  • About Geist
  •

WARNING: This release removes ButtonFacade support for the time being. If you wish to keep it, you will have to remain at v30100.2 for Geist and 3.1.255 for ButtonFacade until such time as I can write it back in.

Geist provides a twenty-five button action bar that displays under the mouse cursor at a keypress for quick and convenient access.

How to use: Bind a key to Geist using the keybinding interface in the menu. Geist will display whenever that key is pressed with the mouse over the center button.

If only there were some sort of instructions on how to keybind listed within the addon description above, some sort of guide that the ability to read would uncover...

"How to use: Bind a key to Geist using the keybinding interface in the menu. Geist will display whenever that key is pressed with the mouse over the center button."

does that uses any button bar which is already in game or does it creates a new bar. i mean i am using all the available bars in game already (i am a druid with dual spec so you imagine :)) and i need more but i dont like other addons because they are using the bar which is already i am using....

This one uses existing bars. If you have any buttons free, you can change the id of the Geist buttons to suit your needs, but you will need at least some free to use the addon.

You only know how much you depend on an addon until it is broken :(. In my book that means you do a hell of a job (and plz fix Geist for 3.1). Keep up the good work

Is it broke? I've been using it fine. Granted it does need a toc update, but loading out of date addons should work until I do that. Didn't want to waste the addon sites already strained patch day bandwidth with something that wasn't critical.

  • There seems to be a Bug with the Standard wow additional Action Bars (the two at the right and the bottom left and bottom right one).
I have Auto Hiding on, so when a Button is empty it will hide. But when i use Geist, it occurs that the Buttons will never hide unless i hide them all, what i dont want.

I've noticed problems with buttons showing/not showing lately as well, when it used to work before. I'm not entirely sure that it's a Geist issue, but I'll see what I can figure out.

    1) Install.
    2) Set keybinding in the bindings menu.
    3) Press the bound button.
    4) Drag things into Geist.
    5) ???
    6) Profit!

There seems to be a problem with the button grid not showing up if even it should be. You can still drag things into Geist, you just can't see where the buttons are until you're over them. I'm not sure why that's happening.

I have a question. Below you quoted the two scripts that cause Geist to open and close in the last place it was opened. This is typically what I use, because binding Geist to a mouse button doesn't let me click any of the buttons. However, what I've noticed is that you can't get Geist to open/close using this method while in combat. Is there a fix for this?

I tested it out and you're right. I have something in mind that might fix it, but I'll need to add it to the mod proper, and I want to make sure it works first.

Incidentally, this also causes taint, which I'd like to eliminate as well.

Good, I hope you can find a solution to this. I don't find this to be a huge deal, but would be an improvement.

  • I'd like to test this mod, but I'm getting these errors upon login:

    Geist-30000.4\GeistFrame.lua:62: Usage: GeistHeader:SetScale(scale)
    Geist-30000.4\GeistFrame.lua:62: in function `Geist_Create'
    Geist-30000.4\Geist.lua:11: in function

I can't replicate this on a fresh install, and there's no reason it should be happening. My first suggestion would be to delete your Geist savevariables file and see if that fixes it.
