  • About Extra Bars
  •

Overview

Adds 4 extra action bars designed to work and look like the standard action bars. These bars are intended to complement your existing UI.

Features

  • 4 additional action bars are added which allow upto 12 buttons per bar
  • Designed to be quick and easy to configure
  • Does not change or alter the standard action bars in the game
  • Bars can be dragged anywhere on screen and orientated horizontally or vertically
  • Non actions can be dragged to the bar to allow counts of items
  • Should also be compatible with Bartender, Dominos, macaroon, etc...

Upcoming in v0.8

  • / command's for configuration
  • Option to fully hide faded gui control
  • 'Conditionals' for bar visibility (will allow bar to be shown/hidden during combat etc)
  • / command to change the strata level of each bar (controls if the bar will appear above or below other gui elements)

Instructions

  • These buttons work with the standard drag and drop of actions
  • A faint icon can be found at the top right corner of each bar, clicking this will provide some quick graphical options to configure the bar including a shortcut button to the bars configuration page
  • To change configuration settings go to the Interface->Addons->Extra Bar menu option
  • To bind keys to the buttons go to the 'Extra Bar' section of 'Key Bindings'

Known Issues

  • Macros with identical names may be switched around on the bar
  • Critters and Mounts do not darken if they cannot be used
  • Some spells/abilities may not have a fully updated display on the button (e.g. Hunter Aspects only ever show the skill icon, they don't change to a wisp icon when active)

Feedback

I appreciate feedback and comments you have. Free time to work on this addon is tight, but I will try to put priority behind any significant issues that crop up provided I can confirm them.

I checked this mod. Right now I'm using Ovale as a view only actionbar.
for this to work for what I need it would need the following.

    1. Click thru
    2. The ability for the bar to have one set of icons for each spec. So as a warrior if I have bloodthirst on the bar as fury, but then I can use that same bar for arms for mortalstrike.
    3. Hide bar outside of combat.

Ovale is an overkill for what I'm doing, but its the only mod that can do the above. I rather have icons that work exactly like that do on the default actionbar.

    some suggestions :
1- why only 4 bars? can make them 10 ?
2- easy way to hide/unhide them at any time during gameplay.
3- bars with more than one "Face" so it is like 4 or 5 bars in one :)

    thank you

This addon is perfect for me. Thank you. You wouldn't believe how long I've been looking for an addon that gives extra bars, and only extra bars without changing anything else or having 239487239487 options!

  • Just downloaded your addon and would just like to say that it's great! Only problem that I really noticed is that i can't put the equipment manager buttons onto the bars. When you go to put the button on the bar it just disappears?

I have a character with special ø in the name. The extra bars's preference can't be saved, which means it resets every time i log in. I have created a new toon without speical ø, and the extra bars works fine. Is there any way to solve this problem?

I've noted that there is a bug concerning the tracking of Pets and Mounts in the current release - between gameplay sessions.
I'll attempt to get to the bottom of this and have a new version up - Sorry for the inconvenience

Note: if you encounter the issue, logout and back in and it should correct itself (it only happens the first time you log in after starting wow)

since the 3.3 patch i have severe lags when using extra bars - such a shame :(

Unfortunately I'm aware of a few people who encounter degraded performance, they too noted the decrease in performance after a patch (although it was patch 3.2 in their case) - I haven't managed to replicate this myself, so have no fix for this in the pipe line at this stage.

A little bug... if I open and close the fullscreen world map, the green numbers always appear.

    Normal bars:

    Open world map:
    http://mobius.netsons.org/Temp/Screen02.jpg

    After close world map:

The problem could be resolved by changing the parent frame in CreateConfigPage:

    Old: local page_temp = ExtraBarConfigLib:CreateConfigPage("EBConfig"..num, UIParent, "Extra Bar "..num, "Configure Extra Bar "..num, "SecureHandlerShowHideTemplate");

    New: local page_temp = ExtraBarConfigLib:CreateConfigPage("EBConfig"..num, nil, "Extra Bar "..num, "Configure Extra Bar "..num, "SecureHandlerShowHideTemplate");

I don't know if this solution is right, anyway it works for me at the moment... :)

    Thanks for that :)
I'll take a look at incorporating this into the next release

    Hey guys,
Sorry about that; it came out of me rushing to get an update out on the weekend.

This issue should now be resolved in v0.7.5 which I have just uploaded, and the bar will remain however you place and size it between gameplay sessions.

Thanks! That seems to have done the trick, working just fine now. :)

I've been changing the code for myself, making it add eight bars instead of four, so far the most I've used is six bars. I really love this addon. Thank you very much.

I'm glad you are able to alter it to provide further bars :) That must provide a few headaches when I update though lol.

I was hoping to make the number of bars user choosable, but there is a bit of work required to properly support it on the UI side of things (particularly regarding key binding) before it could be done to a releasable level.

I'm having the same problem as Sargonan. Out of the 4 bars visible, the 2 on the right side of the screen dont stay where I put them. They maintain the correct Y coord setting but the X coord seems to be pushed back some. I dont know if theres a limit to the X coord but my resolution on my screen is 1920x1200. Alternator, does the X coord go up that high? I was gonna peak at the lua code to see what it might be but thought I'd post the problem here first.

Actually x and y coords are scaled to begin with, so to some degree they are resolution independant.

The issue was (there were two actually), the bar was being positioned based on where it was last placed correctly, however it was doing this before it had applied your user defined settings such as size and orientation to the bar, in some cases this could cause the bar to collide with the edge of the screen nudging it out of place.

I'm also using a larger than normal screen size, mine is 1280x720.

Starting with the .0.7.4 release, my bars won't stay where I put them. I size two bars at .8, and move them over by the right side action bars. When I log out and back in, they are shifted over to the left lined up with bottom action bars. If I leave the size of the bar at 1, instead of smaller, then they stay by the right action bars without shifting back between sessions.

  • In the screenshots the little numbers (1,2,3,4) don't show in the top right corner, how do i do that because i have one of my bars below my chat frame and so the number its in my chat frame and can interfere with my chat especially guild because they're both green.
