  • About Critline
  •

Originally created by Sordit, this is a complete rewrite by Uggh (Titan Critline) and Feyde, now maintained by me.

Critline is an addon that will remember your highest hits and crits (including heals and pet attacks), and display them in a fairly simple tooltip.

Features:
- Keeps a database of the highest hits and crits for each individual spell and displays them in a simple (or, if you prefer, advanced) summary tooltip.
- Splash message upon new records. (configurable)
- Filter out mobs and spells that will not be recorded. (useful for mobs that are vulnerable to some sort of damage)
- Builtin filter for special mobs and auras that causes abnormally high hits. (can be bypassed) See CritlineFilters.lua for details.
- Announce your records.
- LibDataBroker feed for displaying on Titan Panel, FuBar and more. (FuBar requires Broker2FuBar)

- deDE localisation by Destoxillo.

If you are willing and able to provide localization, please head over to the localization page! It would be greatly appreciated.

Sure, sounds like a good idea. :)

    1. Think I'm gonna keep the current behaviour, then. :) If I wanted to register crazy hits I guess I wouldn't care in which encounter it was, hehe.

    4. Ohh, now I see! :P I totally didn't notice that at all, just the numbers having different colors. And you're absolutely right, that would make it a lot more readable.

    Awesome =D

Additionally, would it be possible to insert the highest score in chat by using Shift-Click (or whatever other modifier you like) on the LDB display?
The Announce feature is hard to use, since you have to manually find the highest scores, which could be 2 different skills...

    1. Okay, hmm.. I would say too much hassle for little gain again, but can you convince me otherwise? :) Can you tell me a situation where it'd be useful to enable a single boss/buff but keep the rest filtered?

    4. I'd prefer if the color was the same across any character! What about if I make the normal high score a color between yellow and green? Didn't want to make it yellow since the brackets almost are, but that wouldn't be such a big deal, I guess.

    1. Not really, no xP I just thought it would be a nice touch :)

    4. It's not the colour of the high score number that's the problem. The problem is that because the skill name and the text "Normal" is the same colour, it becomes hard to differentiate.
    See what I mean now?

    1. It can be done in advanced options through the Ignore mob/aura filter options, then. Though not individually.

    2. I see what you mean, but to be honest it seems like a lot of hassle for little gain imo.

    3. Alright, it's supposed to be sorted right away. I've noticed some anomalies, though. I'll take a look at it.

    4. Yeah, I checked it out, I was thinking something like this:
    http://img10.imageshack.us/i/wowscrnshot111009234843.jpg/
    Maybe a lil' bit brighter?

    1. Yeah, individually is what I meant.

    2. I can imagine, and you're right, the gain isn't all that great xP

    3. Coolio =D

    4. I'd rather you change the colour of either "Starfire" or "Normal" and "Critical" - it's the fact that those two are the same that's the problem. Maybe colour skill name with the class colour?

    Thanks for your feedback, Belazor!

    1. You can already choose to ignore the mob and aura filter in advanced options. Do you mean you explicitly want to be able to disable buffs and mobs individually?

    2. Custom filtered mobs can be found in WTF\Account\ACCOUNT\SavedVariables\Critline.lua and the integrated ones in Interface\AddOns\Critline\CritlineFilters.lua (currently lines 16 through 27). Did you have a more convenient method in mind? If so, what?

    3. The spell filter should list its contents alphabetically. Are you experiencing otherwise? Could you post a screenshot and/or your saved variables, please? WTF\Account\ACCOUNT\REALM\CHARACTER\SavedVariables\Critline.lua (NOT the same as above)

    4. That's a good point. I'm thinking a light blue colour for the crits, what do you think? Or maybe green, and the high score amount blue instead. I do want to distinguish the high score still.

I hope I didn't come off as rude in any of my answers! I just want to know exactly what you have in mind, so that I don't implement stuff and it's not at all what you had expected. :)

You were not rude at all :)

    1. I mean the specialMobs and specialAuras from CritlineFilters.lua. Some people might want to disable these filters for whatever reason.

    2. The addon could pop-up a window with a string that users could copy (similar to, say, the "Add Guild Member" popup, only the text field would be populated with a string), and have another button that allowed them to import (same kind of popup, only empty).
    Does that sound feasible?

