  • About DoTimer
  •

DoTimer is a comprehensive suite for managing various things that need timing.
These include:
    - your DoTs / HoTs
    - your Cooldowns
    - buffs / debuffs on you

It accomplishes the task by breaking into sub-addons: DoTimer, Cooldowns, and PlayerAuras, respectively.  A fourth sub-addon, Notifications, is also included.  All four can be enabled/disabled and customized separately.  The reason for including all of these together in one addon is for interoperability.  You can customize the timers to an extreme extent.

DoTimer starts off in simple mode, with a lot of functionality hidden.  You don't see PlayerAuras or Notifications, and a lot of the customizability is hidden.  This is for users who have no need of all the complex settings.

The basic philosophy behind the addon is that timers are put into a specific anchor location on screen.  These anchors can be customized independently of each other, as can the individual timers.  You can control where certain timers from the sub-addons go, so that the timers are placed as logically onscreen as possible.

Fragmentation:
DoTimer's timers fit into three categories: standard, No Target, and Party Buffs.  Standard timers are timers on specific mobs.  No Target timers are timers that can affect multiple mobs at once (or none at all), like Howl of Terror.  Party Buffs are buffs cast on the party; you can set it up so that they get combined into a single timer so that tracking them is much easier (and less spammy onscreen).

Cooldowns's timers fit into two categories: Yours and communicated.

PlayerAura's timers fit into four categories: Buffs/debuffs with/without a duration.  If you want, you can flag timers that have a duration to display with no duration.

You can customize the anchor location for each of these categories, as well as anchors for specific timers or specific DoTimer targets.  You can also apply timer settings globally, to specific categories, to specific anchors, or to specific timers.  You can make as many anchors and timer settings as you want.

Notifications lets you create notifications for various events, such as casting a spell, an enemy gaining a buff, losing aggro, losing health, or a cooldown being up.  You can make the screen flash various colors, play a sound, send a chat msg / do an emote, or other various things in response.  The system is quite customizable as to how the notifications are sent; I suggest playing around with it.

As an alternative method of operating in 'white list' mode, make a new anchor and specifically move all of the buffs you want to this anchor and disable the display of all other anchors. You can even make them appear in the same group and sort by time left when you do so which for many classes provides an effective 'priority' list of when to use your abilities.

I have an issue...I downloaded this addon (used it in the past and I love it) but now, it is showing none of my normal WOW buffs at the top of the screen.

Any advice or help would be appreciated! It is really difficult to see what buffs I have and in fact, I was DI'd twice during a raid and was unable to click the buff off to take the DI off myself, because the buff was not show.

    Thanks in advance!

You might be in SIMPLE MODE. If so, disable SIMPLE MODE.

Then configure the PLAYERAURAS module. Be sure it is enabled. You might want to disable the default Blizzard buff display frame - you can do so in the configuration panel for PLAYERAURAS.

Look below for instructions to set the mod into "White List" mode. It defaults to "Black List" mode.

when are you gonna update it? it has lots of bugs. i cant move dot screen

That's not a bug. Disable click-through functionality for the timer you are referring to. Dotimer is very option heavy, so you'll just need to pay attention and read the options more closely.

Will dotimer show the Druid eclips, i cannot seem to find how?

    thanks

Eclipse is a player buff, so it will appear with the rest of your buffs when it procs. Look through the options for the PlayerAuras module so that it will behave the way you want. Be sure you have Simple Mode disabled. You might also want to turn off the default Blizzard buff display and allow DoTimer to handle that for you.

Maybe I'm stupid or something but i really don't understand the settings. I am a warlock and i would like both the cooldown timers of my spells, and the timers of my procs on trinkets and timers that affect me to be put under Cooldown timers. In the same list. At the moment the spell cooldowns like when i can cast chaos bolt and conflag comes up under Cooldowns, and buffs on myself like Backdraft and when my trinkets proc comes up under another list with my name as title. I want them all to be in the Cooldowns list. Is that doable? I've been trying to understand this for 2 hours but I just can't. Please help? :)

If I understand you correctly, you want to move your buffs under the Cooldowns ANCHOR (not the Cooldown timer; the Cooldowns Anchor). In addition, you want to put some buffs under a different anchor, the Anjira Anchor.

