  • About GoingPrice Wowhead Data Source Addon
  •

The GoingPrice_Wowhead data source addon uses the LibExtraTip library to display various statistics from Wowhead -- http://wowhead.com

This addon should update quite frequently -- about once a night.

Note:

If the latest version hasn't propagated to curse.com yet, you can go to http://goingpriceaddon.com to get it.

Release versions take the form of 3.1.xxxxxxxxxx where the '3.1' part is the version of the Wow interface supported and the 'xxxxxxxxxx' part is the date (in seconds from epoch) that the latest price was pulled from wowhead.com

Does the addon fallback to Vendor Prices in the tooltip if it doesn't have auction data?

I'm seeing some very strange prices in the last versions (or it was always so and I just noticed)

For example I saw Merlin's Robe (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47603) with a tooltip of "Buyout: 9g83s" which is obviously the vendor price not the auction one.

That is rather confusing and if you can notice it easily on such an item,
things are worse for lower level items like those "of the Monkey" greens that are AH-worthy.

    Hi Dridzt,

My data source addons are at the mercy of what the various data source websites post. I have no fallback mechanism in place. In the case of Merlin's Robe, wowhead.com must have posted a "Buyout: " (auction house value) figure for it which drastically differs from the consensus.
    Check out http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=47603

As far as items such as "... of the ..." are concerned, my cyber minions only know how to pull the base statistics without the "of the ..." part. I'll be adding this granularity later.

Why don't you be the first to post an enhancement request ticket for this on curseforge.com

My addon's have no open tickets and their getting lonely.

    Hi, thanks for reply.
I didn't follow up on the greens subject with an enhancement request as it's not what I meant :P.

What I meant to say is that an item like Merlin's Robe that normally auctions for thousands of gold it is very easy to notice that the goingprice suggestion of 9g and change is off.

When it comes to greens "of the bandit" "of the sorcerer" etc that auction for 15-20g the mixup with the vendor price of 9g is easier to skip your attention.

I can understand that the addon just puts in game the auction prices found on wowhead or alakazham but then there is a problem with the script that parses those sites.

    Compare Ebonweave Robe (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=42101) with
    Merlin's Robe (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47603)
First one wowhead gives a buyout price of 700g second has no auction data yet.
Shouldn't the parser just put "N/A" for auction data or something like that?

    Hello again Dridzt,

    Congrats!

You have uncovered a bug in one of my retrieval queries. Even though I "in-activated" the "wowhead-obsoleted" "Sells for" statistic, my retrieval query did not reflect my de-activation. It does now! Tomorrow's update will have the fix. As a result, "Merlin's Robe" will not have any wowhead data ... until, of course, someone finds it in the auction house. This is because it currently only has the obsolete "Sells for" statistic available for display, so my corrected retrieval query will now intelligently NOT create an entry for it. As soon as it has any active statistic available, it's tooltip will begin to show.

BTW your powers observation enabled me to shrink wowhead's data from 27000 to 17000 items for display which means a smaller memory footprint for the addon.

    Way to go !

    Neikos.

  • Hi there,
I'm not sure if I should post this problem here or at the page of auctioneer. Thought I would start here.
I get an error message if I use the going price add-ons (both wowhead and allakhazam) + the Informant add-on (part of auctioneer, but i only use informant). It seems that the problem lies with 'Stubby', on which informant is dependent. I'm not sure though. Hope you can help, I really want to keep using both add-ons..
    Here's the error message:

    Hello again CraftyCallisto,

Looks like GoingPrice was still using LibExtraTip revision #208 which like a stubborn ghost refused to pass on when Informant try to replace it with LibExtraTip revision #224.

I've instructed my cyber minions to update GoingPrice addon's so that they will use LibExtraTip revision #224 (and force revision #208 to go into the light).

Your problems with GoingPrice + Informant should, therefore, also vanish into the light.

    Thanks for pointing this out.

    Hello again Xska,

    I fixed the library.

My cyber minions will post the fix tomorrow when the next of the daily updates arrive. When you get it, can you let me know either way whether it's okay? If it's okay, I'll close the ticket.

    Hi Xska,

Nice catch with the "extremal" case. You must have some QA blood in you.

Neikos, hey dude. It's me again :)

I don't what you have done to goingprice addons lately, but I'm experiencing an extremely long loadtime for the two addons, wowhead and allakhazam :(. I don't know, but about a week ago, wowhead was working fine and it didn't take any time to load, but allakhazam suddenly started to take a painstakingly long time to load (this was after I downloaded a new version). I'm talking about 2 min or more.

The thing is, I fixed it by disabling some of the options in the interface tab, but now wowhead is acting the same way too :(. I tried running all my addons with the exception of the two, and it took about 15-20 sec. But when I run _only_ wowhead and allakhazam, it takes 2++ minutes. It takes such a long time that I get disconnected when everything has loaded.

Man, I really love and appreciate your addons, but I don't think I can take pleasure in using them anymore, because they stop me from playing WoW :P. Is it possible to use any light versions? Thank you so much for reply!

PS! my computer is low-end :)

(there was an error with the page when I tried posting it on "real" goinprice addon site)

One thing comes to mind. I believe I set LoadOnDemand to 0 in the GoingPrice_Wowhead.toc and GoingPrice_Allakhazam.toc files. Try setting it to 1. If my understanding is correct, the extra load time will happen "in game" when you access the addon for the first time as opposed to "during startup".

    Go to:
<Wow installation>\Interface\AddOns\GoingPrice_Wowhead\GoingPrice_Wowhead.toc to make the change. Likewise for GoingPrice_Allakhazam.

If it works let me know and I'll make the next updates follow suit.

    Heya

Nah, unfortunately it didn't work. The addons weren't loaded at all, even though they were checked in the addons loadlist at the character selection. I checked performancefu too, and it stated only itself as a loaded addon. I hope I'm not bringing you too much work :S. I feel kinda bad for having these problems :).

One thing, did you do any drastic change to wowhead's todays update? Because wowhead was working fine yesterday, but after this recent update it loaded ten times slower.

    Reply Report Permalink
  • Neikos said

    Don't feel bad.

Only the complainers of the world can make it a better place.

So, the extra load time comes from GoingPrice un-conditionally re-indexing the data just in case the user "discarded/greyed" any statistic.

You didn't see this before because of yet another bug w.r.t. saved variables which upon fixing yesterday, Oct 10, exhibited the extra load time that you're seeing now.

Tomorrow's update should have the following fix. It will now detect if the user "discarded/greyed" any statistic. If not, the addon will not re-index/shrink the data -- because there's nothing to shrink -- and you should see no extra load time. If so, it will re-index/shrink the data and you will see extra load time -- but a smaller memory footprint :-)

The bottom line: If you want the faster load time, make sure no statistic is discarded/greyed.
