Distributing booty (loot) can be a time consuming and complex process for loot masters. Now there is a simple and easy to use add on to help: BootyCall

BC uses a 'float/sink' method for distributing loot. Each raid member that gets booty during a raid sinks to the bottom of the booty list, which then floats everyone else up a spot. Members who are not present are frozen in place and do not move.

Raid member positions are stored so they will be correct on the next run.

Raid members can whisper the loot master to get their position, or see the whole list. The loot master can also broadcast individual positions. Also, if you have multiple people that need to keep track of loot, anyone running BootyCall can retrieve the current list from the loot master's list.

Try taking a look at SKG, Suicide Kings Geo, it's been around since pre-BC and I've never used anything else for loot.

There is a lot of code to be re-worked to make this 3.1 compatible. At the moment, work on my other add-ons are taking up all my bandwidth, so I would suggest looking at other add-ons for loot distribution at this time. Thanks for asking though.

Hmm - That error message was from a much older version. Can you download the 0.5.0 version and reinstall it? Let me know what happens.

If I wanted to migrate my current SK list over to this (i.e., big long list of names), is that currently possible? Or is adding people a one by one processes (and they have to be online and targetable.)

Is it possible to add an entire raid to the list? (perhaps with the new people get tossed down to the bottom)

Tracking of alts? (so one person getting loot moves then and all their alts down in a bunch.)

The seeming guild-agnostic nature of this addon makes it very attractive. I always kept my SK list for my raid by hand because SKGeo (et al) always demanded that people be in the same guild, or at the least, that someone have a GM in a guild somewhere to make things work.

I look forward to your future work! Thank you!

When do the error occur? When it first starts up? When you add/edit/remove someone? If you can provide me some specifics, it would really help track it down.

I have not really used SK so I cannot comment on it's complete functionality but in reading some of the old posts (development was halted on SK?) it is based on the float/sink concept the same way BootyCall is, which is a system that has been around for years (since the D&D days) :-)

It appears that BC is much simpler to use and has a much cleaner interface. It allows raid members to more easily see their position, to get a complete list or have the loot master broadcast the list. It also handles mains/alts.

I hadn't thought about a PHP module so guildies could review the positions (and loot?) from a web site as I had never used SK, but that's a great idea.

Loot tracking is not automated - when the LM hands out the loot they have to manually select who received it and click the Booty button (which sinks them to the bottom).

However, a more automated technique is a great idea and I will see if I can wrap that into the next version.

If BC 'does the same thing' as SK, I would consider it a spinoff, but if you review the code, you will find there is no relationship between the two. BC was crafted from the ground up with one thing in mind; create a loot distribution system that was fair and easy for casual raiding guilds.

It was halted, but then taken over and began development as Suicide Kings Geo (search curse).

My major question: Does this system support "Bidding" their position so that it's automated for the LM to know who gets the loot?

The Suicide or "Float/Sink" method has been in use for awhile, yes, but it's particular implementation was originated for WoW by the Black Wolf folks. What determines whether this mod is original or a spinoff is your implementation of it as well as the features.

Thus far this mod looks like a direct copy, with a different skin.

But that's my opinion, and as we all know, they are like buttholes.

There is not currently an option for multiple lists. However, that's a really good idea, so it may make it into the next release (which is still a ways off)