    3. When the addon is installed fresh, and it's populating its list of spells, it's sorted in the order you use the spells. After reloading the UI (or restarting the game) it is indeed sorted alphabetically.
My bad, I thought it wasn't going to be sorted at all, you see :p

    4. Yeah, the top scores for Normal and Critical should definitely stay green. Did you look at TopScoreFu's screenshot from that link? It should give you some inspiration as to how to make it easily distinguishable :)

    Thanks for listening =D

Awesome mod, thanks for making it =D

I have a few improvement suggestions, though:

    1. It would be nice if we could gain access to the vulnerable mobs/superbuffs list in the config interface.
That way, we can disable one or more of them if we ever got hit on the head very hard and decide to ruin our legitimate scores.

    2. It would also be nice if we could export/import our mob filters.
In case you ever stop playing WoW/stop making this addon and fall behind on next expansion's vulnerable list.

    3. Could you please sort the filter lists by spell name?
Would make it easier to manage the filters for us.

    4. In the tooltip, when the Detailed Summary is enabled, having the skill name and the "Normal" and "Crit" text be in the same colour makes it hard to read.
See this addon: http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/fubar_topscorefu.aspx for what is IMO a more easily viewable tooltip.
I'd love for it to either be changed to look more like that, or for us to be able to customise these colours ourselves.

None of these are deal-breakers though, this is definitely the best crit tracking addon that I'm aware of, at the time of writing this :)

It's not that I don't appreciate any and all feedback given to me, please keep it coming, nor that I don't enjoy coding, I do. :) It's not _a lot_ of work, but I have my own idea of what features I would like in my addons, and what I can consider implementing by request. I would gladly implement your idea if it was easily doable. Unfortunately, it's not. To distinguish between the jumps I would need some kind of counter, and I would need to take into consideration the fact that it doesn't always jump the maximum amount of jumps, and make sure a Chain Heal being cast immediately after another isn't being counted as additional jumps from the first cast. This, coupled with the fact that this code would be implemented for only one spell (well, perhaps Chain Lightning as well, I suppose) makes it something I'd rather not have in this addon.

Again, this is not to make you feel bad about your suggestion by telling you what a pain it would be, but rather an explanation of why I will not implement such a feature at this time. :)

Not a problem, and Thank you!

Now that you kinda explained it, it makes sense why.

Have a good one! [And a Happy Hallows End!]

    Hello Thawa,
you should be able to announce heal records by selecting Heal in the menu at the bottom of the announce frame.

As for chain heals, do you mean that they would be listed under their respective jump count? Like so; "Chain Heal (1st)", "Chain Heal (2nd)"? If so, I'm afraid I don't really like the sound of that. It would mean a bunch of extra code for a single spell. If you meant something else, please explain.

    hmm..Yes that's what i was intending(I think). I am wishing for it to show the heal/crit for the first person it hit( i.e. the target it was casted at). Then, to show the highest heal/crit for each jump. So like;

    Chain Heal(Target): 00000
    Chain Heal Jump 1): 00000
    Chain Heal (Jump 2): 00000
    Chain Heal (Jump 3): 00000
And if glyphed, Chain heal (Jump 4): 00000
[0's hold the place of the crit/heal]
    HOWEVER!!
--If that requires a lot of work, coding, and time you do not HAVE/NEED to put it in. I don't want you spending your free time on an addon for WoW if you don't want to. Im extremely happy and thankful for what it does now, it was simply a suggestion/idea i had. So, please, if its a lot of work, don't feel like you NEED/HAVE to do it. I think I know how much work you add-on authors put into it, so don't burden yourself with more.

P.S. Thank you, I was able to find how to report healing.
P.S.S Thank you very much for the response, Have a good one!

Hey! I love the add on. I play a Resto Shaman and use it to see my crits out of curiosity.

Can you ad the feature to announce Healing Crits to party/raid/guild? All I can figure out how to do is report Damage Crits.

Also, can you have it track Chain Heal bounces? That would help a lot. Thank you.

Hmm.. you mean you want the name of the pet in the tooltip somehow? Or the type of pet? I'll see if there's a good solution to that!

Just wondering since this is a rewrite of the titan panel one, is it possible to save pet damage with the names of the pets? I am a hunter and it would be nice to see which pet did what crit, if you see what I mean?

Thanks for keeping this updated! =D

    @ fantasydragon:
What version are you running exactly? Heal crits was fixed in 2.2.0.

The filter works in such a way that what you check will be shown, and what you don't, won't. (or vice versa depending on settings)

    @ greatbayernfan:
I'm not sure, I merely used the function Parrot uses to display a message. I could see if it's possible.

    Reply Report Permalink
  • Your Answer: Yes, Parrot is not yet supported. I'll add it.

Thats right, thank you for that work. But the message doesnt scroll. I know its a very little problem, but is there any way to make it scroll?
