in the option menu.

Basic Features:

  • Randomly selects a mount / companion location dependent.
  • Class support for Druids , Shamans and Mages
  • Automatically summons a companion
  • 3d model preview
  • Buttonfacade support
  • And many more ! ( Would be a to big list )

In game usage:

There are 3 types of controls.

  • Action buttons (Adds buttons and are move, hide and scalable.)
  • Key Binds
  • Slash Commands

“Collect Me” extension:

The collect me extension is based on the database of the original add-on by Merla and has been extended a bit .

How it works:

GupPet uses a small database to split the mounts that the player currently has learned. The splitting is based on type (ground, swimming or fly) and speed. When using the auto mount function the add-on will always try to select the fastest possible option, but if you can fly in an area the add-on select the flyable over the ground type. If your are swimming the aquatic will be selected above the other two types.

For the critters GupPet uses a small database to detect if a critter uses a type of reagent to call it, for some types you need a snowball. The add-on detects if you have that reagent with you and if not, the add-on won't select that type of critter.

Language support:

The languages that are currently supported are English , German ( Tnx to Farook at Curse) , Spanish ( Tnx to StiviS at Curse ) and Russian ( Tnx to StingerSoft at WowInterface.) With the none-supported languages the zone detection is not supported and therefore forces the two mount action buttons.

In development:

  • Changeable icons of the action buttons
  • Decent help Page

    Hello,

This addon is definitely a must-have when you like vanity pets and mounts!! :)

However it seems that it's missing the giant chicken TCG mount (65917), the Pint-Sized Pink Pachyderm pet has an incorrect tag, Senegal pet doesn't appears where it should alphabetically, I don't see the Curious Oracle Hatchling pet.

Morever, would it be possible to link pets and mounts? I mean, sometime you want a precise pet when you are on a given mount (like a phoenix hatchling when you're on a phoenix mount, for instance).

I can help you with a decent French localization if you want.

The "Magic Rooster" and "Curious Oracle Hatchling" are in the datatable of the addon since version 1.203 are you using a older version ?
The names of the pets are extracted from the game so that should be good or what tag do you mean?

The linking of the pets and mounts cannot be done as the 'core' ;p of the addon is not build to do that.

It would be great if you could translate the addon into the French language. :D

    Gtz Gup

I'm using 1.205 version and it tells me this mount is unknown and to report it :/
For the Oracle pet, I haven't found it either in the list, I'll double check again.

For the tag, it didn't say "Pint-Sized Pink Pachyderm" but something like "invocation of a Pint-Sized Pink Pachyderm".

How can I send you the FR translation file?

    Thanks for your great work!

Ok lets see if all is loaded correct. If you type "/dump GUPPET_DATA[65917]" in the game is there a "[2]=true" as return or "empty result" ? If its a empty result the datafile is not uptodate and you need to reupdate it.

The name bug is a bit weird.. what does the blizzard panel give as name ?

Ill send you a PM with my email to send the localization file.

I don't know what i could have done top make this happen seeing as all my other toons it works fine but on my shaman it just will not show up.

hhmz thats the first time i heard from this bug. Does it give an error when you log your shaman ? .. does your shaman has more addons that could brake guppet? If you disable all the addons except GupPet will it then boot ?.

Thats all i can think of atm.

Okay, never mind I found out what was wrong. I play in windows mode and I must have dragged it off screen and clicked on my web browser without thinking about the menu. So it seems that deleting and reinstalling doesn't reset the options menu position. So my problem isn't that it doesn't show up but where it shows up.

Also I was wondering if you could make it so I can I can split the companion and mount button. I like to have it in the lower right-corner and I thought it would be nice to have one in the lower-left corner.

Hmm that option menu should reset to its position on every load as the position is never saved.

Just put the companion on autosummon then you only need 1 extra button on the screen.

Well its not reseting for me. and as for the auto-summon, I can't because of my above problem.

Ok use this as 2 commands .. that will set the menu to the center

    /run GupPet_InterfaceOptionsFrame:ClearAllPoints();
    /run GupPet_InterfaceOptionsFrame:SetPoint("CENTER", UIParent, "CENTER", 0, 0);

    One suggestion...
a friend of mine uses a different addon that is similar to this one...
i forget the name... but i prefer the interface on this one...

the one thing i really like about the one he uses is, under his "collect me" section when you mouse over the different pets/mounts like with gupPet it tells you where to find them but also gives the drop rate.

any way to incorporate the drop rates in the info section of each collectible critter / mount?

i think another addon that has that feature is "the collector" not sure though... i'd still rather have the feature in gupPet. :)

Sounds a bit of a pain to implement that future as its all datamining and dont have the time to build that in atm.

  • Yes, I am posting lots of bug reports! :D GupPet doesn't seem to notice that I need to bring a pet out after hearthing.

It should do that as i never noticed the problem and used heartstone / summons all the time... Is AutoSummoning enabled in the location where you summoning to ?

  • So of course when I try to replicate the bug, it doesn't happen. D: Well, I'll keep trying, and in the meantime, here's how I have it set:

Enable autocall, all the subboxes checked. Minimum delay. Dismiss while mounted is not checked. Recall delay is 0; what does recall delay do, anyway? Recall in City/Inn only is checked.

While I've got you on the horn, could you add an option to not summon the same pet twice in a row? I know it's random as it is now, but I'd rather have some guaranteed variety.

If you set the recall delay on 0 its disabled ;) .. It does call a other critter from time to time if your iddle etc in a city or every where :) ..

As for the guaranteed variety i dont have the time atm to redo the code so with that function.

  • Oh, okay. That could be documented better; I thought recall meant dismiss.

  • Since today's update, GupPet's mount function doesn't seem to work for my main, at least when called with a macro. However, it works for my alt. My main's a belf with a Purple Hawkstrider; my alt's a Tauren with a White Kodo. (Yeah, they each only have one mount; I mainly got the plugin for its companion functionality.) Any idea what's going on here, or how I can find out?

  • Additional: I tested the builtin button with the same result (works for alt, doesn't work for main).
