  • About Fortress
  •

Fortress is a display addon for LDB data feeds. It shows each plugin as a block, which is freely movable and can stick to other blocks. Blocks can be unstuck by holding the ctrl-key while dragging them.

Commands:
Use /fortress or /ft to open the configuration (also accessible via Main Menu -> Interface -> Addons -> Fortress).

Configuration:
The configuration has two parts: The master settings and the individual plugin settings. At first each option is controlled by the master settings and therefore it has the same effect for each plugin. Once you change something individually for one plugin, this setting is no longer controlled by the master mode (for this plugin).
You can select the mode for each option at the "Select master" tab in each plugin's config screen.

  • Is there a way to make the labels not show up on mouse over? For example, I have several addons I just use the icon for. Lets use Ara Broker Tradeskills as an example. I use just the icon for ABTs which shows the last skill I used and I can just click on it to reopen, or hover and the tooltip menu opens and I can get it. I have used this with both Chocolate Bar and Bazooka without issue. However, when I use fortress (which I want to use for better layout control) and set no text, no label, and leave the icon checked, it is fine until I mouse over, then the label pops back up and stays there until I reload UI or move zones or enter an instance. This normally wouldn't be a big deal, except it is right next to other ldb plugins and if I mouse over several they all pop up with their name covereing each other and it is a big mess.

Fixed in the new beta (Fortress 1.13-beta1-1-gb43d049), I forgot to commit a small change before tagging the whole thing )-:

Every time after you sign off and come back in, the border and its color needs to be reset. The setting is there, you can see it in the interface but it is not being read. Thanks for your time and help

FaustusX, in case you weren't able to find the answer, the problem is that the author shipped a version with an incorrect value in the Fortress.toc file.

You can either choose to Load Out of Date Addons from your addons preferences in the game and wait for the author to update the .TOC file with a proper value...

or you can update the .TOC file yourself. On the first line, you should see:

    ## Interface: 31000

    change that to:

    ## Interface: 30100

This will make it appear to be no longer out of date in WoW, but if you use the Curse client, as I do, it will give you a hazard symbol because the files have been altered.

wow thx for this addon - works very well.

coming from statsblock there is one thing i miss though.

In statsblock you had the option to rename labels for blocks any chance you would consider adding this?

  • I'm at a loss here ... some of the fortress blocks are stuck on top of other fortress blocks and I'm unable to move them off each other. At first I thought is was b/c they're FuBar converts; however, this isn't the case (entirely) -- some of them are non-FuBar ldb items. Thoughts, suggestions?

I am curious - why does Blizzard list this addon as "out of date" when its more current than some of my others?

I've got FuBar Dummy and Fubar2Broker running, but now I'm finding that several FuBar mods, all in their own folders, are failing to load automatically. They can be loaded on demand, but I'd love to fix it so I don't have to remember to do that. Any ideas?

Examples might be useful: AmmoFu, NameToggleFu, RecountFu, RestFu, VolumeFu. I've been looking for Broker equivalents, but not found any yet.

I am having a weird issue with Fortress now. On some on the blocks, the title of the mod is not centered and some go off the end of its block onto the next one? Fixed Width is off.

  • Me too. All blocks without icons have their text misplaced - making the text go outside block boundaries on the right side. Weird :)

    Quick questions:

    1. If I've got a load of FuBar items which can't be loaded without FuBar itself being loaded, how do I get around it? I can load FuBar at the same time, which lets me see all of the additional items, but isn't Fortress supposed to completely replace FuBar? I use ACP to control my addons, but while the items are shown as dynamically loadable, they refuse to load because their dependency is missing.

    2. Some of the mods I use most often are installed as part of FuBar, and are therefore included inside the FuBar folder. Can I break them out into their own folders in the Addons folder? How else would I get them running?

you need fubar dummy and fubar2broker addons, fortress does not completely replace fubar for non-LDB addons.

I searched for Fubar Dummy on Curse and didn't find it. For a moment there I thought you were just being insulting...

Found it on WoWInterface, trying it now, thanks. Already using Fubar2Broker.

For all Fubar users, please install Fubar2Broker. That will convert your Fubar addons to using LDB, making them show up properly in Fortress, which speaks LDB.

Could anyone tell me how I can add addons like Pitbull, Sunn Art, or any other addons that are not showing up, to the Fortress?

Agree with buddlespit below. Something with fubar addons is borked in the most recent beta regarding their tooltips. They only work intermittently, and I'm not sure why. No errors in bugsack.

  • I appear to have a problem with addons that have fubar support working with fortress. They show up, but nothing happens when I mouse over them, vs. what happened before I updated (1.1b3 vs. v1.05.). There are no error messages at this time.
