  • About [LootCount] DropCount
  •

It will maintain a database over drop-rates (how often and from what mob) for items dropped by mobs - viewable on-screen at mouseover. Also records vendors and books.

Changes since previous version

[added] Vendors for minimap/worldmap/search
[added] Books for minimap/worldmap/search
[changed] LootCount is now optional

The collected information can be viewed in several ways:

Drops

1: When you mouse-over a mob, you can hold down <alt> to display a list of items the mob may drop.
2: When you mouse-over an item, you can press <alt> to display the mobs that drops this item.
Please note: DropCount does NOT come with a pre-built database.

Vendors

1: When you mouse-over a vendor you can hold down <alt> to display a list of items the vendor sells
2: When you mouse-over an item, you can press <ctrl> to display the vendors that sells this item.
3: You can mouse-over a vendor-icon on the minimap or worldmap to display a list of items the vendor sells
4: Type "/lcdc item" plus the item you want to check. You can enter full links, numeric item-IDs, or the item name.
Please note: DropCount does NOT come with a pre-built database.

Books

1: You can mouse-over a book-icon on the minimap or worldmap to display its name
2: Type "/lcdc book" plus the title of the book. If the book is known, a list of location(s) will be displayed.
3: Type "/lcdc book zone" to display a list of all the known books in your current zone.
Please note: DropCount does NOT come with a pre-built database.

Functionality

DropCount is a plug-in for the addon LootCount, and can thus be placed as a LootCount icon/watch. As of version 0.30 it can also be used as a stand-alone add-on. After positioning the plug-in within LootCount (from the LootCount menu) it will show up as a questionmark. You must now drop an item on it, and it will change to the icon of the item you dropped. When you start killing mobs, the icon will update with a percentage-number denoting the dropchance of the item. If you kill only mobs that have 100% drop-chance of the item, the number will be 100. If you kill equal amounts of mobs that drops it 100% and 0% it will show 50, and so on. This number is derived from kills the last 15 minutes.
So if you are grinding for a specific item and this number is low, then you should probably go somewhere else.

Colour coding

In the list of mobs that drops the item, the mobs are colour-coded from red to green. A red mob-name is a mob that you have not killed many of, and the reported drop-rate may be inaccurate. The more mobs you kill, the greener the name gets - and the reported drop-rate will be a lot more accurate.

The data

DropCount does not come with a pre-built database, so when you first install it, it is empty. Start killing mobs, and it will provide information for you quite fast.

Sharing data

If you are in a guild, DropCount will connect to the guild data-channel and immediately start adding kills and loot from other guildes to your database. No more set-up required.

Special items

Normal items are counted on a per-kill basis.
Skinning-drops are counted on a per-skinned basis.
Quest-items are not counted, as the will require you to be on a quest for it to drop. These items will however show up as "Quest" in stead of a percentage.

Would it be possible to add something to lootcount by item id? There has been twice that I've wanted to do this since I wanted it in LC but didn't have any yet.

  • Where is the file that the database is stored? I would like to see all the data so I can see in a whole what drops what.

Ok I just got this the other day. I'm loving it so far. I've tested this out with a few low lvl instances. Beautiful. However is there a way to view all it's data at once?

For example say I'm looking for a sword, however I don't remember all the names of the swords in my database. It would be easy to just click something(tab similar to that at AH) that lists all the swords and alt+hover it shows me how to get it.

That should be totally possible. That has been thought of some time ago, but got pushed back because of other addon-work.
I should get that feature up and running in not too long, though.

  • what's it mean when you mouseover an item with alt-key and it says "1 more entry"?

That may happen if the only mob in that item's lootlist has been killed less than 10 times, and it is more than 15 minutes since you last killed it. When a mob-type has been killed 10 or more times, the data is considered to be better and will always be displayed. ...unless there are at least 25 other mobs with better droprate for that item.

Updates will be a bit slow for a bit now. The reason is that I am working on a very big project at the moment (a lot bigger than my DuckieBank project, probably equalling QuestHelper pretty much). This takes a lot of my time, and inbetween I also need to do some work that also brings money...
That's just the way of the world.

Updates on the new project will come eventually.

    Works this with german client?

Oh God... Sorry I was soooo slow. This addon should work with any language. All data is gathered from the items themselves (no database entered by me), so it should be good with any WoW-client.

The only "problem" should be if you move from one language to another because all info is recorded in the laguage you use. So if you use a german client, all data will be german. If you then move to an english client, the data will not be usable at that server.

I'm having trouble getting this to display? I have LootCount, the dependency, is there another I need? /lc show doesnt work and It is enabled.

"lc" shoujld show you a green frame in the center of the screen. This is for LootCount, and should not be needed to use the dropcounter. There should be no need of doing anything for the dropcounter. Just go and kill something, then loot it. After you have looted it, it should be in your database, and you should be able to mouse-over the corpse with held down. That should show you the dropcounter popup.
