  • About Baud Mount
  •

Automaticaly equips your mount speed items when you mount up and equips the previous stuff when you dismount. Use /baudmount to setup the gear to use while mounted. If you change the enchantment on an item and still want it equipped, add it again.

Hey there, could you update this addon so that it will work with vehicles, specifically the new Wooly Mammoth mount? This mount technically counts as a vehicle because it allows other players to hop on, and BaudMount doesn't seem to work with it. Is this possible? I'd really like to keep using BaudMount because it's just the best and simplest mod for mount speed gear-switching.

PS - ever thought about adding a command that we could macro and keybind that would allow us to switch back to the un-mounted gear before we dismount? This would make it easier to jump straight into combat from the mount, which I prefer. But right now, we have to either manually switch the gear/trinkets back before we dismount, or dismount a little early before we attack so that we're not stuck in combat, wearing the riding gear...Basically it might just be a one-button action, which we could hit the second before we attack, thereby switching the normal gear back before we're dismounted from attacking/casting.

Thanks! Love the addon, always have!

The dismount key is an interesting idea. Never thought about it. What's the application for using Baud Mount for vehicles? I guess they must have speed boosting trinkets for them? I hardly have time to level, so I'm nowhere near 80.

Yeah, the re-gear before dismount button would be really helpful if you ever get the time to add it.

As for vehicles, you actually don't have to be 80 to have them. I bought the Woolly Mammoth at 70 in Dalaran; it just costs a ton of gold. With Wrath, Blizzard added a new UI element, which appears to the character as a "vehicle" bar. Many action bar addons like Dominoes (previously Bongos) have integrated this UI bar into their addons. You can find it among the other Blizzard UI elements in the Interface folder.

Basically the vehicle bar is used to interact both with new "vehicle"-type mounts, as well as non-mount objects like cannons and seige weapons. So far, the Woolly Mammoth and the engineering-build Mechano-Hog (or whatever it's called; the 2-person motorcycle) might be the only two actual mounts that use the vehicle system, and that's because other people can ride on them besides you.

But I'm pretty sure up until 71, the Riding Crop did work with the Woolly Mammoth. And when Blizzard releases the new "71-80 version" of the riding crop, I'm sure it will also work with vehicle-based mounts. In the mean time, I could probably still use the Mithril Spurs, Gloves with Riding enchant, and Carrot on a Stick (because I don't think those had any stipulations about using them after level 70, like the Riding Crop). But the only problem is, all of the riding gear mods still don't support vehicles.

If for some reason you can't get the info you need from your own Blizzard UI folders, I'd be willing to help you if you need something like a "log" of functions while mounting/dismounting on the Woolly Mammoth. I'm no developer, so you'd just have to tell me how to do it.

Either way, thanks for the great addon, and think about that "re-equip before dismount" function!

No, the Carrot on a Stick trinket (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=11122), Enchant Gloves - Riding Skill (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=13947) & Mithril Spurs (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=7969) do _not_ work if you are level 71 or higher. Neither do any other riding speed items.

In the 6 months since Lich King was released, no indication they will ever put back mount speed items for level 71+ players. So this mod has no use after level 70.

But until then, its great. As to vehicles, changing the mod so that it works for the small handful of people at level 70 who spend thousands to buy Mammoths doesn't appear to be a high priority.

  • I can not get this new version to work either. I doesn't switch between the riding crop and trinket when mounting or dismounting. I've used BM for a long time, it was the best one in the game...it always worked.

Is the enabled button checked? Have you tried removing the riding crop and putting it back in? If you're testing it in a bg or instance, is the check box for that checked?

  • I tried removing both 'riding crop/trinket' and and adding them back mounted and unmounted in Org. And yes all boxes were checked, Enable, BG and Instance. I removed the file and put it back, I also removed the old version before I put the new one in. I noticed that there is no mount choice with this version, I'm assuming that is as is it suppose to be.

Oh, and I should also suggest you try running Baud Mount without other addons running to see if there's any difference.

Yeah, that was intentional. It sounds like you're doing everything right. I'm really not sure why it isn't working for you. You could try typing this into your chat box while dismounted:
    /script BaudMount_Debug = true
Then, when you mount it should say some stuff. Let me know what it says, and maybe that can help.

There's a macro which works better than the old swap mount button function.

Macro to switch action bar according to flight availability:

    /use [flyable] ;

    For example:
/use [flyable] Brutal Nether Drake; Black War Tiger

The newest version properly equips trinkets, etc., but will the functionality to swap mount buttons on your bars depending on the zone return? I loved that feature!

I did some work trying to get that to work, but there were some difficulties that made it awkward with the new mount system. Also, while the action bar switching was needed when Burning Crusade came out, macros have allowed for even better capabilities for some time. It doesn't really seem to me like it's a very needed feature.

yep, love the fact that it uses less memory

if there's a macro i could use i'd be fine with that too, but it's great to just press ` and mount up without having to worry if it's the right mount or not

and yeah, in a couple weeks riding crops won't be usable at 71.. =(

  • I must disagree with you on the automatic switching of the mount based on zone seems to be an unneeded feature. That is the primary reason I use this mod, other than the trinket equip for riding crop.

In WoTLK, the trinket switching feature will be all but useless relegating this mod to obscurity without the automatic mount switching feature due to the changes to the riding crop being useless at levels 71+.

One possible solution might be to examine the mechanics behind the "Livestock" mod to figure out how it is able to switch mounts depending on zone?

In all honesty I would prefer to use BaudMount as it has a much smaller memory footprint and I have no need to manage vanity pets or use random mounts. I do however find myself using both mods at the moment to address both of the previously mentioned features since neither one does both right now.

Regardless, thanks for updating this mod as long as you have. I have sure appreciated it.

Could you explain why using my mod to switch the mounts in the action bar is needed when macros can do the job?

Macros are fine too for me, but what's one that would work if it wouldn't take too much time to type out or c/p.

    Thanks a bunch.
