  • About EkWaitList
  •

EkWaitList is a wait list addon that will let you maintain a list of people in the same order that they were added to the list. You can also sort the list by name, class, guild rank, or the time they were added to the list. If you are in a party or raid when someone on the wait list joins the party/raid, then they can be automatically be removed from the wait list.

You can update the list manually, or have people send special whisper commands to the person in charge of the wait list. These special whisper commands allow people to add themselves to the wait list, to remove themselves from the wait list, and to see who is currently on the wait list. You can choose whether to accept whispers only from guild members, or from anyone.

EkWaitList can also make use of main character names stored in guild notes to allow people to whisper from either their main or alternate characters, and remove the correct player from the wait list when they join a party/raid.

The addon allows you to send (via whispers) a copy of the wait list data to someone else that also has EkWaitList installed. The main purpose for this is to provide a way for the wait list to be given to someone else when the person currently in charge of the wait list has to leave.

Because the addon does not use a chat channel, the only person that has to have the addon installed is the person in charge of the wait list. The addon does not track whether a player is online/offline or what zone they are in, since those features would require a chat channel and also require that everyone have the addon installed.

If you have the EkRaidAttend addon installed, then EkWaitList can provide the names of the people on the wait list to EkRaidAttend so that it can record their names in attendance lists. EkRaidAttend is not required to run EkWaitList.

For more detailed information about this addon refer to the index.html file that is included with the addon.

To open the addon's UI window, assign a keybinding or type: /ekwl

Command summary:

You can use either /ekwl, or /ekwaitlist, to begin any of these commands:

/ekwl -- Toggles the EkWaitList window.
/ekwl help/? -- Displays this command summary.

The <channel> can be one of the following:
g or guild -- Guild chat (the default if you are in a guild)
o or officer -- Officer chat
p or party -- Party chat
r or raid -- Raid chat
s or say -- Say
y or yell -- Yell
<number> -- The number of a channel you are already joined to.
<name> -- The name of a channel you are already joined to.

Example: /ekwl who guild
Example: /ekwl who 5
Example: /ekwl who mychannel

Wait list whisper commands

These are the commands that players can whisper to the person in charge of the wait list. You can enable/disable each whisper command from the EkWaitList options windows.

wl -- Display the available wait list whisper commands.
wl who -- Display who is on the wait list.
wl add -- Add your current character to the wait list.
wl add <name> -- Add one of your characters to the wait list.
wl main -- Add your main character to the wait list.
wl remove -- Remove yourself from the wait list.

Some examples:

If Jane was in charge of the wait list and you wanted to add yourself to it, you would use the following command: /tell jane wl add
To remove yourself from Jane's wait list you would type: /tell jane wl remove

What is the syntax for demarking the mains/alts, can officer notes be used, or does it have to be Guild Notes?

    I have 3 Characters
    Strot <Main>
    Stort, Woco <alts>

What shoudl the guild notes look like?

  • really great addon, exactly what i am looking for.
i just have one request because adding it on my own proves difficult due lacking overview to the 7k lines of code ;) : could you add a whisper command for people setting their own comments? e.g. "wl status afk 10 minutes" or "wl status i am on char MyCharNotInGuild", "wl status" -> responds with current comment text

I am having issues with about half of the raid getting a message that "so and so is already in the raid". It appears it is thinking the person is someone else.

I would like to suggest an option to ignore all checks when someone /w wl main, we usually keep people on standby in group 6-8 so its not really feasible for me to use the mod.

EKWL will not work with Blizz's addition of the class-colored names active. It disables chat entirely.

  • Feature Suggestion:

    /ekwl who respond

This would spam the contents of the wait list to the last person that messaged you. I personally would use this in a macro for when I run org PvP groups and ppl ask me who is on the wl. Most pugs being unable to figure out how to simply wl who themselves and all.

    Thank You!!!!

I'm having a problem with guildies that have hexed letters in their names. They get the message: " you must be in the same guild as the person running the wait list in order to use the add command."

If I set it to "Anyone can add..." then it cuts the first letter off the name and as such, will not invite because the name is not found.

I prefer to use this mod over the others I've found, so I hope a resolution can be had.