This is not difficult to do. I STRONGLY suggest you create a new profile and play around with all the possible settings so that you learn how the mod works. It is not hard to understand, but there are a LOT of options, there are multiple interacting modules, and like anything that gives you a lot of configurability, there's going to be a learning curve. So take the time to learn how the mod works before trying to get it to do a specific thing.

Then all you have to do is assign all PlayerAuras Buffs to the Cooldowns anchor (see instructions a few messages below), then create a new anchor - which you will call the Anjira Anchor - and assign those specific buffs to that new anchor.

I have an issues....I had to wipe out my WOW cache folder and my wtf or wft folder (whatever it is called)...and now I can not move my Dotimer. It stays at the bottom of the screen. I used the reset location which places is it in the middle of the screen but when I grab it to try to move it to a different location, it just goes back to the bottom of the screen.

    Any suggestions?

Sounds like an issue caused by some other mod. Try this:

1- Be sure you're using the latest version of DoTimer:
    http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info1483

2- Disable all your other mods - leave only DoTimer enabled.

3- Set up DoTimer as you desire.

4- Enable all your other mods.

I got a problem. I do not understand the Party Buffs or they do not work.
With the standard setting they will be shown where the mob dots are in a seperate group.

I tried to move them to cooldowns but it does not work.
As well it is said it groups all Party buffs together, this is not happening for me (tried casting the WL detect invisibility spell on me and a party member)

Is there any manual or some explanation on Paty Buffs?

No one has written a manual for DoTimer. But the options are all there, labeled plainly - you just need to experiment with them all to learn what they do and how they work. I recommend you save your current profile, then create a new profile so you can play around with all the settings for an hour or three.

Let's address your current concern, which is moving Party Buffs to a different anchor and adding the spell Detect invisibility to the list of buffs to be handled by the Party Buffs group.

1- Be sure you are not in SIMPLE MODE. Go here:
    Interface Options->Addons->DoTimer
At the top of the right-hand pane you will see the words SIMPLE MODE. Un-check the small box to the left of those words.

    2- Go here:
    Interface Options->Addons->DoTimer
Scroll down the right-hand pane a bit until you see the words PARTY BUFFS in white letters. Be sure the small box to the left of the word ENABLED is checked.

3- In that same section, look for the field with the word FILTERS in it. Left-click in that field. Type the name of the buff which you want to be tracked in the Party Buffs group. Be SURE you type it EXACTLY CORRECT including any spelling or punctuation. Then hit the return key on your keyboard. You can now left-click on the down-arrow to the right of the entry field to see the list of buffs which will be tracked in the Party Buffs group when it is enabled; be sure that Detect Invisibility is listed.

4- Now scroll down further on that same right-hand pane until you get to ANCHOR CUSTOMIZATION in white letters. Look for the words SELECT ANCHOR TO CUSTOMIZE. Left-click on the down-arrow. Choose COOLDOWNS ANCHOR.

5- Look for the words MOVE HERE. There is a down-arrow to the left of those words. Left-click that arrow. Look through the drop-down menu for PARTY BUFFS - choose that.

Be sure you're running the latest version of DoTimer, which I am maintaining here until Asheyla returns and posts an update:

I downloaded and unzipped the files, then moved them to my WoW Addons file. However, nothing shows up in my Addons when I play the game. The DoTimer file shows up in my WoW Addons file, but not in the opening page Addons list.

I've done a number of Addons before without difficulty, but apparently I've done something dumb this time.

    I'm very open to suggestions.

Okay, I finally got it to work. I had to take the files out of the covering file of the same name.

Maybe I just shoulda poured more coffee down my keyboard...

There are a lot of options so I'm just not sure where to find it but:

I want to turn off my pets cooldowns and everything.
I also want to be able to turn off certain cooldowns, I'm a hunter so I'm really just looking for a way to track a few dots that are up on the target and when they will expire.
