  • About Debuff Filter
  •

This addon filters out the debuffs and buffs that you don't care about. If you're a melee class, you can filter out everything but CoR, FF and Sunder. If you're a caster, you can just show debuffs like CoE and Winter's Chill. Healers can filter out everything but their buffs and HoTs, etc.

It supports the 40 debuff limit, and besides filtering your current target, you can filter buffs/debuffs on yourself, and buffs/debuffs on the Focus target.

To configure the mod once it's installed, type /dfilter -- you should see a simple UI. To add a filter, select your target from the dropdown menu (Target, Player, Focus), select the Buff or Debuff tab, then type in the name of your buff/debuff and click Add.

If you're not sure how to set the Focus target, you can either type /focus <target> or go into keybindings and bind keys to "Focus Target" and "Target Focus" under Targeting Funcions.

Note: make sure filtering is turned on for your target type, or you won't see anything get filtered.

To move the frames, check "Show Backdrop" and shift-click and drag one of the backdrops.

If you'd like to change the orientation of any frame, select the direction under the dropdown Grow menu, then configure how many buffs or debuffs you'd like to see per row. The layout settings are as follows:

Right-Down, Right-Up: grows to the right, new rows start below or above the first row.

Left-Down, Left-Up: grows to the left, new rows start below or above the first row.

If the "rows" setting is set to 1, you'll have vertical orientation.

To change the orientation of the buff duration time, ctrl-right click the frame you'd like to configure.

A few configuration options exist that aren't available through the UI -- to see them, type /dfilter help

Settings are stored on a per-character/server basis, so it should work fine if you have alts.

    I don't know about everyone else's timer addons but the 2 that I use exclusevley are eventalert and debuff filter, both haven't been working for 2 weeks. At the launch of 3.2 both of these addons still worked for me then all of a sudden they stopped working. I noticed alot of people are having the same issue as I am from surfing threw the addon forums but it also hasn't affected others, something I'm having a issue figuring out what's wrong. I'm not a computer programmer my knowledge to addons is simply transfering a new update to my interface addon folder and reading the read me files. I've searched all different wow addon sites and found a nice slam alert and a battle shout/commanding shout alert. The only thing I need to find is an alert for sunder that shows me not only how much time is left on sunder but also how many stacks are on the target. The problem I'm having in raid is if someone beats me to the first sunder, it becomes minimized on my target screen and I can't see how much time is left on the debuff. If I sunder first then its a large icon with a timer. But id rather stay focused near my player to avoid fires and runes poisons etc... then watching a timer located on the top of my screen. Which is why I favored debuff filter and event alert. With Those addons I can really perform like a porn star. People have told me to look up power auras but I'm having the same issue with that addon. Its outdated. I also want to note that yes all my outdated addons are checked to still work ingame but they don't. I can't even access the options while ingame. If anyone can help me please lemme know.

    I'm not sure if this has been addressed already, or if it's just me, but since a few versions ago I could never get Heroism to show up in player buffs even though I added it.

    The Lock frames checkbox does not work.
    Show backdrop option does not preserve state through logout.
    When backdrop is off, frame is locked.
    Default setting of Curse of Recklessness.... this curse no longer exists.

    It would be nice to enable some partial string matching. Example, Mangle (currently requires differentiation between bear and cat) or Faerie Fire (standard vs feral)

    Overall I would say a worthy goal of this addon would be to work based off the master list of debuffs categories a target and be afflicted with and show any that are missing (as a setting).

    Useful addon though, thanks.

    I don't know when, but I'm going to try and revamp the target/player/focus system to support any unit that the user wants. It'll definitely be more future-proof than the current system which is limited to what was around 3 years ago. I have no WOW access and I haven't done any real mod writing in a long time, so it may take a little while, but this is the most popular request and I'd definitely like to see it added.

    Not sure if you check here or wowinterface so I posted to both:

    This is one of my all-time favorite addons. I stream a lot of arenas, I get a lot of UI questions, but people ask about this one more than any other. Thanks for your hard work! A few feature requests:

    *Add party buff/debuff support (Party2-Party5)
    *Add arena buff/debuff support (Arena1-Arena5)
    *Add targetoftarget buff/debuff support
    *Change buff/debuff scale independently for each frame

    Hi porkbone,

    i wonder if its possible to add a "targettarget" option to dfilter.

    let me try to explain why.

    when im the 2nd tank or damage dealer or even a healer, most time my target is the boss.

    and sometime its very important to know if the target of the boss (who is the active maintank and my targettarget) got a special debuff or how many stacks of a debuff he got.

    i know i could set the tank as a focus and watch the focus debuffs, but thats not flexible enough cause sometimes i need to set focus on another player oder npc.

    i hope you are able to decrypt my terrible english ^^

    kind regards Juido

    Awesome addon!
    -few suggestions maybe.

    1) another type of showing time next to buff/debuff wowlike> 3min 60s 4s etc
    i find it sometimes confusing when you have debuffs in a row and it almost look like
    00:0200:3100:03
    [-----][-----][-----]

    2) maybe different scalling for each frame type

    3) extra frame type to show which selected buffs you are missing
    (tho i dont mind using different addon for that)

    I was hoping this addon would allow me to filter the debuffs on my target frame on xperl, I'm guessing this is not possible?

    Changed the latest release (1.97) to support vehicles if someone is interested.

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JIJPJ91Y

    If you want to do it manually just open DebuffFilter.lua
    Find:
    ismine = caster == "player";
    Replace with:
    ismine = (caster == "player" or caster == "vehicle");

    Find:
    elseif (event == "UNIT_AURA" and arg1 == "player" ) then

    Replace with:
    elseif (event == "UNIT_AURA" and (arg1 == "player" or arg1 == "vehicle")) then

    Can this addon be used in conjunction with another buff-framing addon? For example, could I use this with something like CT_Buffmod to filter out all the raid buffs I don't need to see on myself?

    Or does this addon use its own buff display, which can't be disabled?

    The addon doesn't integrate with any other addons--it's strictly standalone. However, you can manipulate the size and position of the filtered buff icons in such a way that they can look somewhat integrated with another addon, depending on what the rest of your UI looks like.

    hi, porkbone
    i was wondering if you could tell me which part in dfilter is responsible for gettin "exact spell name" hoped i could edit SCT so that it would search for exact spell name aswell not partial which totally mess up similar spells :/

    IIRC, I'm pretty sure it doesn't do any partial matching. Do you have an example of the problem you're experiencing (buff names, etc?)

    Hello, i'm having some troubles using your addon. In fact, when I /dfilter it doesn't even give me the UI how it should be. I can't see words, and i'm having an error message:
    [string
    "DebufffilterOptions_slider1:OnValueChanged"]2:Attempts to concatenate global 'DFILTER_OPTION_SCALE' (a nil value)

    I tryed to reinstall it several times, i tryed to run it without any others addons, and it's still not working.
    Any suggestions ?

    Sorry for the delay. I've uploaded a new version which contains a French localization and fixes a localization bug. It should resolve the problem you've been experiencing.