Also...a synch with other officers would be spectacular.

  • I use this mod and love it. however, i was wondering if it is at all possible to add feature so that other people using this mod can synchronize with each other.

With EK attend it shows if the player was online or offline. But with the wait list it just says "wait list" is it possible to either remove people from the wait list when they log off? And check for their alt being online rather then their main? I want to award dkp for being online and available to raid not just on the list.

  • Would it be possible to have the addon track a user set channel for the list instead if having them send whispers. They would just join the 'wait channel' instead. If I am in the channel too I can see people coming and going, I would like to track it. If EKRA could include it in the snaphot that would be great!

    Thanks :)

I love the concept of this, and EKRA works fine for me. But when I have this mod enabled and in a raid, it lags the fuck out of me. Anytime someone joins raid, logs on from my guild, leaves raid, its like 1-2s of UI lag.

Any fix for this? Or any idea what might be causing it? I can only assume its not widespread or that people use another version of this or a different attendance/list package altogether, because I dont see any complaints about it.

We have a lot of people on reserve - when we have a DKP event I currently have them all pm me. I then manually check who is actually there versus who ekwl says are on the list.

What would be great is if i could get them to whisper something like /wl confirm so I get a list of who is actually there. That way the list i generate from the wait list is of those people who are actually online rather that the ones who have logged/are idling.

    Appreciate any assistance or feedback

    Great mod.

One suggestion, I would make it so that they only have to enter one command, such as "wl" or "list" to add them by default. I run a PvP group, and most people are used to raidlist or just don't pay attention and send me "list" or "wl" and don't take the time to read that they need to do "wl add". I know, it's their fault, but to simplify it, it would be nice to just have one command to add them.

    Something to consider.

    Thanks!

Great mod, any chance to have it record how long each people are on the waitlist before they are invited to the raid?

    Great addon...

Only thing I can't make work is to allow an Alt to put their main on the list. I changed our guildnotes for alts to have the mains name in the guildmember notes bracketed with the [ and ]

So the guildmember SandsAlt would have a guildnote that says "Alt of [Sandxor]" Then from SandsAlt I /w Raidleader WL add

And SandsAlt gets added to the list, not Sandoxr. I seem to have enabled all the options for this. Am I doing something wrong?

It would be great to be able to spam the list to /g /o /channel 3 etc... too

When you whisper "wl add" to someone, it will always add the name of the character you are currently playing as. The reason for this is that it is possible that someone may want to play in the raid using one of their alternate characters. If it automatically added their main's name whenever they whispered from an alt, then they would have no way to add their alt's name to the wait list.

Most of the time people log into the character that they want to play in the raid since they don't yet know if the raid is going to be full or not. Once they find out that the raid is full, they add themself to the wait list and then switch to their alt while they wait.

When adding people to the wait list, the main/alt information is currently being used to prevent people from having multiple wait list entries. This is important when using the wait list for attendance purposes (such as when using my EkRaidAttend addon).

When removing people from the wait list, the main/alt information is being used to ensure the correct entry is removed. It doesn't matter which character name you have on the wait list, or which character you are currently playing as. The addon will remove your current character's name, your main's name, or any of your alt names. Your name is automatically removed from the wait list when you whisper "wl remove", or when you join the raid.

I could add another whisper command that would tell the addon to add your main character's name to the wait list instead of your current character's name. Perhaps something like: "wl main".

Going a step further, I could allow you to add a specific main or alt name to the wait list instead of your current character's name. Something like: "wl add name". As long as "name" matched your main name or one of your alt names, then the addon would use "name" when adding your wait list entry.

So for example, if you were playing as an alt named SandsAlt you would be able to whisper "wl main" or "wl add Sandxor" to add your main's name (Sandxor) to the wait list.

I would love an option to be able to send the waitlist into guild chat or even to another channel/raid. My gulid members want to see who is on the waitlist infront of them but don't see how to do this.

    Thank you, great addon.

This mod could use the new party/raid channels in patch 1.12 to allow syncing. I think I would even make the a requirement for my raid leaders if it did that.

Does it check for online?? If people goes offline, do they remove themself automatically?

Anyway I will look for it.
