This fun little addon does two things:

First, it adds lots of new emotes to the game; /grats now works in exactly the same way as /congratulations (why didn't it before? Well, it does now), and you have some other fun ones created using the /me emote, like /r1e (raise one eyebrow), /envy, /sulk, /frustrated, and so on. Tons of preset ones already. Lots of fun, and great for RP.

Secondly, it's even useful because it can alias any command you can type that an addon's allowed to invoke intto a shorter one (for example, /gm brings up the GM help pane using a longer /script command, which is really useful if your UI hides those icons for more screen space like mine does).

(Note: Emotes created using /me (such as the ones in the Emotomania_CustomEmotes table) do not work cross-faction, due to a deliberate game mechanic imposed by Blizzard to prevent free cross-faction communication. No matter what you put, the other faction will simply see "Name makes some strange gestures." - so stick to built-in emotes, like /hug and /charge, or /spit if you really must, you disgusting person you, to express your intentions towards the other faction.)

You can add your own custom emotes, and command aliases, by simply editing the Emotomania.lua file - the table's near the top of the file and it's pretty easy to edit - you should get the hang of it pretty quick.

In future: Emotomania will, in the future, be replaced by a new mod (tentatively titled MyEmotes) which will feature a GUI for in-game emote editing. Handy (when I get around to really finishing it).

Updated for WoW 2.2.0 (UnitName(x) for a non-existent target now incorrectly returns Unknown instead of nil, so I added a UnitExists check).

I wrote this only as a convenience for myself originally (and it's a bit of an obscure exercise in dynamic code generation) so it's nice to see that actually quite a few other roleplayers use it. :) For those of you who wanted FuBar support or some kind of menu, or a GUI editor to make emote editing more convenient, I'm starting to write a new mod called MyEmotes. I won't touch FuBar until it's stabilised after the 2.2.0 change (what the heck is Rock?), but I might think about it after then.

You can use anything, even Notepad, to edit the .lua file and see, but for those of you who wanted a list of the preset emotes this comes with (that I haven't touched for a while), here it is:

    /look, /sulk, /cute, /pout, /r1e, /r2e, /nodhead, /shakehead, /np, /forgive, /disagree, /abstain, /ack, /offerhand, /handshake, /challenge, /peace, /innocent, /butter, /halo, /meh, /feh, /wtf, /gl, /fr, /tantrum, /envy, /contempt, /patient, /pain, /irritated, /furrow, /drify, /wry, /cheeky, /fawn, /swoon, /want, /lonely, /hold, /happysigh, /snuggle, /kisscheek, /kissnose, /kisslips, /strokecheek, /strokehair, /deepkiss, /lead, /leadpull, /busy, /quizzical, /glance, /consult, /tinker, /uncertain, /nervous, /steely, /glower, /haughty, /icy, /tower, /through, /command, /blank, /dawn, /idea, /notice, /crushed, /ooh, /pickme, /ahem, /unemotional, /impressed, /unimpressed, /approve, /disapprove, /comfy, /uncomfy, /adjust, /creep, /peer, /tail, /run, /panic, /noidea, /sap, /sapleft, /sapright, /sheepleft, /sheepright, /pull, /go, /patrol, /aggro, /vanish, /stab, /ambush, /baa, /murloc, /scream, /squeal, /app, /pleased, /think, /happysmile, /tearwipe, /tearful, /downcast, /depressed, /excited, /breath, /relief, /stroke, /ear, /rolleyes, /fallover, /trip, /calculate, /narrow, /squint, /sneeze, /wash, /bathe, /splash, /omg, /warm, /hot, /watch, /tease, /shinkick, /snort, /stop, /halt, /mutter, /flinch, /tremble, /sniffle, /burst, /loom, /chant, /hide, /snap, /dust, /wipe, /pointme, /slitthroat, /twiddle, /like, /sad, /dislike, /annoyed, /awe, /admire, /irritated, /restchin, /scratchchin, /elbows, /disappointed, /wary, /curse, /swear, /ohno, /pant, /pace, /scout, /hair, /smilewarm, /smileslight, /smilebroad, /smilehappy, /smilelove

    There's also /grats (/congrats), /wd (/commend), /inc (/incoming), /curt (/curtsey), /speak (/talk) - more convenient aliases for built-in emotes.

And finally, there's /gm which runs /script KnowledgeBaseFrame:Show(); - very handy when you're hiding the default icons but need to file a ticket.

...the challenge, after you've used this mod for a while, is to try to remember which emotes are built-in Blizzard emotes and which are Emotomania. :)

  • Is there a way to find out a list of the emotes? And when will you have FuBar support?

  • Is there/ will there be FuBar support?

  • http://lua-users.org/wiki/LuaEditorSupport is where u can go to download a programn to edit lua files.

the .lua file has instructions on how to edit the file and it has alot of great emotes already built in.

    /sniffle /hair /cutthroat /twidle thumb /awe /wipe /dust /snap /chant

are all some goods ones but there are like a million and u would have to go look at the file packdam

anyways its a great mod good work.

Where is the list of the commands?

It says that have a hundred of commands but I don't know any...

It would be easier if the creator put a window with the list, just click and char will do the emote...

    • edit* what i should say is... i can't find a program that will allow me to edit that .lua file.

    im on a mac, btw
