  • About Gatherer
  •

Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on you minimap.

When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations marked on the particular map you are viewing there.

For more information, please visit us at http://www.gathereraddon.com/

USAGE:

Just use the game as normal. When you gather things, they will appear on your minimap and your main map. If you want to configure the addon, click the Gatherer configuration icon floating around your minimap frame or type /gather options.

CONTRIBUTING:

Gatherer is an open source project, and is built upon the donations and the support of the community.

    I wish you could somehow make it posible for Gatherer to get info from wowhead. Like you post a link from wowhead (example: http://www.wowhead.com/?object=1621) in a small box, and then itll register all the places, instead of the fact that you have to find them first... :S Please add this if its posible :)

    Keta77,

    As noted, below:

    "You can download and install the GathererDB_Wowhead AddOn, which will provide a pre-filled database that you obtain by installing the AddOn as usual and then importing the data. See the download page on WoWInterface, at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11707-GathererDBWoWHead.html ."

    Freeleoci,

    Just do a manual install.

    Download the file using the Manual option.

    Once downloaded, extract the four folders and then move them to ..\WorldofWarcraft\Interface\AddOns.

    Not sure why you are having issues, the files here on Curse are of the correct size. If you still have issues, you can use http://WoWInterface.Com or our main site, http://GathererAddOn.Com/dl/ .

    Sjiro,

    As noted up in the "Description":

    "
    Slash Commands /gather minimap (on|off|toggle) - controls the minimap tracking functionality /gather mainmap (on|off|toggle) - controls the world map tracking functionality /gather dist <n> - sets the minimap tracking distance to this number of units. (in game yards) /gather num <n> - sets the maximum number of items to display (default=20, up to 50) /gather herbs (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show herb data on the minimap") /gather ore (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show mining data on the minimap") /gather treasure (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show treasure data on the minimap") /gather options - show the configuration dialog "

    The important command, for you, is at the end.

    Also, the reason why we added the SlideBar is to help folks avoid having any buttons showing. It is installed, by default, just below the minimap and shows as a small yellow tab until you mouse-over it.

    You do not have to use the SlideBar, either, but it is an option.

    Happy Gatherering,

    Nikk

    Mollycita,

    Sorry, we do not support private servers.

    As you can see from the file list, above, with the old versions of Gatherer, we release versions as Blizzard patches the game and the current version you obtain from the main download button functions correctly for the current 3.3.x version of World of Warcraft and includes a Spanish localization.

    jubjub666jubjub,

    One more time with the same response, as before-

    As noted in the replies to those with issues:

    "All you need to do is "Load Out of Date" in the main WoW AddOns Control Panel; accessed by clicking the Addons button in the lower left of the Character Selection Screen, until we release the next version.

    The current version works completely fine with WoW 3.3, so there is no need for a new one just for that."

    ok... nevermind AGAIN... the gatherer addon appears in the addonl ist now, but the mini-map button is a clear circle, when i try clicking it i get this:

    Message: Interface\AddOns\Gatherer\GatherStorage.lua:62: attempt to call global 'DongleStub' (a nil value)
    Time: 02/04/10 20:32:33

    COUNT = 3
    HARVESTED = 4
    INSPECTED = 5
    SOURCE = 6

    globalName = "GatherItems"
    data = nil

    }
    (*temporary) = nil
    (*temporary) = "Astrolabe-0.4"

    any ideas what is causing this? and yes. i have realized my computer doesnt like addons.

    Freeleouci,

    Either the library did not download and extract properly or another AddOn is providing an outdated version of the library.

    Reinstall manually, as described above, and, or, find the other AddOn and disable it or update it.

  • When Blizzard did there rolling restarts 2/3/09 or 2/4/09 for some reason all my mined nodes in my database disappeared and my db did 2. Is there any way I can fix this problem or I just have to mine them all again.

    Magefrost89,

    As noted below:
    The only way for such a thing to happen would be for the database, locally, to have become corrupt.

    Unless you have a recent backup, there is really nothing we can do for you. That said, a friend or guildmate can easily send you their database; simply follow http://wiki.norganna.org/Gatherer/FAQ#can_i_give_my_data_of_nodes_to_a_mate_without_mailing_my_settings_to_him_ .

    If there is no one, you can download and install the GathererDB_Wowhead AddOn, which will provide a pre-filled database that you obtain by installing the AddOn as usual and then importing the data. See the download page on WoWInterface, at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11707-GathererDBWoWHead.html .

    Also, although WoW itself is quite stable, the AddOns' settings are provided with no real, working automatic backup, so read and follow the instructions for backing up all of your AddOns via the article on our wiki, http://wiki.norganna.org/Backup .

    Happy Gatherering,

    Nikk
