This addon on adds a level equivalent to the skill bars in the Skills window.

About

This addon is very useful in helping quickly display what level your learned skills, like fishing, are. The level displayed in the skill bar is roughly equivalent to the character level it's related to. It's a pretty simple low overhead addon, but it removes busy work (math) for determining the skill level -> character level conversion.

Usage Tips

Knowing the equivalent character level of of your skills can help out when deciding what to do with them. In the case of the fishing skill, just go to an area that has the indicated level monsters for prime fishing skillup. For weapon skills, the level listed is the level that you are effectively fighting as.

Addon is based on last published version 2.1

Changes from Gearshaft's 2.1 - Skill conversions properly account for the different max skillpoints introduced in BC. Professions max out at 375 points. Basic skills like weapon skill, defense, class skills like lockpicking etc max out at 350 points. - All skill to level conversions attributed properly.

    The 7.5 modifier is only applied for skillpoints above 300 and for professions only.
    The modifiers applied are 300/5 = 60 and 75/7.5 = 10.
    60 + 10 = 70 (the current level cap)

    Don't know what you're on about,
    the math is fine.

  • Umm in your code you have
    if SkillPoints <= 300 then
    addition = SkillPoints/5;
    else
    addition = 60 + (SkillPoints-300)/7.5;
    end
    This is wrong it should be

    addition = SkillPoints/5;

    the /7.5 is wrong!! because at lvl 305 i can skinnen lvl 61 because 305/5 = 61 and the max is lvl 75 not 70 !!! ... 375/5 = 75!!

  • Yes the level cap is 70, but not for professions the level cap for professions is 75!!! Because there are mobs that are great than level 70 u can skin! I have tested this with my level my 64 hunter and 70 druid!! So after 300 you just /5 like always!! Not 7.5!! You go and try it by getting you skill to 305,310,315=61, 62, and 63!! If you don’t know about or play the game please don’t correct people!

  • Fishing is probably the worst example you could have used... you could skill all the way to 300 sitting in Stormwind city! Furthermore, at 300 skill you can't even cast in level 60 areas like winterspring (330 min to cast) and at 400 skill (thanks to luers) some of them will still get away. However, if you wanted to say, skill cooking, and your cooking skill is level 50... it'll give you some direction where to fish for food to cook.
